Wouldn't mind that suit-jacket he was wearing...
That’s what it looks like when one of my professors accidentally drops the chalkboard eraser on him or herself.

Good episode, but all of the studio bits felt like they were on fast-forward. Usually they like to slowplay things a bit, but here it sounded like they were trying to cram in as many jokes as possible, which doesn’t really suit them. I prefer lots of dry wit occasionally punctuated with jokes, not the other way around.

God bless JC and his big end-ness:

and yeah, it is a Nissan pickup for JC, but Hamster and May seem to have gone for the same things. Old carboats, new ideas and all that.

Thats pretty much what I felt, a good episode non the less, they could just relax things a little bit more.

On another note, I don't se a problem with hmmonds new look.

I may be a sick, twisted, idiot.... But I'd have the Aston in a heartbeat over the Lambo and the Porsche. I mean sure, I climb up the Porsche tree and bark at the neighbors from time-to-time, but the Aston is just sickeningly awesome. I don't mind being hot, I don't mind being uncomfortable... If its in the name of sport, I'm happy to play.

Then again, they didn't bring a Z06, which is a shame in itself...

Overall a very good episode, and I'm counting on the rest of the season to be as well. It looks as though they're crossing North Africa or somewhere in the Middle-East with a collection of cars... Should be interesting, that is, if they don't yell at each other the entire episode...

It was a decent episode, but I don't think it was one of the episodes that was high on the humor scale. For me the funniest part was seeing May driving naked after Clarkson's comment. That had me laughing for a good couple, maybe several, seconds.

You're crazy YSSMAN. That said whats the weather like in Michigan.? Cause if its anything close to warm, I don't think you'd be enjoying the Aston all that much. Especially since I don't think Michigan has the kind of driving roads they had in the episode. I could be wrong, but I never figured Michigan as having those kinda roads.

The one thing I loved about that Aston though was the noise that engine made. Like a motorist wet dream. Absolutely HATED the paintjob though.

My choice is tough. Whereas I'm a nut about the Gallardo, everytime I see one I just stare, the rear shots of Hamsters GT3 pulling away from the camera really caught my attention. In the end, I think I would actually go for the GT3, but rather in the orange that Porsche offer for that 997.

Michigan weather is like England's weather except it snows a lot more in the winter. It's only warm in the summer but it sometimes gets warm late in the year...it was 90 today.

Michigan has some good roads but a majority of them are poorly maintained.

Hmm, then I guess the heating issue in the Aston wouldn't be all that big a problem as it was in the episode.

Quite right, we're in the middle of a surprisingly warm "Indian Summer," but on average the weather isn't much different compared to the majority of England or (Northern) Germany. We do get quite a lot of snow, more here on the West side of the State as compared to the East side (where Joey is), and my guess is that roads aren't maintained nearly as well here as they are in parts of the Detroit/Ann Arbor area.

...That being said, the roads aren't too bad out here, you just have to know where to go. Given that Grand Rapids is built on a grid and much of the area outside of town is in fact farm land, the road will be straight and flat for miles, and miles, and miles, and miles.

However, being blessed with the Grand River valley near my home, there are several roads that are quite fun to blast up and down from time to time (even in the Jetta). They are by no means as beautiful or complex as those seen in the Episode of Top Gear, but being Michigan and all, they are quite nice... Rolling hills, some tight and smooth corners, plenty of room to get up to speed and have to really slam the brakes on. If it were not for my bicycle racing I would have never discovered these roads, but its a damn shame they're being developed now, a bit too much traffic at times to get done what needs to get done.

If you're ever in Grand Rapids (I doubt you ever would be), Grand River Drive and Honey Creek, as well as a small portion of Pettis are all great drives. I've always thought it would be awesome to have some kind of road rally out on those three roads since they all dump-out at the same places (all ends meet on two major roads), but the trees are likely too close to the road, and two-lanes doesn't necessarily facilitate the best conditions... Not to mention the poor condition of the pavement from time-to-time.

So yes, the Aston?

I could handle it. I like being hot, the difference here is that I'd dress properly before getting into the car; You know, shorts and breathable material pants/shirts to wick the sweat away...

Maintained? There are pot holes my bloody truck can fall in and never come out, I'll be afraid to drive the Mini around, I might fall all the way to China.

Can someone explain to me why there is a white, convertible in Lichtenstein? Or I'm just mistake on that car?

...ok screw the picture I can't take a screen shot of it for some reason...but it's the white car in front of the museum.

I think out of the three I would probably take the Gallardo...There's just something about that car which makes me love it to bits, the Porsche is very cool however...it's still a Porsche. I'll take the Gallardo please.

I would have to say I'd take on the Porsche...with a slightly more tasteful paint scheme mind you.

Whats coming up this week...

Topgear.com
This week’s Top Gear sees the glorious return of some old favourites.

In a nautical comeback of Titanic-raising proportions, the amphibious cars from series eight are ready to set sail once more. They’ve been treated to a host of technical improvements to make them a bit more seaworthy, and now they’re ready for a voyage into the unknown.

Also, Audi is very new to the supercar game, so the odds are stacked pretty high against it hitting a bulls-eye the first time out. Jeremy sets out to see if the new R8 can really challenge the Porsche 911 for bragging rights at the squash club.

Yay, amphibious cars are back, looks to be a good episode. Also, Topgear.com are set to be releasing a un-cut version of the news on Topgear from last Sunday so keep an eye out!

Watched it last night "On Demand" and I had a good laugh. I guessed early on that the Stelvio pass would atleast feature in the show after reading so much about it in Evo magazine.

Talking to my driving instructor today though and we both agreed that we'd atleast like guests who have some car history to them.

I can imagine its all of Jeremy's rants about motorway safety people and fifth gear burning down their shed! Should be good to see an uncut version!

Robin

The uncut news (first four parts) have been released. And they're hilarious! :D

...and teasers for this week's show.

Why don’t they put them all into one video? Splitting them up like that (and inserting the Choose your connection speed thing between each one) is really annoying.

Agreed, while it was annoying to watch the news like that it was totally worth it.

Annoying but oh god that had me in stitches, quick BBC! Put it on at 9 and give us the extra 5 minutes!

Because I bet they're not totally uncut. Methinks there are bits in between those clips that weren't shown for whatever reason (or were shown on TV).

Probably bits that were on tv, mostly because we didn't see what was on tv on those clips with a couple of exceptions (but only because it wouldn't make sense without it)

Im going to miss it today. Does anyone know when and where it will be repeated? I checked the TV guide for the whole of next week for BBC2 but the bloody snookers going to be on when the top gear repeat should be...

You might be able to watch it on the website. They don't show it online every week, but they have done some.

Miss what?

It's a repeat tonight.

Seriously, why are they doing the exact same thing they did last year? (Or was it 05?)

No, it's not a repeat, they have the amphibious cars, but it is not the same thing. The whole episode is not about the amphibious cars.

Haha, Sniff Petrol got a mention.

very good episode, including a few things the guys could get in trouble for!

Very good episode :)
hamster's volksboat looked nice. Much better than last time.

Lol, i didn't think they would be allowed to try again after they almost blocked the seacat entering the port :)
