Also no aura on Melancholy Angel. Bought the perk for it but haven't seen them on rivals.
Yet.
Her aura only shows on the 2nd time you meet her on the highway, i.e. after having beaten her once, and she becomes much much faster, this was changed during early access because she was extremely difficult to beat originally, the aura version is that original difficulty.

The aura perk is for applying to your own cars.

I knew about the aura perk, but not the second encounter. That is, until I got smoked by her. But I did catch Cinderella Past Midnight and stole her aura.

Well, this is the first PS5 game that's actually good on the console. (Not talking about games which you can get on PS4 like GT7)
I'm loving it, and it's a 10/10 for me. Only thing I'd honestly nitpick is, this could of easily been made for the PS4 since when I compare GT7 on PS4 to this game, GT7 looks leagues ahead. I guess they were forced to do PS5 because of UE5.

Also the physicals are a million times better than they were from the PS2 era games.

Well...after owning a PS5 for 5 years...I can say I finally have 1 game worth playing haha. (This has been the worse generation of sony consoles hands down for me)

You can use your directional indicators (dpad left-right) to change the route, but only if you are (substantially) in the lead. At leat on Steam, I don't have the PS5 version.
Works as you mentioned, distance based.

I may or may not have moved up too fast. I'm already getting rivals in the levels 15-18 shoving up, yet I only have 3 cars and only one of them may be capable of 300 kmh.

Been using the legendary tuner alot to get a bit of extra kick on most nights, yet not always succesful.

Current B.A.D name being weekend wrecker. Speaks a lot about my driving abilities. :P:lol:

So from what I gather, the Dyna and Townace are unlocked in the perk tree by defeating the rivals using them. The Dyna is showing as theoretically unlockable for me (save is roughly lv. 11).

Has anyone figured out the conditions for the Dyna rival?

I’ve only managed to put 7 hours into the game so far and still at Stage 1 (50%). I’m taking my time with it and savouring every moment, planning my next move on the Shuto Expressway and how to spend my BP. I’m already eyeing the RX8 and the S2000 while still rocking my EK9 Civic.

For now, I’ve also decided to disabled additional rules. The extra CP doesn’t seem to be worth the inconvenience 🤷‍♂️

I didn't bother with it on either of my two pc playthroughs. I just wanted to play the game without a ton of extra headache.

I had more fun playing this game last night than I did on Thursday... probably because I could explore a bigger area. I also got a new BRZ thinking that it'd put me one step closer to acquiring the Bugeye Impreza, but it didn't. Fortunately, the car is a step up from the MX-5 so I can't consider it a mistake. I think I'll be sticking with it for quite a while.
Here is the BRZ

And here is the MX-5

Seems a fine port so far but definitely disappointed with the resolution it's running it, feels even below 1080p which on my 4k display looks super blurry and there's quite a lot of graininess in the reflections.
Wish we had a Fidelity v Performance mode that let us turn off the raytracing reflections in favour of more resolution, game looks great on PC that way.

Running unrestricted perks as I've done a perk playthrough on PC, started in the Swift. I find it very hard to get good photos in the photo mode we have but the garage shots are decent.

The engine sound is so low. Is this a bug or do I have to upgrade the exhaust?

Unfortunately, it's really low. Even if you put it on the maximum setting.

Only thing you can do is turn other audio settings down, idk how exactly it is on the ps5 but if it's the same as on pc it should be simple. Unfortunately, Hondas are even quieter, they get a bit louder when upgraded though.

Wow lots of the AI in the game is dirty it's annoying lol I'm still using the AE86 with level 2 engine and level 1 everything else.

Any recommendations on the 2nd car? I have 10 million Credits but only have around 100 BP though.

Also are the rewards different between Challenge and Enjoy mode?

It’s part of the game and series, it’s intentional.

EK civic as it handles really well once you get Lvl.2 suspension on.

Yes, adding rules/challenge gives you more payout but you’ll need to consider oil and water temps. Certain cars also have more effect on the temps fyi.

13 hours in and I had to force myself to stop playing. Just got to stage 3 and trying out the FD first. The RX8 served me well in stage 2 but stage 3 is just really tough.

Just curious but are the opponent cars worth buying?

Judging by the icons besides them, I quess their tunes can't be altered.

The Midnight Plamo 300ZX has a speed metric over 500, which is more than any current car I own. Even with legendary tuners tune.

Got my ass handed to me by Trance Drive, after getting tag teamed by her, Little bit warrior, Shuwa Shuwa Strong and playfull Gentleman, cause I ran out of nitrous before getting her.

Also learned earlier that engine swaps require 3000 BP to unlock.

Dunno if I had been able to unlock them early on had I saved my points in early stages.

I'm doing my first playthrough on the challenge difficulty. Maybe should have started on easy...

For me, they're not really worth it because they can't be tuned. I also didn't get the engine swap on the first playthrough. I got it on my second.

I only have a couple of the boss cars- Melancholy Angel's is one of them because that RX8 was by far one of the fastest cars during the PC beta period.

It depends, i’m on Challenge difficulty and managed to beat Melancholy Angel’s second battle and her RX8 was comfortably faster than everything I had, bought it and it breezed through Stage 3 without too many problems, paying for itself in the process. :P

It may have a tougher time in Stage 4 by comparison.

Update on my loss to the Trance Drive & co. After beating the first four, you get swamped by Rising Seaman, Tornado of Love and Rumored Writer.

Beat the first four just before the curve to Daikoku on the Bayshore Line westbound, last three on the small straight after Daikoku going upwards.

Lucky I had enough nitrous left to leave them in the dust. Original plan was to just win the quartet and head to Daikoku for refill. No such luck, but the game sent me back to garage after all 7 had been won.

Currently on driver level 23, driving a 2002 NSX-R with speed metric 546 and a bit.

Got engine level 7 open and installed, clutch, trans and lsd are maxed out at level 5, just need to find and battle/win Stubborn Straight to unlock brake, suspension, tyre and body max levels.

GTO (3000GT) "Corvette" from Record:01

This custom car represents Genki at their most creative and provocative, and it's these fearless, non-cookie cutter, unique cars that make them my favorite game developers.
And this car is not just creative and unique in appearance, it also has plenty of performance, which is why it's my favorite.

Entering Stage 2 with the S2K. I just had to.
Honda was sorely missing from TXR3 and ITC and I'm super happy to have them back.
Can't wait till I have my hands on the NSX.

Engine swaps are useful in case you want to finish the game with anything other than the two hero cars (R35, LFA). If you pick either of those cars, it's basically 3000 wasted BP. Personally I feel it should be unlocked for much cheaper, because right now the game is shoehorned into a useful pathway or two, especially towards the end. The performance gap between R35 and the rest is just insane. And that's the common use for engine swap: put the LFA or R35 engine in another car. Should be balanced better IMO.

Haven't seen that one yet. Have beaten both the Snake Eyes and Swift King(s) witht he NSX-R and hope I could maybe use it to win the rest of the opponents...

but after reading that, I might need to go on grinding spree if I wan't to avoid either of those two cars.

Also got lots of wanderers to challenge, but most of them require specific cars to race against. Maybe I could win that 3000gt, so I could beat the Mitsubishi lover.

But after that still need Bb, Copen, 350Z, and Daihatsu or something for the pizza boy. And fast car without nitro for 2 wanderers.

EDIT: forgot to mention that Rindo Chihaya is downloadable as an opponent from the PS Store. Haven't opened the game yet, to check her out.

Is the NSX R that good? I'm still with my FD and just bought an R32 but it's quite disappointing that it's actually weaker than the FD.

Well, I did manage to beat Legendary Tuner/Machine Light King with his special tune, a few low level wanderers aswell. Current speed metric is 611 and a bit, with all max parts, which is not enought for much else with or without special tune.

Tried Reverse Eyes going upbound from Daikoku. Dude's level is 21, but even with 3 bottles of nitro, he disappeared off into the distance with his JZA80 Supra.

Same with Record X's Lancer, gone even with special tune.

So you are probably forced to buy either a R35 or Lexus to have a chance against them. Or grind your way to 3000 BP so you can swap the engine.
