As much as Id love to, for the sanity of others Im not going to list possible uses for toilet rolls just to sustain a stupid argument that should of been errr shall we say flushed away a long time ago...

Some people may indeed only use "toilet rolls" for one particular purpose laying their in a room used just by them even occasionally. Yet some may use them for various purposes and more frequently. I suppose you could say peoples needs wants/requirements are different just as people themselves are very different.

The question like before is does it matter?

Let's be realistic here...I didn't buy any hardware specifically for the Gran Turismo series. I'd have a HDTV anyway regardless, and have owned a PS1, PS2, and PS3 for plenty of reasons other than Gran Turismo. Therefore, listing such hardware is kinda' pointless.

So, what has the franchise cost me?

Gran Turismo - £40
Gran Turismo 2 - £40
Gran Turismo 3 - £35
Gran Turismo 4 - £35
Gran Turismo 5 Prologue - £18

Total - £168

Not bad for over 10 years worth of racing enjoyment. Chances are I'll buy a G27 and Wheelstand Pro when GT5 does launch though.

I bought my PS3 because of the GT franchise, and I bought my HDTV because of my PS3. Seems like we are both in similar boats in that regard, and as you play other things on your PS3 and HDTV like I do, then I still stand by what I have been saying all along. You bought those items because of GT5, not for the sole purpose of playing GT5. Fair enough regarding the wheel and racing seat - if you are only ever going to use those for GT5, they qualify nicely.

Now, has that sunk in at all, or do I have to repeat myself too? :rolleyes:

At the time of purchase the sole purpose was for GT5. Just so happens that I can use these items for other purposes should I chose to do so. So because of this I was correct in listing my items because like I say at the time of purchase the sole reason was GT5.

No doubt you will disagree so why not just save time arguing and just say you're right and im wrong lol. You're obviously one of these persons who is never wrong, reminds me of an ex girlfriend lol.

The answer depends. Am I interested in continuing the topic of potential uses for toilet rolls? If so, then yes, it matters. If not, no, it doesn't, but the same can be asked of the purpose of making the thread in the first place. However, the thread is here, and I simply questioned its value and validity.

In terms of needs and wants, if somebody told me they bought a toilet roll specifically to clean some jam off the GT5 disc, that's fine. I'd accept that as a GT5 related cost - it was bought SOLELY TO PLAY GT5. However, if they simply used some existing toilet roll that was bought for ass wiping, I would not accept that as a GT5 related cost.

However its recently come to light to me that even in other threads particulary the 3D topic again your insistance of informing everyone how useless or a waste of time 3D is.
Even though very few people have got to try GT5 in 3D somehow you already can determine it wont be any good. Now people may think that could be true it may not be much use but then you attack just about every comment from anyone trying to be positive regards 3D.

Here you are in seperate threads attacking people, arguing for no real particular reason or benifit. Also you noted in a recent thread you have played GT5P for about 5 hours. Its possible to then assume youve likely spent more time on these forums arguing about GT5 than you have actually tried to play it. For me here we have a guy that talks a lot of talk for the sake of attention.

Now tell me why should anyone give you much credit for your attitude, being spitefull, not giving others the benifit of the doubt or allow them to have their own opinion.
I havnt been posting here frequently enough to know of your past posts or nature, although I see your no stranger to arguing or disagreeing with others.

I'm as reasonable as they come, not afraid to speak my mind, and happy to eat humble pie if required. Sensible replies spark sensible debate and discussion. Schoolboy replies such as "You can't afford a 3DTV" or "You are jealous" do not.

Why, well because you were having a go at anyone listing components and you seemed to make it your duty in telling them what was or wasnt a GT related purchase.
Premium sub, gives me no advantages, it does mean though that Ive paid good money to constantly read you arguing in various threads with little time for others for what seems the pure sake of arguing.

Yet you refer to saying sensible replies spark sensible debate and discussion.
By all means I could quote several of your replies over the last day or so from a few threads that are far from being sensible or are even made regards discussion instead they usually are to cause a reaction it seems.

Instead, you ignored that request, so why should I listen to anything you have to say? Paying a premium does not give you the right to post against the AUP.

Now, you've said your piece, and I've said mine. I trust you are man enough to let this be, and do as I asked before if you feel the need to continue.

My genuine apologies all around to those who felt offended, that was not the intention. I still stand by my reasoning that if you use your PS3 and HDTV for other things, they should not be included in the list, regardless of whether or not GT5 was the catalyst for purchase. That's not me having a go, that's just me saying how I see it. If you disagree, that's fine. If you can provide a perfectly rational justification, even better.

So. Anyway. I didn't buy a PS1 for GT1/GT2, but I have bought four copies of GT1 and three of GT2

GT1s PAL - £24
GT1 NTSC-J - £8
GT1 NTSC-UC - £7
GT2 PAL - £30
GT2 NTSC-J - £5
GT2 NTSC-UC - £9

PS1 cost - £83

And, while technically I didn't buy a PS2 just for GT3/4, I did buy 3 others just for GT4

PS2s PAL - £100
PS2 NTSC-J - £150

Oh and three copies of GT Concept (2001 Tokyo, two copies of 2002 Tokyo-Geneva), three of GT3 (all regions), two of GT4P (PAL, NTSC-J) and 5 of GT4 (3 PAL, NTSC-J, NTSC-UC)

PS2 total - £430

Neither of my PS3s are just for GT5/P and nor is my HD screen - which mainly sees MW2 actions - but I do have three copies of it (NTSC-J, PAL, SpecIII NTSC-J)

The PSP wasn't bought just for GT either - though I know some people did buy one for just GT - but I do have two copies of that also.

In terms of equipment, only the three PS2s already included were GT-specific. None of the PS2/3 peripherals really count as GT-specific - speakers, screen, headsets, PS3Eye - except the Logitech DFP (£50) and G25 (£150). And of course my driving rig which cost next to sod all.

And then there's LANs. I've attended three in Wycombe, one in Sheffield (for which I built a venue), three in Newark, one in Banbury, one in Holland and four locally (for which I also built a venue).

LAN total - £1,500

So, only including consoles bought specifically for GT (the NTSC-J PS2) and GT LANs (two of the PAL PS2s), and without the cost of any of the hardware bought just to play the consoles on...

PS1 total - £83

Grand total - £2,500 (forget the £3, it's only ballpark anyway)

Im thinking of buying a second hand PS2 and GT4. However can anyone advise where I might be able to pick up a copy of GT4? I don't fancy using Ebay due to past experience!

Also a message to TD. I noted you don't currently own a wheel. I strongly recommend you buy one because I very quickly learn't whilst playing GT5P that you need one if playing on professional settings. I did get used to using the pad but I couldn't set fast laptimes like I could on standard settings. Seems professional has been designed for use with the wheel.

Maybe I should just try EBay then. The only reason im cautious is because a friend of mine gave me his PSP but it didn't come with a battery. I have bought 2 PSP batteries from EBay and none of them worked. If anyone has a spare battery for the PSP2000 slim please help me by sending me a PM.

I've just worked out that I've spent ~£1200 on petrol getting to those LANs...

I don't know what else I've spent on GT as I can't recall how much everything cost me, but I have bought a PS1, 3 PS2s, a PS3, a PSP, GT, GT2, GT3, GT Concept, GT4 Prologue x2, GT4 x2, GT5P, GTPSP.

I have also bought a MOMO racing, a DFP, a G25 and a playseat, although they were/are used for PC sims too.
 
I tried to factor in petrol - it was considerably less for the last four LANs :lol:

I also forgot the Scotcho :D

I hate recommending this store, but here we go:

I was in a WalMart last week and they had a huge pile of copies of GT4 brand new going for about $20 each. It looks like they're clearing them out now, which makes no sense whatsoever but there you have it. Try your local branch of this hideous cyclops of a retail outlet, and you may be lucky!~

Ebay is great too, but I would just make sure to always use a "power seller". Also, I don't ever bid on anything (maybe because I a lazy), but just find a good deal that is "buy it now".

By the way, the only thing I was burned on from ebay... an extra psp battery, but it only cost me 8 bucks.

Try for used copy at video store, or online game store (Game Stop sells used games).

Anyway,try Ebay, you just need to make sure the person you are dealing with is good.(I only buy from people with 98%-100% feedback).
 
I have spent:
- 30 euros on GT3
- 30 euros on GTC
- 40 euros on GT4P
- 60 euros on GT4
- 40 euros on GT5:P

This amounts to 200 euros.

Everything else I bought and the money I spent (3 PS2s, 1 PS3, 2 wheels - DF and G25 - and a playseat evolution) can't be blamed on GT.

As an example, between 2005 and 2007 the hours I spent with Enthusia alone outweight the hours I spent with GT4 by about 10 to 1. Not to mention TDU and TRD3 online. From 2008 onwards, I'd estimate the time spent with GT5P as even with the time spent with FC. Nowadays SCC and F1:CE take the top of my game-pile.

Yep. The point was that I haven't seen GT4 new or used at any other location for a very, very long time. $20 local would probably equal or beat an ebay price with shipping and waiting factored in.

Gamestop had about 10 GT4's in the bargain bin for $10, and I even picked up another GT3 for $1.99! It was in better shape than my own.

Hadn't thought that they may be clearing them out, though. Hmmmm......💡
