I'm going to try my best. I didn't have much spare time during the TT... Nor do I need to lose weight or get in shape. I would bet R1600Turbo get's in it. He's quick with the DS3.

BTW, OP can you put a list of everyone's region on here?

I'm Southeast.

Very true but if he get's to the prelim he'll have a hard time because they don't use the DS3.

I'm going to give it my best.

Why would they make the rules for MSA and ASN instead of NASA or SCCA...?

Since top 16 from this Academy are going to the U.K. Sony and PD must've just asked the Silverstone event organisers to give them a set of rules regarding who they think is fit to enter.

Sounds logical enough. Hopefully HPDE either doesn't count or slips under their radar... not that my chances of making it to the top are all that good anyway :p

That' brings me to a question. How many in this thread have actual Road Racing experience? Or been driving on a Race track before?

<-----Raises hand (quite a few HPDE days and ran Redline Time Attack in 2009).

+1 HPDE level 3 (hoping for time/money to make level 4 next spring)

That so retarded that they never include Canada in any of the competitions or Giveaways they have in the US! or have any exclusively for Canada! its like we don't exist to PD :P

I've drove karts from 6 to 8 years of age. Done some off road while I lived in Tuscon Arizona, hung out at Desert Ratt Off Road during the summers. Didn't race again until I moved here to Virgina. Found out about Summit Point Race Way in West Virgina started karting again then I buildup a 1991 Nissan 280Z ( S14 ) Hatch Back. Raced that for about 4 years then my wife and I had our beautiful daughter so I sold the car. I really miss that car.. Our daughter is five now going to be six in a few months. So it's been awhile since I've seen the track behind a wheel. Just been on the side line and hanging in the pits.

Sorry S13.

I just hope the new physics online will not cater to the unrealistic driving I came across when playing GT5P online.

Yeah. I suggest you read the rules - http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/academy/rules - and fully understand them if you're worried about how the competition will be handled so that if one of the officials during a regional or national final uses judgement that doesn't conform with it then you can appeal against the decision.

I think you can still compete as long as you haven't had a national b license (or equivalent) in real life.

EDIT - From the official rules:

"...must not have previously held a National A or superior MSA license or equivalent in another FIA recognized ASN and not have competed in a national level Karting Championship for more than two full seasons."

The SPEED world challenge had a FIA equivalent requirement for the race through the SCCA. I did run there in 2008 at Road America in a Viper Competition Coupe.. it was only a one off, but I think they would notice that... also I had Star Mazda sponsorship liscencing, but I moved over to touring cars, before that had a chance to build.. I don't race anymore, but I don't think it has been enough years yet... we will get more info once the flurry of releasing the game gets done with... 👍

I've never raced anything. I've never driven a fast kart, unless Jolly Rodgers at Ocean City Maryland counts :sly:

It's not the rules I'm mentioning, it's the actual physics and game play. But I will definitely check over the rules thoroughly.

The only true to life experience I have is karting for the past 2 years and taking my Subaru Outback on dirty and snowy roads it should not be on and certainly should not go "fast" on. Someone I still have the car.

I'm going to give it my best.

I switched to a DFGT with a couple weeks left on the TT demo and almost matched my times with the controller. 👍 Most of my online racing in Prologue recently was with a wheel. Unfortunately I was unemployed for a couple months so I had to sell my DFGT, but I plan on picking another one up in a couple weeks or so. :)

Edit: and while we're talking about it, the only competition experience I have is local track days / autocross that were not sanctioned by the SCCA or NASA. Although I did set FTD at an autocross with all season tires on my Miata. :D

I still can't believe they put Nebraska in the west. LOL. I think that is going to be a stacked region.

As for experience, I am an instructor for our two local area tracks, and am a national level auto-xer. (Got 2nd this year in my class.) Do not have any NASA or SCCA licenses, although I had thought about getting the SCCA licenses this year, just to have it.

I was wondering if having a SCCA National Competition license would make me ineligible for the GTAcademy competition...hope not, it's not like I have any pro racing experience...

"Contestants must not have previously held a National A or superior MSA license or equivalent in another Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) recognized ASN and not have competed in a national level Karting Championship for more than two full seasons."

Anyone want to do a practice round? I did some laps round nurburgring gp circuit in a stock 370z on sport hard tires...

Can't wait for this. Hopefully they allow Alaska in.
Maybe my iRacing experience will pay off

I've got a bone stock 370Z (except for wheels) that I've been doing laps around Laguna Seca with.
