Concept, on track, then the race.

However, look back to the DB9 and the 612 they both were tested only once but they included the review in the race rather than putting them onto the track. Still seems silly in my opinion to review the GTR twice in a series with only 6 episodes...
 
The GT40 was also done quite a few times, I guess when its a really big deal car they do more coverage, either that or its all based on 'what Clarkson wants to do!' :sly:

And the only reason they haven't done a second review of the Veyron is because VAG don't want them power lapping it. If anyone out who owns a Veyron decides want a day trip, they'd be perfectly welcome to lend them their car for a session thuogh. That's what happened with the Enzo.

Well, technically the Veyron has been tested 3 times: The Race, Top Speed Run and the Eurofighter Race. They haven't done a track test due to the reasons you said above, but I swear if they air another Bugatti test they'll over run and over hype the car. Don't get me wrong the Veyron can be great, but consider the people who want to see some different and new cars. The same story lies within this GTR situation, I don't want to see the GTR twice. I want to see something more intresting.

I'd be happy seeing a lap of the car, but there's probably nothing else to say about the car. I imagine the same will be true for the GTR, Jeremy will get most of the "review" out of the way during the race, and we might see a power lap later on.

I don't mind that at all, because I consider the power lap to be part of a standard review on that show. Without it, the review is incomplete, regardless of how many times they have the car on.

The GTR is being tested at Fuji Speedway, so unless they have one in the studio...Means there probably won't be a power lap.
 
I'd really like to see a power lap, but not a whole segment of re-reviewing the GT-R.
 
Why not? at the moment it's best bang for the buck, period. :D
 
Wow, awesome episode. That's probably one of the best races they've ever done. The concerntration on Jeremy's face when he was nearing the finish point made it believable. And :lol: at the whale songs CD!

Shame about the Alfa being poo to drive though...

Wow. That was a awesome episode, for a episode I thought would be frankly rubbish I was incredibley pleased. The race was incredibley close, at one point I just didn't know who would win at all.

Oh and I loved Bill Oddy, naughty him getting all those speeding tickets!
 
I still don't know how James and Hammond actually figured out where to go . It looked incredible confusing in their language.

And yeah, the Bill Oddy thing was funny. :lol:
 
The Bill Oddy mask was great, overall a great episode. The Alfa was dissapointing though, I know it's a fantastic looking car, but it's a shame they didn't make it perform as well as it's name deserves.
 
I would have given up at the first sign post probably...And when Jeremy accidently turned off the Sat Nav....:lol:
 
That was a really good episode, one of the great ones. the Japan segment was brilliant and I really expected them to pull something out of the bag if they went that far to film it. Pity we didnt see Stig's Japanese cousin though.

Clarkson and his dead fish snacks... hahaha hammond doesnt like fish and may goes youve come to the wrong country!

Oh and the bit were Clarkson messed up the sat nav and May and Hammond got on different trains.... all of it was funny.

It seemed like the car was irrelevant they didnt even really mention it all that much, it was much more about the race. When Clarkson got to the car park he thought that was it but he had to run up the steps... that was tense!

As for the rest I bet Clarkson was loving Fiona and Kate on the show..:sly: he even got spanked, bet he loved it! They were quite good guests and they are really attractive in the news reader kind of way :sly:.

Well yeah if you put it like that yes, but if you view it from a "non-car related show" angle you have to agree it was pretty close. The producers hyped this race up for being the closest one yet, and I agree fully with them. And actually, I'm not the only person knew who was going to win from the start, take a look at the FinalGear forums quite a few people thought it was going to be close.

My Dad laughed at the beaver reference, I'm not so sure he quite understand why I laughed so hard though...
 
Decent episode, the Alfa is truly a gorgeous car and I agree I don't care how crappy it is, I would take one in a minute.

I also agree with the Clarkson on the soulessness of the GT-R. Yes it's a technological marvel but it looks as if it's been designed and engineered without passion. I'm glad I'm not the only person that thinks that and that some who is "respected" in the automotive journalism world has a similar thought.
 
Great episode, it really has the Top Gear feel back. I liked the GTR race, and the Bill Oddy mask was awesome, I nearly pissed myself laughing when he showed that fuel attendent it :lol: The 8C was alrite, but really that slow? The SIARPC was kinda boring. 8/10 from me.

Typically I fast forward through them because I'm not familiar enough with British stars to really care, but I thought I would watch this because they were both fairly attractive. I liked them and thought it was rather entertaining.

And I always thought Clarkson was saying Bilody as in one single word, not Bill Oddie. :lol:
