It wasn't only about Knight Rider. They were worried about what the hosts would say, which would have had them even more scripted than the BBC counterparts. Going to cable allows them more freedom.

I'm quite pleased with the decision, personally.

;)

I'm somewhat pleased too, I was never really looking forward to the USA version of Top Gear. I haven't seen an episode of TG Australia that I liked yet, and I can't picture a USA version being any better.

It's not even so much the content of the shows, just the fact that it's a "fake". It's like Rota wheels, they look the same, but you can just tell that they're cheap copies.

I am so completely bored with SIARPC, hope it gets dropped, sooner rather than later. Good episode though.

This week's episode was the best of the series so far. I've learned that BTCC is just like NASCAR, Jaguars with trailers don't fly very far, and the FCX will save Humanity.

The Touring Car bit was nice to see, shame they didn't spend more time on it. 2 out of the 3 cars Hammond drove, the Camaro and the Sierra, were not Touring car spec either from i could see. The episode on the whole seemed a little rushed to me, the awards especially were a bit messy - although it was good to see the Stig's Caterham R500 lap again, it looked fantastic.

Was a bit of a messy episode altogether, again looks like the cobbled little bits together. The awards were pretty bad and I was expecting more. The news however, was brilliant. 7/10 from me, can't wait for next week though.

both had been raced in touring/saloon races. the camaro stil runs in the heritage grand touring car championship, and the sierra competed and won the btcc in 1990

The Sierra may have been a Rouse prepared Group A BTCC Cossie originally - but not with those wheel arches it didn't! ;)

I know that Camaro also has genuine period history, but i'm not convinced that it runs to period regulations these days.

Makes me happy to see that the Jaguar in the Touring Car section was one that I've actually seen...

In all, a good episode, looking forward to the Vietnam special soon.

 Oh man that is funny. If you think NASCAR is anything like BTCC then you must not watch much of either. Nascar's are tube frames with a thin body laid over them and typically just race on ovals. BTCC cars are more showroom models and race on more road courses. No this is not a Nascar sucks post, but they are two very different motorsports.

Way, way, way back in the day they were similar, but these days, you're right. Damn 1980s and those drastic changes in motorsport!

I think he meant that they were similar in that the main attraction is the crashing?

What? The last time the BTCC has seen a road course is the 1990 Birmingham Superprix.....BTCC races strictly on race circuits only ever since. In fact, you'd be hard pressed to find many prominent race series' road courses in the UK at all beyond the Isle of Man TT and the North West 200.

He was most likely (and correct me if I'm wrong) referring to the more "road like" courses, as opposed to only turning left like most of the Nascar circuit.

;)

Nowadays they're very different - the closest thing we have in Europe to NASCAR is the DTM. However, back in 1963, one of the cars Jack Sears used to win the championship with was an imported NASCAR Ford Galaxie.

I think Joey means road courses in the American sense, i.e. not ovals. Edit: Tree'd by the doctor.

This one was supposed to be longer than the last one, which was only six episodes. I forget how long it was going to be, though. They're off this week, that's why there's no new episode, they'll be back on next Sunday.

Yeah.

I wish they'd open up the forum for everyone to see, I'd love to see more reactions there.

It was open. They locked it down after getting about 4 million visitors the day after the first Marina episode.

It's hiding such gems as "Clarkson, Hammond and that other floppy haired tw*t" and "I hope Clarkson dies", and, in response to a post on some Top Gear forums which I will not namecheck "That's nothing short of abuse!"...

Not the brightest chaps there.

Upon registration to the Marina club is documented proof required of a lack of humour? I'm just waiting for TG to buy a Marina and stick a "B1T ****" numberplate on it
