Update sucks

what are you on about whinging??? ok so lets say the next update they do makes the cars grip like their on rails at any speed yeah, no over/understeer, not even a millimetre. whats your answer??? deal with it or dont play it, you see how silly i would sound if this update actually happened and i told people to deal with it or dont play it. or say they are whinging.

heres the deal, you dont see this removal of power shifting as a issue, everyone isnt like you, you arwe not into the game enough to let it bother you, other people are, power shifting helps people get faster lap times, power shifting is real not fake.

just how you would see the example update as not acceptable i and others go further and see the removal of power shifting as unacceptable, this is not whinging, we use it we would like it back, probably does not bother you because you dont use it.

Did I say anything about flat shifting or the handling at all? I dont believe so. I was making a general comment. Period. For the record, I own a G25 so it will affect me. I just wont whine like a little bitch about it.

I'm in the game enough to realise that some people shouldnt be there due to their own ineptness.

Now go away and crawl back under your rock untill you have something sensible to say

I actually think they've "fixed" the tire physics as they were IMO lacking grip before the update..Now when accelerating out of a corner the grip levels I get and the point where I lose the back end seem more correct than before...

I also find it funny how many people are whining about the grip levels being too high..simply because when I race online all I see are 4wheel drive sedans with TC turned on...grip isnt an issue when you race one of these...I always raced the F40 and I must say the grip levels now feel right..

lol you still dont understand that its not whining, so what if you said nothing about handling or power shifting, what does that prove? so tell me what were you talking about then? the fact is u are saying people are whining because they dont like bits of the update, bits being HaNdLiNg and PowER sHIFTING, because thats all i see in the thread. then you go say oh i said nothing about handling or power shifting, lol what a noob, quit while you are a lap behind mate.

i dont like the removal of power shifting so im whining right? go back and read my example, you may understand the second time around.

you have a g25 so it will effect you but you dont whine about it......no no no

you own a g25 but aren't into the game enough to see the advantages of power shifting to be bothered about wether its there or not. this is the truth, if its going to make you slower whats wrong with showing dislike for it?
you didnt say anything because you probably dont rely on it.

you need to get it into your head that this is not whining, and you said it as wwhining because you probably wanted to be the first guy in the thread to pull the whining kiddy card out and hope that others follow. disliking something real being taken out of the game and expressing that is not whining

It's still spec II;) autumn update will be spec III

IMO people are only moaning because there's no expert Suzuka, add it to the list of track's and everybody would be happy
Your all ashamed cause you have to finish a race now :scared: LOL and he who can't be named made me laugh driving a Gt LM around Fuji that had flat tyres :nervous: 👍

If you don't laugh you will cry

 to Beerz for bringing some sense into this thread.

Like he said, this updated is about GT-TV and making money, the fall update is about the cars.

For everyone saying about private rooms, unless ive missed something, private rooms have NEVER been promised by PD. I believe it is a forum wish / rumor so we are able to race with eachother easier. This also goes for cars and tracks....

I myself arent happy about the update and I think PD have messed up. Wait until fall before making your mind up. If you dont like it dont race online. Stick to time-trails if your not happy...

SCEA Producer has mentioned that they are working on it when questioned a while ago in the official playstation blog. Never actually promised but something atleast similar is likely.

It seems to me that the 'Rabbit Effect' has gotten worse in AI races; there is always one AI that is miles better than all of the others. I was in a Ford GT, and most of the field was also in GT's, Vipers, 599s, etc. However, there was a GTLM in that race that ran laps 10 seconds faster than anyone else.

This wasn't the only time that this has happened, either. It seems every arcade race has one car that blows away everything else, and it's very irritating. I thought it was bad before the update, but in my opinion, now it's much worse.

As far as improved penalty physics are concerned, I've yet to see any real difference. I was on Suzuka last night and a guy was constantly cutting accross the grass at the esses after turn one and didn't get a penalty for it.
Also been punted off loads of times and the car that punted me just carried on going, penalty free. you still get a shortcut penalty for slighty over running a rumble strip. I wouldn't mind if it was a blatant over-run, but to get a penalty for clipping a few blades of grass is just ridiculous.
Very disappointed with the update.

I must have deleted five paragraphs of writing to come up with this.........

crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap crap

Ferrari challenge has been in the sideboard cause that was crap but jeeze what have they done to GT5p :grumpy:

I haven't updated GT5p yet, so I can't test it. What do you all mean, there is no powershifting anymore?

Do you always have to lift of the throttle when shifting?
What about when you choose sequantional shifting with the stick/paddles? Do still have to lift the throttle before shifting?

The GT-r Hs in real life a gearbox with double clutch. It doesn't have a clutch pedal. IRL you can shift without lifting the throttle. Does it mean that with the GT-R you also have to lift the throttle before lifting? Is that what you all are talking about?

Like I said, I haven't updated GT5p yet, so I can't try it out myself.

I feel the same. I just had a "race" on Fuji 750, and an US guy was constantly punting me out to try to overtake me. I saw no penalty for him I he pushed me at least 6 times in just three laps.

But I do feel sorry for him, he ended up being epically owned.

The punters do usually end up getting fried. it's why they try to run people off the track, because they suck when trying to drive fairly.

EDIT: I tried Fuji 750 a couple of times, but i've heard that it's just one big crash fest.

Yeah, it is a demolition derby at best, I went online just to see with my own eyes what I've been told.

Nothing new, thought. I also hate R tires, so I won't go there anymore for sure.

I love Suzuka but it's only intermediate at the moment. I know it's set to just standard physics, but S1 and S2 tyres run well there.

I can understand the dissapointment at the loss of powershifting...but i can also understand why they removed it. Because, as im sure all you know, when you powershift in a real car, its very hard on the transmission, your risking breaking/damaging your transmission/clutch at the cost of gaining more full throttle time. Its a trade off. Because theres no damage in GT5P (yet..fingers crossed) there is no reason NOT to powershift, you only gain the benifits of it, no disadvantage. So from a gameplay point to make things even across the field, its been removed..i suppose until damage/component failures are introduced into the GT series. So sure, its less realistic not having it in the game, but it wasnt realistic having it in the game in the first place without the drawbacks.

Personally i'm a fan of the update. I did like GT5P previously, especailly with the F40 as that was super rewarding to race around Suzuka, but it was a little over the top and just was not competative at all. With the new changes, it is alot stronger and behaves alot more like a super car of its kind, and even though its not the fastest out there, and who would expect it so being 20odd years old, it actually competes like a supercar should. Based on S2 tires (i usually test @ 600pp S2 restriction). Although the manual says it should be drivin on N2-N3 for the most realistic experiance

I found it to be the opposite. The update is the best thing to happen to GT5P so far. Sure, the online isn't perfect, but it's better than it was and the overall gameplay is much improved.

The only thing that has improved physics wise are the tyres. It's why the more difficult to handle cars like the F40 are easier to handle now.

agreed, polyphony digital will have all that junk soon but by the mean time just be patient, and don't go saying that they had let us down because hadn't, y'all just need to face the fact that you will be waiting a long time for all this junk to come, y'all are putting the pressure on polyphony digital

Yeah, you got a point about powershifting and I'm kinda with you, since I was not a flatshifter, but also not a full lifter shifter (follow me? LOL), but what about those who downshift from 4th to 1st or downshift to do less work during braking, or those overabusing of the engine braking, or those who brake without using heel and toe tecnique, or those who downshift in the middle of the corner without the car's losing traction.

It gets on my nerves to see downshifting like that without unbalancing the car, and even sometimes going faster than those who downshift properly (ie, heel and toe, proper timing, etc).

Since there is no mechanical damage you can downshift like there's no tomorrow, even when using the paddles/sixaxis.

Watch the current top three (mclarensucks -his downshifting technique really annoys me LOL-, DrKrFfXx_ and GTP_MeAgainstYou) in arcade > time trial mode at Fuji F in Pro with the NSX-R to see the three different downshifting methods I've mentioned.

I've been trying to give it a chance but, I hate driving the cars now it feels like STD physics to me. I cant feel what the cars doing any more. I mean i could be wrong but it just feels way way to fast now on R type tires. The sound is def beter but i just dont understand what they were trying to do with adding soooo much grip.

What they did is make the racing tires more like, well, racing tires. R1 tires had far too little grip and felt like sport tires.

PD gave us a free update that made a lot of the game's aspects better. Except for the problem I mentioned earlier in the thread, I'm very happy with it. I guess it's just a matter of personal opinion.

From what I have been reading this update sounds pretty freaking awesome to me. But, then again some people will never be satisfied, no matter what happens. :( It's a shame so many people look at nothing but the negative.

I've driven the 512, Art Morrison vette, F40, Z06 around eiger and they feel less exciting to me. They have a soft 'one size fits all feel'. I've put all the settings back but still no good. I used to have the feedback on 4-5 then other times put on 8 and still get good feel on either setting. The cars felt more lively and distinct and on edge before on S2, now they feel less so even though the times have shortened. Dropping down to S1 doesn't help, neither does N3 it just slows the pace right down.

In real life I've driven AC Cobra, morgans, caterham 7, and the Art Morrison reminded me of those, but now it feels tame and soft, I miss the snappy feel and nailing it.

I really like the sound improvements and more suspension movement but it seems more generic and the feedback feels muffled somehow. I hope to get used to it.

Not saying before was perfect, it did need tweaking but I'd like the N3 tyres that we have now to something similar to the old S1 S2. I'm not sure but are S2 suppose to represent cut slicks in GT5, so I'm willing to understand more grip. I've mainly driven on the best Road Tyres in 300-500 bhp cars but N3 or S1 don't seem right.

I don't think it sucks at all. What does does suck is that so many events are hell bent on you using S3, R1 on up tires which grip to all hell and "numb" the new physics tweaks made.

i just want a update with new cars....sorry that the 71 have gotten boring. I just want a little depth. Honestly a new track would do.

I think the problem is there isn't enough variety on the online races. You usually see the same cars running in the same races. Not enough to USE all of the cars they provide.

The real reason that they upped the tyre physics was to give the noobs a chance. PD are neglecting the hardcore fans.

I won't lie, my driving skills were lacking in ALOT of areas before the update. Now I can drive with no aids on at all. I think they DID make it too easy. I was looking forward to buying a wheel, shifter and pedals, hell now whats the point I can win with a controller!
