Massive game for Arsenal tonight..

Maybe, maybe not.;) Fenerbahce could end up thrown out the day after the second leg anyway. If that happens Arsenal will go through anyway. Obviously Arsenal want to win regardless, just in case Fenerbahce win their appeal.

0-0 half time then, Arsenal the better team...

Watching the Arsenal game.

What an armpit of a game that is. I knew Fenerbahce was poop, but Arsenal?

3-0 to the Arsenal then...a bit predictable...

Fenerbahce have been excluded from this years Europa League and nexts season Champions League for Match fixing, no surprises there...

I get to post in this thread again. :D

So the 32 teams have been chosen. And now they're all getting drawn in groups together, tomorrow.

Just went and randomised a possible draw fitting to the UEFA criteria in that clubs from the same country need to be split half and half between Groups A-D/E-H. And ended up with this theoretical draw.

NOTE IN ADVANCE NOT ACTUAL GROUPS.

Looks like the randomiser did its real best with Group B. Seeing one of them possibly go early would be a surprise. And if it did come out like that I feel Dortmund would probably end up going. Austria Wien would surely come out of that with negative double digit goal difference and nul point.

Needless to say, a group like that would see Celtic gone easily. If they can barely handle Shakhter then there's no way they're going to contain Shakhtar. Not even Chelsea did that last year.

A Man U-Milan group would also be awfully tasty, but also very predictable. And Man City would have it awfully easy with that group. Knowing that they'd still fail miserably in getting out of the group. Again.

I'll probably do the same with the Europa League or something once that's done tomorrow. As if anyone cares about that.

And of course all of these predictions will most likely be horribly wrong. But you never know. I have powers like that, in my mind.

In addition: What happens in terms of Fenerbahce for the Europa League. Are they getting a replacement team is one group actually going to go one team down?

 Are we really gonna play the 'guess how Celtic do in the CL' game again? I think it's better if we all avoid this talk. :sly:

Let Liverpool in? :dopey:

Unfortunately they're too busy being held to extra time by League 1 teams.

(And their reward for that was seriously a trip to Old Trafford. I'm looking forward to it.)

But seriously, with Metalist it was an easy job because all they had to do was keep PAOK in the UCL and then they just gave Maccabi Tel-Aviv a free bye into the UEL because that's who Metalist would have faced. But Fenerbahce would have gone straight into the group stage anyway.

If you go back, Fenerbahce beat Red Bull Salzburg previously, who dropped into the Europa League playoff round and who are currently leading Zalgiris 5-0 on aggregate going into tomorrow's games. So what is the choice in that whole regard?

Brilliant result, and I must admit, I didn't think it was going to happen...

I missed the entire game as I was helping a mate move house tonight - it's now 1 am and I've had no dinner, although atleast he did buy me a couple of pints :dopey:

Still, a great night for Scottish football, and a worthy reward for Celtic after last year's achievements... I wonder if Lenny will be in Tennent's bar tomorrow night... I guess I will find out as I'm planning on being there anyway, but I can imagine that the Celtic hierarchy who sometimes frequent T will be in party mode over the next few nights...

For sure my friend. 👍

Was at the game tonight with my girlfriend, she had only been to one game despite being a huge fan of Celtic (and Real Madrid, oddly) and that was a motherwell game. Her face during YNWA was priceless. :dopey:

Student loan needs to come through in time for these tickets going on sale. Because a 3rd year computing science students needs something to brighten up the dullness.

I'm nervous for Sunday. A friend has said he expects Wisdom to start CB.

I honestly think they'll just run a three team group though. Unless Fennebache (can't spell) really screwed over a team in the process this season.

Couldn't sleep. It was like Christmas eve last night.

Roll on 4PM*. :D

*Count all the hullaballoo and the draw will be at 5PM

I love your excitement at being in the competition Classic!

This is going to be a very interesting draw and I think Juve should be in the top pot and not Arsenal..

Feeling sorry for Billy McNeil!
That was mortifying - thank goodness he only had to do the first eight balls...

Groups B & H already look tasty...

edit: Oh man, Celtic are in Group H with Barcelona, Milan and Ajax... :nervous::dopey: Massive ties, a great draw in one way, but Last 16 looks extremely unlikely!!

United with Shakhtar, Bayer Leverkusen and Sociedad....ill take that!!

Definitely! 👍

FC København is gonna have a hard time with Real Madrid, Juventus and Galatasaray. :dopey:

And Celtic is up against Barca, Milan and Ajax. Some interesting groups!

If anyone was watching the draw on Sky Sports News, Neil Lennon's reaction to the draw was hilarious. Anyway, a very good draw for United. Shakhtar, Leverkusen and Real Sociedad.

United got a good draw, though I was wishing it would be even better. All three of the other teams are solid enough but I'm not doubting qualification much at all.

Real Madrid and Juve have free passes to the last 16. PSG do too, and Bayern and Man City are the obvious choices to qualify from Group D.

Chelsea have by far the easiest of the draws, Schalke really aren't much to shout about, Basel aren't on their level and not even a long trip to Romania will stop them beating Steaua. They're my best tip for the max 18 points.

Arsenal...well, heavens. I'm definitely not expecting a 1st place. They'll have a titanic scrap for 2nd with Napoli, they're literally even in my mind. Obviously if things don't do their way at all then Marseille will easily reduce them to 4th.

Group G is an awkward and 'weak' one (depending on how you look at it) but I don't know if Zenit will be able to provide a proper challenge to Porto or Atletico. But hey, Austria Wien might actually scrape one point here!

Group H is clearly Barca and Milan's but obviously it's a historic looking one. Only Ajax will prove a chance for Celtic to get points.

Now of course there's the Europa League draw tomorrow (which no one cares about). But that'll be for its own thread (wherever it is)...

Also, it looks like a draw will be done between the play-off round losers to decide who replaces Fenerbahce. So we could get some bizarre wildcards in the mix there I think...

Umm I care about the Europa league this year as Swansea are in it #SwansinEurope :D

It was a fair and British joke. Still, at least you already kicked Petrolol's shins enough to be guaranteed qualification. (Petrolol even knocked out Bony's old club and my favourite Dutch team as well so Good Job. 👍 )

God knows what crazy groups are going to come out from the impossible to open balls of UEFA for the Europa League.

Great result for Celtic last night, but in that group, they'll be lucky to get 4th...
