Will they be given the same budget as they were by the BBC? These days they have challenges all over the world and often smash brand new cars to bits for fun.
 
Amazon most likely has a budget larger than the BBC, so probably.

I say good luck to the trio on their new show, but £79 a year is absolute hell to pay for a simple subscription service. Lucky I have a contingency plan for when it does come out.

I was going to say it could be worse, but then I did the exchange to USD and it comes out to $123.16. Prime is only $100...

Yeah, it all depends on how much use you can get from it. I have found their streaming services useful (movies, TV shows, and music).

It should be apparent that it's because he's a prick. What does that have to do with what I said about disliking him very much indeed?

The context, incidentally, was in a discussion about which TG presenter would buy what car if they weren't famous and had £30k. My answer was that Clarkson and May were "car guys" in different senses - Clarkson would buy the GT86 because it's the most obvious fast car (he might try and haggle £2k off a V8 Mustang now though) and May would buy a sensible estate car like a Mazda 6 or Mondeo because it's the best all round tool, the sensible choice and he'd have money left over - while Hammond would buy a base X1, spec the tits off it (and debadge it) because he's not a car guy, he's a prick. So again, the reason should be apparent.

He's disingenuous. Tacky. And not at all funny. Pretending to be a mini-Clarkson, trying to push boundaries with 'funny' or 'offensive' jokes does not help in the slightest.

You like wrestling; he's the Michael Cole of cars. Go away heat.
 
Hammond is an obvious foil - he's perfect for Top Gear, but rubbish in everything else.

I figured out who Hammond is - he's Joe Pesci.

The first Lethal Weapon film worked because it took the idea of mis-matched cop buddies and treated it as a serious, almost neo-noir film. It ended with Riggs and Murtaugh becoming good friends because they really needed the same thing: job satisfaction.

When it came time to make Lethal Weapon 2, the writers realised that they couldn't have Riggs and Murtaugh go back to sniping at one another. It worked in the first film, but they couldn't go back to it without undermining the first film, destroying the meaningful character development that made it work. So they introduced Joe Pesci's character, an annoying, unsympathetic little runt who Riggs and Murtaugh were saddled with, and since they couldn't get rid of him, they projected their frustrations onto him instead. In doing so, it kept the spirit of the first film without undermining it.

Therefore, if Clarkson and May are Riggs and Murtaugh, then Hammond is Pesci. He's a source of annoyance and frustration, but without him, the show would likely implode as Clarkson and May simply turned on one another.
