The dilemma is like Chris Harris said in his article on Jalopnik is no other car show tries to be funny and imitate Top Gear, other car shows tend to be more "car oriented", getting new presenters for Top gear means that it's probably a lose-lose situation, they have to be humorous and be more Top Gear-y which whoever they get will probably fail at it and if they switch to being more car oriented they'll lose the average joe.

It's sort of like they'll be the new Top Gear America, heck Top Gear USA is probably now the flagship Top Gear.

What comes next? I have no idea. I’ve always struggled to understand how Jeremy could do his thing on a commercially-funded channel. I suppose therein lies the crazy paradox at the center of this whole episode. Jeremy and his pal Andy Wilman turned a car program into a mouthpiece for an entire tranche of middle England fed-up with the nanny state and in search of simple entertainment, but the only place it could flourish was within a quasi-state-funded broadcaster that didn’t have to answer to advertisers, but which is fundamentally left-leaning and against the type of personality Jeremy represents. It would be easy to conclude that they couldn’t live with each other, and that they won’t be able to live without each other.

I don’t think it’ll end like that. I suspect TG will continue on the BBC, and it might well succeed. But much more interesting is where the three chaps who’ve redefined the space will end up. We probably won’t have to wait too long to find out.

I suppose this epoch had to end at some point. The manner in which it might well have ended is regrettable, and I want to remind everyone that there are many talented people who work on all the TG brands – the telly crew, the magazine, the events and much besides – who must be ******** themselves right now, and I think we should spare a thought for them.

Making fun of May by implying he's homosexual. Not hard to understand why some are offended.

On the other hand, the show's "offensiveness" is evenly distributed and everyone gets a chance to participate, especially caravanners and Americans (and older drivers, and environmentalists, and Peugeot owners and . . . ). And they've had gay guests on and treated them as friends. You might say they're playing at being offensive, with malice towards none.

When you "offend" yourself, you know exactly how the offended party is going to take it. You're not going to see someone offend themselves to a degree that it actually gets under their own skin.

He also tweeted his thanks for the show of support he has had since the incident with a pic of a box of standard size Snickers sent to him with a note on it saying 'your not you when your hungry'! :lol:

Right just realised that those two tweets were from a parody account and not his actual account, very sorry for that and I now feel like a dick! Carry on people, nothing to see here!!

The Youtube comment section never fails to amaze me. I've never seen so many people angry at a video of a car driving around a track. I get that there's no commentary from Clarkson (big whoop), but these "fans" really have to make a big deal out of nothing.

They can just follow Clarkson to whatever show he's going to do next. Not a big deal.

For some reason that is hard to explain... I liked that. And I would probably watch it if it was a legit thing, just don't know why I would do that.

Some of the noisier Top Gear fans have shown to be some of the most unpleasant people ever. Their lack of respect for other car programs shows just this. Just look at their intolerance for Fifth Gear or Top Gear US.

Consequently, I'm not surprised that there are morons who blame Oisin Tymon for what has happened to Top Gear or the death threats that Tony Hall has received.
