0-60mph 3,5s enough said the Porsche Carrera GT does it in 3,9s !!!
very few cars accelerate this fast don't know any in fact maybe a Noble or so...

edit:
oh yes forgot the atom...

Where are you getting these times from?

0-60 in 3.5 sounds about right. In the C&D tuner shootout, the Vishnu Evo (around 400hp) did 0-60 in 3.4s (and it was the fastest 0-60 time of the day there, beating 800hp Vettes and Vipers).

Very few street legal cars will do 0-60 faster than that. Ferrari Enzo, Ariel Atom, and maybe a Caterham R500, and a Saleen S7 are capable of a superior 0-60, depending on the specific car and the skill of the driver.

That's only because it the Evo has the advantage of all-wheel drive traction. If it was a race from a roll, the Evo wouldn't stand a chance especially given its massive turbo lag.

Top Gear paper magazine...there's a written review of the car.

Thanks, but I tend to be skeptical of "paper magazines" performance times and evaluations. Especially if there are a lot of advertisements.

The Chateram and Ariel Atom are street legal in the US??!?!?!

yeah I agree but the fact is it's the paper version of the tv show you're all taking about and the articles are written by the same people on tv...Clarckson,Hammond,etc...unless you want to say everything on this video is fake the paper should also be considered as reliable ;)

the lambo is 4wd too btw more powerful and it still is slower too fat I think

and about the turbo lag keep in mind what they tried to show here is not that the car can't beat a Fiat Stilo..it's only that if you want to drive everyday with it unless you want to feel like Sebastien Loeb and change gears ALL the time you better take another car, if you keep in the power range I'm sure there's no problem even form a rolling start.

That's what they disliked..the fact that it's really a track racing car and not really a street-ca.

From my 27th April 2004 UK Autocar magazine, the 0-100-0 issue.

Since these cars have been mentioned here are some 0-60mph times for them. And ome other cars to compare the times with.
0-60mph:
Mitsubishi Evolution VIII FQ330: 4.58 seconds
Lamborghini Murcielago: 4.00 seconds
Ariel Atom 275: 3.22 seconds
Caterham R500 Evolution: 3.21 seconds
Porsche Carrera GT: 3.72 seconds
Ferrari Enzo: 3.52 seconds
Ruf CTR Yellowbird: 3.65 seconds
Suzuki GSX-R 1000: 2.64 seconds

Could 70hp more really take more than a second off the 0-60 time? I think that 3.5 seconds is a very optimistic claim.

they didnt just increase the power :dunce: its probably more efficient running engine, maybe better suspension, weight balance, aerodynamic, blah blah

I'm not saying everything on the video is fake. However, just because I enjoy the show and talk about it doesn't necessarily mean I have to take what they say as fact.

Exactly, the Murcielago weighs almost 4,000 lbs. with a driver!

The only reason why the car is capable of 0-60 in less than 4 seconds is because it has all-wheel drive. From a rolling start, the car's AWD system doesn't have as significant an effect as it does from a rolling start. Throw in the turbo lag, which you still get from a rolling start anyway (albeit not as much as from a low rpm), and I still believe that a Murcielago could out-accelerate it (depending on who is in what gear).

I didn't say that the only thing that Mitsubishi had done was increase the power but with the Evo 8 FQ400 the most significant addition that would aid acceleration performance would be the extra power.

actually I "think" the turbo is a different one in the FQ400
in the magazine they say it has been changed for a larger Garrett one,not sure if the change they are speaking about is from a standard one or already the FQ3xx

Oh okay, I haven't had a chance to read about it in any magazines yet unfortunatley, it will be good to get a another point of view on the subject. Was the test in the Top Gear magazine?

did anyone save the video of the 'fq400 vs. the murcielago'?? i've been searchin for it all night over the internet, but all the links are dead... so did anyone save it and host it anywhere???

If you can be bothered waiting you can get it off Racingflix

http://www.racingflix.com/getvideo.asp?v=928&p=6

or if you want to join this site you can get it here

http://www.lancer-evo.net/community...e_id=142&sid=00daa8dccb355de5fdc9f0ef9b6e9111

Hope that helps, I couldn't find a proper link, it seems that there was only one site which had that video and every forum had the same url listed.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Strange, I don't even remember seeing that video at racingflix.com....:odd: Thanks! :O 👍

yea i joined racingflix just to watch the video... but it takes forever to download :(

i've watched it a couple times already :D but its always nice to go back and watch it again. and i also wanted to post it on another forum :( oh well... thanks

Not a problem. If I had money I'd go premium at RacingFlix then leech everything. They've got some really cool videos that I haven't seen anywhere else but I can't be bothered waiting 2-3 days for something to download.
