Update sucks

Like most of the users here, I've had several good races at HSR, and been punted like all hell at Fuji.

To be quite honest, I'm not a big fan of Fuji. Suzuka over it any day. And as for HSR, not too fond of it either. But, all in all the update was pretty good in my opinion. The penalty system is much better, you can't quit races now, and several of the cars have improved sounds.

The update blows...... improved physics??????? how maybe after a 12 pack, very arcade like, the race events are terrible, but it is really cool that I can pay a bunch of money to see video that I can see on youtube for free. it just feels like the game has been dumbed down quite a bunch. I am VERY disapointed.

ok, im just gonna say this. I freaking love this update. im just thankful kaz and the crew didnt just give us gttv updates and new online events...like in the past, Atleast they went out of there way to change every cars sound, and make the cars feel more livelier.. the tires might be alittle to grippy but who cares.. you guys, are just making to much of a big deal out of this... i mean it use to be there was to little grip, you complained, they listend. and now its, there's to much grip. still complain...honestly what the hell? just be thankful.. i know i am.

Seems easier.......Sounds nicer, tyres are a little grippy posibley, gave up online with punters and those who can't drive in a straight line (should calm down soon) Not expeirenced any tyre wear so not sure where that one came from? GTTV is ok but HD and SD info little hard to spot, also language and subtitle info not there?

Just re read that sounds a little negative, good update great game.....nuff said LOL

It's still spec II;) autumn update will be spec III

IMO people are only moaning because there's no expert Suzuka, add it to the list of track's and everybody would be happy

autumn update ?!?..When will this take place?..>.>

you know that you can't keep your foot on the accelerator anymore while shifting, yes?

why is this? i know its not a good idea to dfdo it in a very high powered car, but for low powered cars it works, wwhy have they taken out this feature??

also the game definately is easier, this is not looking good. why do they have to mess with pro mode, they should mess around with standard mode and leave pro mode well alone, or make it more pro.

Love this update to the bone and enjoying newly discovered control delicacy of Ford GT, F599 etc. It's no more "Real Scaring Simulator" in Pro Mode, now you really have the right ammount of control over cars.

yup the update is major suckage not the mention the g25 has a lot different feel and it looks like it messed up my g25, each time I switch gear no matter what i always end up in neutral

That's because you don't fully lift your foot from the gas pedal when shifting.

Oh, someone beat me to it.

But yeah, I have to agree with those who say that there is too much grip, it feels like playing an arcade game, tail happy cars are forever gone.

That really bothered me too. "No lift to shift" is a real thing in the real world. This is the "real" driving simulator isn't it? I want it back!!! I mishifted 20 times the first race I tried, it was terrible! The tiniest touch of the throttle and you hit neutral, totally unrealistic and annoying. If they wanted to make it more fair for the controller users then they should have added an automatic neutral gear and the ability to hold the throttle while shifting, just like with the G25. Instead of reducing the realism of the game to level the field.

thats a good point, i really used to get quite annoyed with the lm gt untouched, always used to think is it this easy to slip out in real life, maybe some of the cars need to be easier to drive, because i bet they are in real life

Indeed it is. Especially when driving a car with a turbo engine. You need to provide a small amount of gas during shifts to keep it filled at all times. I don't use a wheel myself, but it really blows that they took this out. If they wanted to level things for the controller users they should have given us controller users a clutch button!

yeah im always forgetting to lift off now for gear changes.....hmmm what about in drift mode when you really need it, wonder if its like this in drift mode.

im with you mate, just imagine if the final gt5 turns out to be slightly better than gt4 physics wise lol, gt5p started great but its getting weaker. it requires a fair bit of skill to drive around online in expert races, this is what i liked about online pro mode races, i knew i was within a similar crowd. now i'll prolly end up with alot of ppl who played intermediate on pro now because its easier, therefore losing the ppl i respect who had the patience to hack it in pro mode and race clean and were really into driving and the game. you can relax more with this update in a race, you dont have too worry about skidding out too much,

hmm havent used the updated version much, just installed a while ago, i wonder if this update does make the cars more realistic, were they too unrealistic before the update? we need a proper race driver who drives at high speed to tell us, i need more time with the update i guess.

is it just me or has the update stopped you from doing ten 360 degrees spins in the gravel pits when entering them at like 20mph

Well even if you do keep on some throttle on during the shift with a turbo car in real life, when you lose the load (clutch in) the boost will still be lost anyway weather you have any throttle applied or not.

Like others said dropping powershifting (I call them flatshifts) is a huge disapointment IMO.

I myself have yet to download the update.

What I am seeing however is a lot of little kiddies pissing and moaning about something they get for (almost) nothing.

Goes to show that some people are never happy unless the are having a whinge.

Its there, deal with it, or dont play.

Quite simple really.

hmm when I was on yesterday there was hardly any bumping and was some of the cleanest racing id seen since I got the game!

Previously I would normally get punted off first corner then as soon as I start to catch up would get rammed off the track.... think I only went off at T1 once out of about 15 races which I over cooked it and was forced off the track once by someone who didnt like me over taking them on the straight on the last lap... but thats a MAJOR improvement in my experience compared to before

Yeah i have to agree with you, there's no need to change how the wheels behave, because they already improved the handling for the pad.
Its never a good idea to take away options imo it would be better just improve the physics. Also graying out RA options ain't nice, thats including in the game and some cars really need sme tweaking!
If you don't want it don't use it, but taking it away sucks! :dunce:

the update does not suck, it rocks, I can't believe that y'all don't appreciate polyphony digital's hard word, they try to give you what y'all want and you still complain!!! Gran Turismo is DEVOLOPING!!! doesn't that mean anything to y'all!!! It's not Gran Turismo's problem, the problem is your IMPATIENCE!!!

i do fully lift my foot maybe my gas pedal is faulty

i agree!!! i dont see the meanig of this update... they stop the gt5 development for this??? are we mens or kids??..

i'm very disappointed!

Geez, you guys...

This is the "August 1st" update, NOT the fall update. This sentence has been posted 2.000 times by many members, and still there's a load of people complaining that they were "promised private rooms, and damage, and new cars, and new tracks, and cheaper fuel..." for this update.

Whatever come, it comes. If it doesn't, we can't do anything about it.
Some people like it, some people don't. There's a lot of things I don't like (and some I really appreciate they took the time to get right or better) on this update, but you don't see me bitching about it on every post I make.

Oh, and "Update sucks"... not the happiest thread title right there.

thank you!!!, finally someone who understands

Im glad they have removed powershifting as it minimizes the advantage that the G25 users get.

People who have it have paid extra money for it, there's no point in having it in the first place and then removing the option to do so.

Plus, power shifting is a REAL thing, it's used in real racing. Why shouldn't it be there?

what are you on about whinging??? ok so lets say the next update they do makes the cars grip like their on rails at any speed yeah, no over/understeer, not even a millimetre. whats your answer??? deal with it or dont play it, you see how silly i would sound if this update actually happened and i told people to deal with it or dont play it. or say they are whinging.

heres the deal, you dont see this removal of power shifting as a issue, everyone isnt like you, you arwe not into the game enough to let it bother you, other people are, power shifting helps people get faster lap times, power shifting is real not fake.

just how you would see the example update as not acceptable i and others go further and see the removal of power shifting as unacceptable, this is not whinging, we use it we would like it back, probably does not bother you because you dont use it.

Oh i take back what i said, i didn't know you could do that in real life.

I did a few races on fuji 750 PRO and daytona oval 600 PRO, and so far I don't like this update at all. It feels like I'm racing in STD physics. I like running the blitz always have but now I can just mat it coming out of the corners and it wont break loose, and its a DRIFT car.....................................

I was hopping for a improvement in rear grip especially with RWD cars. It seamed to me that the problem was insufficient weight transfer to the rear in all cars. The AWD boys should be understeering when exiting the corners under accel but they didn't and the RWD guys got massive tire spin. I could be wrong on what the real problem was maybe it wasn't weight transfer, but PD didn't seam to know what the problem was either as they just tossed a massive amount of grip at all the cars and where done with it.

The improvements to sound I like alot I can now finally hear a car coming up on me. The cars also seam to change tone now a little based on load all good things. However if this is the direction there gonna take the physics I don't want any part of it. I'll keep going until the fall/09 fall (lol) update and see what PD dose or has to say about what/why they did what they did but if it stays like this after the update I'm out.

P.S. I would also like to add that I admittedly havent ran verymany races post update so these are all my inital reactions to what they have done. More testing and race experiance is needed before I make a final descion on how exsactly I feel about it. So, so far sounds + physics -
