I liked it, I thought it was nice to see them do a proper car comparison for the first time in ages. And although most people seem to be saying that the Salt top speed runs were boring, I enjoyed it especially that James seemed to get really into the whole thing. Out of all the cars there I'm not sure which I would have, am I counted as being weird if I wouldn't mind the Cadilliac?

Toss between the Challenger and that for me. I really do admire that CTS-V, and it looks really nice in that colour aswell. 👍

Is that a figure of speech, or do you Brits (even young Brits) really do that?
Why wouldn't we? :odd:

On the episode, I thought it was great. The Challenger looked the best but I'd take the ZR1 without hesitation, the ZR1 seems to be much more of a drivers car and on top of that the Challenger being automatic is a big no for me.

I'd have the Challenger, no question. I'm a bit like Richard in that I have a weird thing for muscle cars.

But the best car on the show was clearly the little Abarth! :D As Jeremy said, the 500 makes you happy when you drive it, but the Abarth is a little nutter. I want one so badly, I'm gutted too because the garage I got my 500 from is the main Abarth dealer for this area of the country. :(

Not to label Sage as an ethnocentrist, but as a lazy, consumerist culture we tend to either buy our "tea" in jugs, bottles or cans, or make the real thing by dropping the bag in a mug of water and nuking it in the microwave. Using a kettle and a stove is pretty much reserved for old people...or first- or second-generation Asian-americans. ;)

Who said he was making tea? Boiling the kettle is required for tea, coffee, hot chocolate, etc.

You make the real thing by microwave tea :odd:.

You don't nead to boil a kettle on a stove, you can use an electric kettle which most are these days. I don't know anyone that boils a kettle on a stove that I can think of. But yeah, wheather you're making tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc, we put the kettle on.

I assumed Sage made that assumption, since he was asking if it was a figure of speech. Though it doesn't make much of a difference with my post because to americans, the kettle remains an unusual choice of kitchenware for all of those drinks.

To be honest I don't know how widespread that method is, but I know people do it. On the rare occasion that I have a hot cup of real tea, I don't want to create an extra dirty dish (the motivation behind much of my microwave usage).

I actually found that out after my post, poking around on the internet. The wikipedia page even adds that the american understanding of the word "kettle" refers solely to the whistling stovetop variety. So now we both know.

Anyway, the first episode of the new season was funny, but I'd like to see more car reviews. Challenges are fun and all, but now it seems like they spend the entirety of every episode pulling stunts and injuring themselves. They're just going to quickly run out of ideas if they keep this up.

Assuming it's now been uploaded to the source I've found, I plan to watch the second episode today. :)

I really want a cup of tea now  I make mine by boiling a metal kettle on a gas stove, so I guess I'm a bit like an old man. ;)

Bet you use loose tea and a strainer.

It comes in handy bags now, you know.

Huh? You don't have to wash the kettle after you've used it!

My family puts the kettle (electric jug) on many times a day, for tea (in a bag) and coffee.

Never seen anyone microwave their water for tea (thought pretty much everyone had a kettle)

Clarkson, Hamster, and Captain Slow look terribly misplaced in The Colonies. One of the best Top Gear episodes, ever.

Oh... Challenger FTW!

Epic episode, I loved it. This was actually the first time I skipped SIARPC; I just wanted to get back to the feature. The Challenger is still crap imo (if only it wasn't so tall, it would have that low, wide stance I love about the old car, and maybe then the weight and soft suspension wouldn't bother me so much), but the CTS-V and ZR1 were every bit as good as I expected them to be. It's a shame they weren't given laps. The Abarth 500 was pretty cool too, I would not mind owning one.

I really liked this episode, and Jeremy's drift around that big corner was awesome.

It was pretty impressive i have to say!

Just watched it last night after Sky+'ing it on Sunday (so i could fast forward the SIARPC bit). A pretty good episode on the whole 👍

I watched it last night on iPlayer, good stuff! Really enjoyed everything from Jeremy's drift, to James' burnout and Clarkson always seems a little softer around the homosexual guests. Anyone else noticed that?

But yes, Star'Car needs to go now. Maybe replace the lap with a challenge(drift/handbrake park/drag race/topspeed)?

Oh and enjoyed the now inevitable controversy that Clarkson seems to cause every episode.

It's so much the lap that i mind, although watching a Lacetti going round and round a dull featureless airfield is wearing thin now, it's the interview bit i can't stand. If i want to watch a chat show i'll watch a chat show.

Most of the interviews are pretty awful, but I thought that the Will Young one was excellent. They really seemed to get on well. The last interview I can recall which went that well was the Lewis Hamilton one.

Yeah I though the interview this week was one of the best, but overall I'd like to see that part of the show cut down a bit. It's arguably the least interesting part of the show each week for me most weeks and I get the feeling that the interviews have got a bit longer in the last couple of series.

Just watched the episode today, and I find it quite "factual" really...... ;) The funniest part was when Jeremy actually started Richard's car and parked it in the middle of the road. That literally was the saddest (and funniest) thing that could happen on anyone. Must be one heck of a flawed design on Dodge part.....

My Renault has keyless go, although it knows when the key is inside the car, and won't start if it's not. I do have to put the key quite deep into my house though to make sure it's locked.

Strangely, the best interviews I recall have been ones with people I usually don't like. Will Young's was good, as was James Blunt's...

Dodge should be rather worried if Renault - a company that thought a 3 litre, 2 door MPV-coupe would be financially successful - have more common sense than them. ;)

Having said that, I'm doubting the credibility. Seems a bit weird that they didn't make sure it was properly locked in the first place - particularly as it was their car and presumably full of the camera and radio equipment they normally use. Meh.

Just managed to watch last weeks episode on iPlayer finally...I've just popped into this thread for a change to randomly say:
Did I hear Hells March track from Command and Conquer Red Alert during the mountian pass bit with the Corvette and the Cadillac? OMG. 👍

Maybe its because they started doing dual interviews, with two guests at once? Which they've stopped doing randomly now?

I believe so, that's what I recognised it as, t'was a nice little surprise as I hadn't heard it in a while.

I loved this weeks episode, I enjoyed all the sections, the SIRPC was alright also. I was almost crying at the V8 blender part

lol at the stairlift and the blender :)

I was hoping for a better car than the renault...

An old RWD would have put a better fight.

This was a great episode, though the car upgrade section could have been better. I can't believe they actually tried the drink from the blender.
