Wasn't quite sure where to put this as there is the other thread but there was an interview with James May in the MoS supplement magazine 'Event' yesterday, in it he says he regrets the way Top Gear end, but not for the reason you might think
'Even then it wasn't a proper bar brawl, so we failed at being proper blokes. It should've been a lot of bottles going through windows and some sword-fighting an stuff. That would've been great. But it wasn't, it was just all a bit.....yeah......lets not talk about that anymore'
May reveals he did actually get a bit worked up with JC after the incident after he put an order in for a 458 Speciale for nearly a quarter of million which he would have then struggled to play for.
the interview then goes to the new show on Amazon, and you can forget about calling it 'Gear Knobs'..
'I don't think we can actually call it that, that's not possible. It was actually my idea. I think its funny, but I don't think its appropriate. We haven't got a name for it yet. Honestly we haven't'
He then talks about the new shows reported budget and he says it isn't as much as the media make out but he says 'We are going to spend a lot' on the show , and the show will be out 'probably the early Autumn-next year'
The interview was to promote a show that May will be presenting on the BBC....about cars! called 'Building Cars Live' cameras will follow every moment in the production of a car, from the arrival of steel sheets to the moment it drives of the production line, not known which car but it sounds like it will be MINI as he was speaking from their conference room at their factory in Oxford, co-presenter will be Ant Anstead and Kate Humble (???) and it will be on BBC2 on 20th and 21st at 7.30 with two 90 minutes shows
