LOL I don't understand the concern Latte. Judging by the way I do everything else I'm going to assume I'll be able to configure this. I'm just asking for advice on certain things because its always good to get different angles.

I'll post pics in chronological order once I start. Right now all I have is a steering wheel, shifter, center console and the door panels are on their way. I have lots of work to do. This is a long term project.

And for those that would say "Why" or "What a waste" remember, this is fun. Or at least to me it is regardless of outcome. The process is extremely fun.

Sorry if you thought I was hinting that the job was beyond your own talents...
Maybe you took me up wrong on that but I thought if you were getting something specially welded together etc

It is funny you mention "long term", I can relate to such (maybe more so than others) and I can also relate to the "journey" itself is part of the fun/experience.

Hope this helps below, not sure how accurate it is but gives a comparison on weight/loads?

If you want to have a collumn extension (good choice) you won't get away without welding and machining. Buying a racing collumn would be just a waste of money.

The Woodward column is $200, people are using them in their rigs. Sure you could take something to a machine shop a pay someone that much an hour to machine something. I'll get some images from someone that's used one in his rig.

Left888, just give it a rest, please.

I guess we both have different views on what "high-end" is or you don't seem to understand that my opinion varies to yours. I have not said that other peoples setups are rubbish or anything like that to offend anyone.

I hope I am allowed to have an opinion if that's alright by you but in my opinion I have yet to see a set-up with an audio/tactile configuration that blows me away. Several community rigs do in many other ways but not with the audio or tactile side of things. Of course I will be harder to please in this area, what you expect?

As for expensive rigs with well below par audio, sure their are many..

CXC Simulations start at $45,000 and you get a nice Logitech speaker set-up with them. Having what they refer to as a "mammoth subwoofer". By all means price the top of the range VRX imotion Z55. Guess what quality and brand of speaker package it uses?

Last I will comment on your continued off topic conversations.
How many times do you have to be asked to just ignore my posts.

More Importantly?
Mayaman can you give more detail in the build, when you say dash, door panels, are you having a modified dash with central seat and offset (passenger side of the dash). What do you do with the area for the passenger seat?

Latte you can have your opinion but usually it's the opinion that results in you having your licenses revoked or pissing everyone off. There are many high end rigs and I'm not talking about $45,000 bought rigs that aren't even worth a quarter of that. I'm talking about industrialist individuals that plan, and build a beautiful metal rig. One that has a lot of cnc work, all metal or aluminum rigs. Not some wood monstrosity with bits of chrome bolted to it and 50 transducers.

I received my GT2 factory Porsche steering wheel. I got the leather with carbon fiber model. I've removed the airbag and now I have a nice cavity in the wheel behind the airbag cover. Has anyone moved the buttons and flappy paddles from a CSR elite? I'd like to move them to the Porsche wheel.

I'm going to be using a steering column with universal joint, I found several on eBay.

Also got my GT2 door panels, really nice stuff. Stitched leather and the silver accents.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You'll notice the Woodward column connects to the wheel base behind the pedals. He has just enough clearance above his pedals. This is the only photo he had ATM, once he tears apart his rig he said he will take close up photos.

Mayaman, nice to hear of some bits arriving.
I just remembered a recent post you started about tactile etc.

This......
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=273633

If you do wish to further discuss such at some point maybe that be the best place to continue it and keep this thread more on topic with general ongoings /purchases.

Left888:
Wooden Monstrosity?
Banned?
Proof of such?

Rather than spew more rubbish chatter or insults. I would gladly ask "left888" to be more creative than distruptive. If he wants a challenge then I put it to him to create a new thread all about tactile. Their is no definitive type info thread or forum, never mind dedicated website I know of or have seen that covers such.

No doubt Lefty you could get lots of information from your own vast experience and the guys you talk so much of at i-racing... Be great if you covered the differences in performance and how various models compare? So easy for you to do a really informative and member helpful topic on it, ahh cheers matey. 👍

Go ahead Darren, please lets see you cover the many aspects involved and required in the vast mine field it is. Of course giving information on the many different tactile models varying from approx $10 - $550 each. Lets not forget isolation as it is essential for performance covering the cheap rubber isolators at a few bucks all the way upto $60 each and industrial spring coil isolators costing around and beyond $100 each. What do they do for wooden floors or people in timber based houses or apartments etc?

I assume of course you or your buddies have personally bought such out of personal hobbyist interests? Of course with a goal of testing and comparing them against one another in various roles? What's that, oh your not sure?

If not, then being the helpful guy I am, I recommend you head over to "Parts Express". They recently started selling "Buttkicker" so they are now the largest and best dealer to find all the major brands and products for this tactile nonsense.

Heads up...
I wouldn't want to suggest my own ideas are certain to give a good configuration and well not before testing when building can verify such.

However...
Approx $2000 will get one of each model just to learn and gain some knowledge. Although don't forget your amplification, cables etc. Of course if you were to get silly and decide to go for a unique but specialist build complete with a performance based "wooden monstrosity platform" then a configuration like my own will come in around $6500 in tactile and amps. Don't worry though as they are giving away a free baseball cap with the Behringer EP amps I recommend. Now having 50 tactile would be silly Darren, no need to over do it, of course ahh you were being funny, eek.

Right well whenyou get that lot then see about adding room acoustic tiles and say a decent 7.1 audio system with recommended speakers for around another $4000.

Of course if being adventurous and experimenting then adding another 4x additional subwoofers into the actual cockpit is optional but worth considering if you have an appropriate platform for the cockpit to be placed on. Well it is just that Clark themselves recommend such for large areas or multiple tactile and using solid timbers were possible. I can only assume it is an important factor as is creating individual isolated platforms to minimise tactile crosstalk (tricky and needs various attempts) over say just using some naked 80/20 bolted together and a few cheap rubber isolators on the corners or a typical metal cockpit but of course you'd know best. Best allow another $1000 to cover materials for this if considering such a platform to build up from.

I am sure the community would benefit greatly with you doing such in the future..
I am only a dreamer with stuff in boxes you see although if you need some spare chrome and bolts. Might be your man.

As always thanks for the entertainment... :)

I am only a dreamer

Yes we know this Mr Late, I'm sorry but I'm not interested in reading any of your diatribes

Let's keep to the facts, every thread you try to hijack and you try to convince everyone that they should build their rig just like yours (none as of yet).

You only rejoined iRacing after Henk informed members here about SimVibe. Within 1 month you manage to get the CEO of SimVibe to leave this site because of your constant arguing.

You tried to tell all the members at iRacing that you were some sort of tactile guru and you were laughed right out of iRacing. Berney told you he was revoking your SimVibe license because of your constant trolling in the SimVibe threads.

In 3 years at iRacing you have a grand total of 3 or 4 races. This shows the members you are their for one reason only (trolling)

I am not interested in reading anything else from you Mr Late, you are on ignore from now on.

My GT2 door panels/Airbag cover/Shifter assembly/ arrived at work and are waiting for me. Bad news though is I was involved in a car wreck and my car was totaled. So I haven't been able to pick the stuff up. :(

anyway, been doing tons of research. Pretty convinced that putting together the interior is a piece of cake. It will be deciding on Dbox vs. SimXperience that is proving the most challenging. Dbox I'm familiar with but the cost of another 4 actuator setup is almost 9 times that of a SimXperience one seat. But that brings its own difficulties in how I design the enclosure.

I may go with just GS4 seat. anyway, until I feel better thats all for now.

Most SimXperience rigs that I have seen are just basic frame. That is a welded frame with the rear actuator's. I suppose this is level 1? I know the_greeze has that setup and he is happy with it.

In regards to fastening all your doors and dash I couldn't say if it will work the way you want. Berney is the guy to talk to I suppose.

If you had Dbox would you have the it so the whole structure moves?

Hope you feel better soon mate 👍

Yes Dbox would move the entire structure. That woodward column looks great. Hopefully he'll have more pics that left can post.

Bought a AutoMeter 10,000 rpm Tach which I'm assuming works with Revburner.

All the speedometers I'm seeing say "GPS" enabled. Which Speedo work with Revburner?

Which tach model Auto Meter did you buy? mine is model # 6858

Look Here for a 200 MPH speedo from Auto Meter

P.S. I don't think you will have much success asking Cristiano to help you build your dash.

Ignore gps enabled.
any of the Electronic Programable Speedos from AutoMeter will work.
just get a speedo that matches your Tach and you do not need any senders for the speedo. just purchase the speedo on it`s own and connect it as shown in the diagram i sent you.

note - avoid mechanical speedos or tachs
must be electric !!

..................

My post in No.64 deserved none of your personal attitude, like many past times, it seems impossible to have a discussion without you dishing out insults.

Whatever your current issues you have with me are is your problem and to be honest nobody cares.

Mayaman hope your well.
Apologies for this nonsense once again.

I will concentrate on my own build...

The guy who owns that Porsche cluster from the UK is looking to sell it. He said it is using air cores and a controller. Can I use this with Rev Burner? He's using the old software from that company that is no longer in business, can't remember the name.

Anyway, whats an air core? LOL

To know if they would work it would be preferable to know what make of gauge he is using. the tach would probably work but the speedo is iffy. the speedo would need to be using a square wave signal.

Well been combing both the symproject forums and all over the web and can't find anything on what works with the rev burner. Also nothing on air cores. So far this is the most difficult part of this entire build. Novadave has given me some great info but I need more imput on parts I need to purchase to make this work.

thanks

Basically you need gauges that are "electrical" not "mechanical", shouldn't be to tough, no?
