I just drive it like i would with any Midengine rwd vehicle. Feather the throttle on turns and no sudden jerky movement and you're gold..

I left TCS and ABS both on 1 like i do with all races. All i did to my Elise was buying soft sports tire and went in to brake controller and made it 7 front and 3 rear.

an elise in real life can actually be a handfull, they can be on rails around tight turns but with them being an MR theres a fine line that if you oversteer you can lose it so easily, the problem is with the game controllers, i used the dpad for this challenge i find it better on more sensitive cars

Nice to know i'm not the only one struggling with this challenge.

I've got 2nd place with +1.5s to the first car without skid recovery after ~5 hours of killing my wrists... Skid recovery is tempting but I'll yet refuse to 'cheat' ... :)

Back to 'work' then...

I felt this is one of the hardest events to gold that I came across in the game.

Hm.. It seems really easy with a wheel.. To me, by far the hardest challenge in the game is (that i have encounter yet) is the top gear van challenge. :O

This challenge is really pissing me off!!!! I know how to drive, its just the slightest tap from another car and I am disqualified!!! I was in first on the second to last turn and the AI dumbass rear ended me pushing me off the track!!!!! F this challenge!!

Quite a challenge this one, took me like an hour to get 1st, the elise is quite a handful with no aids. You need to outbrake many cars in most turns or youll get nowehere.

For the first corner, a trick I use is to brake way too late, your car will go into lambo mode and start spinning, then just power slide through the outside corner passing two cars at once.

What the hell! The real driving simulator!?!? I'm pretty sure the Lotus handles a little better then that! Anyone else having trouble? Got any tips?

-Sorry for the complaining; really just venting!

i do believe some of the driving aids have been switched off... but! You can use the crazyness to your advantage and powerslide past them, which is how i achieved gold.👍

I'm sorry but we need to make a petition or something to tell the makers of this game that this event has huge flaws. I know it is possible to get Gold and I've gone close to getting it but what bothers me is the fact that it's SO unrealistic the way the Elise handles in this even. I've spun out hundreds of times barely...and I mean BARELY tapping on the break. They need to fix this in the next upgrade.

/venting also >:

Hmmm...I think my post got deleted. Anyway. All in all this challenge has completely changed my view of this game. I've played countless hours of it and the amount of frustration caused by the unrealism in this event is lower even to that of Forza...1. 6 years for this? seriously?

Welcome to the 'Planet, Speedster. As a new member, your first handful of posts need to be approved by mods before they appear in threads. This takes time for us to get to. I edited your two posts together, enjoy your stay!

I understand your frustration with this game. I am HUGELY disappointed with some things in this game. Loving it nonetheless, but still, this time, PD really really disappointed me.

I redid this tonight and I got gold. It was so much fun. Don't brake for Chicago period and you will pass 1-2 cars. I got the lead out of Hammerhead on lap 2.

I changed my gas and brake to L2 and R2 and i passed it the first time after that, i had a hard time with the pressure sensitivity with the stick, i know everyone is different but it may be worth a try for some, Cheers

Honestly, I love this game. As most of you I have played all of the GT series since the first one and actually got to beat all of GT4 with my brother. It's just frustrating to see some parts of this game be so amazing and others parts, such as this TG even, fail so miserably. Sure I can get gold...but that's not the point.

You should be running 1:28's and try going on the outside on some of the turns since it gets you in the inside line for the next corner

Yeah this was by far the hardest challenge for me (lvl 18 so far). It is also the only thing so far where I had to turn on assists. I used TC 3, Skid Recovery on and ABS cranked to 10. Got second pretty much by luck.

Anybody know if there is a worthwhile prize for Gold? If not then I'll leave it at silver. Also the challenge is so unlike Top Gear. I mean they cheat and crash all the time in Top Gear lol. Don't know what they were thinking giving you the worst tires in the game either. Whoever dreamed up that race is sadistic.

First day I did it, took 30ish tries just to finish and get bronze, kept getting bumped and DQed...next day, I drove more calmy, managed gold in less than 10 tries.
I did use TC 1 or 2 (couldn't remember) and the slip assist thingy.
Anyways, first time I did it, I was like man how come the elise handles like crap, then of course I realized the comfort hard tires, even the real elise runs soft/medium S tires. And in a mid engine car at high speed, if you're loading on 1 side of the car eg. follow thru and lift off the gas and go right back on it to adjust ur direction, ur just gonna get blown away.
It's a good game, its just at times, the challenges gets depressing, in a realistic way...but still depressing nonetheless :D

Honestly... guys.. I have played every GT in history.. I finished 2:nd in GT Academy Sweden.. This is in my book by far the most challanging test ever in GT history. A lot of you that post here did it in less than 30 tryes you say, and says its easy.. Are you guys completely honest? I did it in maybe 100-200 tries.. Aprox. 5-10 hours of effective driving.. how many hours by the screen i dont want to think about :-) Im not writing this to blow my own horn or anything, its just that many posts give a shine of an easy task.. Well, you dont fool me, cause its not. Offcourse it depends on if you always drive this car in your game as soon as you get the chance and are used to its handling.. But most of us probably drive other cars like Ferrari, Lambos, Bugattis or any other exotic cars you can pick from in the game.. Im curious about the last AMG Academy test.. Guess its the SLS in rain.. Lets se how hard that one is.. probably not as the Lotus 111R challenge i guess

I just spent about an hour and a half on this test and ended up with 2nd place as my best finish - by .962 seconds. :grumpy:

I had gotten 2nd place by 00.096 seconds at first, but once you figure out how you got 2nd all you have to do is be more daring and get first. Attack Chicago at full tilt and brake late into Bacharach and Gambon. If you do this, you will be able to overtake quite quickly.

^ Don't worry - I'll be going back in there and taking that pompous punk down. :trouble:

So after struggling on this challenge for over an hour I realized that there is no way anyone can win this with the stock settings, therefor I tinkered a bit and bam, won on the first try.

The key is to make your brakes more front biased. I set my fronts at 9 and the car would stop in a perfectly straight line. On my first try I was neck and neck with the first place car by the end of the first lap. On the second lap I took him before even reaching the hammerhead.

Edit: traction control and stability management were also off.
