The best? I'll tell you when I've driven everything!!

The worst so far IMO are x2010 (not interested in fantasy cars), the caterham (why does this car not accelerate?) and the premium mustang.

I'm sure there are loads of dire cars in GT5 but I don't bother buying 61hp oddities and so far have spent my money on stuff I'd spend my real world money on.

your crazy buck if you dont like the Caterham

X2010 (This was a huge disappointment. Not the performance, but the execution of the project. Not fun to drive and there's no racing to be had with it)

The entire Ford GT family--seem to dominate their class (especially the Italian)

GTbyCitroen Concept Car--Electric AWD oddity that's a blast to drive
Lexus IS-F Racing Concept '08

Meh...
LMP/Class C Cars--Most look like crap and in total they are a very disorganized collection of random cars from random years with different regulations
Fast production cars with poor downforce options--limiting factor on many supercars
Lambos and Ferraris in general, partially for reason listed above. I never played GT4, so these cars were new to me. Too bad they just don't perform, especially with anything close to the stock settings.

It's just pretty unrealistic, it makes every other car feel slow and is the ultimate noob car online.

Lies, the veyron is the noob car especially on drag friendly courses.

1. X2010. I dont understand why everyone has a beef with this car, I love it, just have to get used to it, even with the ds3! no one will propably be able to race it due to the amount of lateral g - force it produces, if the prototype ever sees daylight.

2. Opel Astra Touring car (Team Opel Phoenix): This car will never slip. Best grip of any car i've driven.

3. A tie: Toyota GT - ONE/ Merc CLK -GTR - GTR handles better than any other car in the game i think, and the toyota is good overall but has an amazing top speed, capable of doing over 400 km/t without drafting - good for 24h le mans.

AND WORST:

1. Formula GT: Poor handling, not as fast as the ferrari's.

2. Audi R10: I dunno what it is with this car, but it has a lack of grip no matter how careful i take corners the TCS kicks in, and it is not as fast as the other race cars.

3. Chrysler Prowler: I guess not many have tried this car as there are few reasons to, and i guess it's a good thing, as it should be left alone. Poor turn radius, slow compared to other cars with the same PP and cars literally stop in some corners.

I was wildly disappointed with the FGT. Flings you off course if you touch sand or are a little too liberal with the throttle.

A lot of my favourite cars are not the fastest / most glamorous.

Best:
1. Cusco Dunlop Impreza, excellent handling and a joy to drive, it's also a Premuim which I like. Did the Grand Valley 300km with it and it seemed to fly by. It's only 375bhp, but trust me, it's lovely to drive. Either that or it's the tune I've got it running on. Buy it from the Subaru dealership.
2. Lancia Delta S4, nice to rally with and did a few tarmacs as well.
3. The Lancer Evo that can be RM, it's nice to drive and got me through a lot of the earlier races.

Worst:
1. Veyron, drove it once and got to the first turn and retired from the race.
2. Midget, although it's fun trying to tip it over going round tight corners.
3. The Buick special or whatever it is

I can't help thinking some of the anti veyron is because it's a 'standard' model and therefore looks scruffy.

Mind you, I never liked it much in NFS Shift, but that was down to it's ungainly performance at the 'Ring.

PD could do much to rehabilitate this car if they 'premiumed' it, IMHO

Lotus 111R RM (fully modded) - fastest car under 350 HP I've driven, great handling
Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo - Fast and smooth
Toyota Minolta 88C-V - Zoom

Worst (Least Favorite):
Either Blitz car - stock setup is horrible, drift car + real track = no fun
TVR Cerbera Speed 12 - Like a guided missle without the guidance
RUF BTR - Haven't figured out how to drive the RR, spend a lot of time watching the back end try to beat the front end thru the corner.

EDIT: The anti-Veyron is because the thing can't hold a respectable speed through a corner, it's all HP and straight-line speed

X1 <-- the game would be better without this car. It's only use is BSpec, and only because of bad game design. If the F1's were the fastest/best race cars in this game, I'd be happy.

All the Chromeline Murcielago needs is tires. That change alone makes it a completely different car.

Possibly the most balanced cars stock. The FTO Super Touring Car is an incredible car given the fact that it's one of the best Race cars made thus far.

the x2010 is actually great to drive if you really know a track. Sure, a noob in one is very annoying, especially if you're in a great, but normal car.

I think a race with just x2010s on the ring would be a hilarious test of skill.

These FF cars can be tuned with suspension settings that allows them to corner a lot better. just try toe (front -0.60 and rear -0.30) you'll see what I mean.

Best

1 - Subaru Impreza STi RM. It was my first RM, I'm a big Subaru fan, and she made me a lot of money.
2 - Mazda 787B. The most beautiful sound that I have heard in a while, plus she handles like a dream.
3 - Ginetta G4. Such a great little car to drive around on tight tracks
4- Jay Leno Tank Car - I love it. I could care less how it handles. I enjoy driving it around. Plus a one make race of all tank cars is funny.

Worst

1 - X2010. Really? What's the point?
2 - Nascar. I hate them with a passion in real life. I hate them just as bad in this game.
3 - I don't have a third one.

My Favourite cars:

BMW 2002 Turbo - fantastic little car, handles like a dream, won loads of races when I started out.
RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" - a real lesson in car control and great fun too.
Toyota Minolta 88C-V - well planted and really easy to drive quickly and consistently.


The biggest disappointments:

Bugatti Veyron - an engineering masterpiece but handles like a high speed blancmange.
Lamorghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce - promised so much, delivered so little.
X2010 - stupidly quick, doesn't actually exist, has no rivals and as such is merely a trophy car that has no point in the game.


I'm sure this list will change as I work through the 1000+ cars but that's going to take a looooong time.
