It would have been nice to see Percat maintain 3rd or 4th though instead of crashing out towards the end.

Really would have been, he had driven a hell of a race up to that point. 👍

The drivers don't seem to be too thrilled with the new restart procedure:http://www.v8supercars.com.au/news/championship/drivers-quoteboard-race-three-clipsal-500-adelaide

Rick Kelly, Jack Daniel’s Racing: "It's absolutely been a lottery with every restart we have done under this new format. I'm disappointed by that.
David Reynolds, The Bottle-O Racing Team: "The restarts were interesting. I gave my opinion when the idea came up and I much prefer the old system as there was less confusion and today was just stupid.”
Mark Winterbottom, Ford Pepsi Max Crew: that safety car restart wasn’t right. The officials need to have a look at it as while it is great to have ideas, when driver safety is being compromised it is not right. Hopefully they address the issue.
Jason Bright, Team BOC:
“The restart procedure definitely needs looking at. The low speed makes it easy to wheelspin and the leader isn't controlling the race. If they want action, they've got it but if they want safety, that's another story. Even if they increased the speed to 80 kays, that would make a difference."

As much as I hate the procedure, it was pretty cool seeing all the cars burst out 4 wide as soon as they hit the AZ zone

Driver's and teams invest far too much time, money and effort to have races ruined by such a retarded restart procedure, I think they should ditch it. They call it a safety car, not a bunch the field and cause life threatening mayhem car.

Looks like the marketing has started.

In that case, they should start every race with the cars driving away from the start line one at a time. Just to be safe. After all, they were going two- and three-wide into the first corner in each race.

As was pointed out in the broadcast, the carnage started when one of the Triple Eight drivers braked early. That bunched Bright and the HRTs up, leaving three cars with nowhere to go. It could have happened on any race start.

There is no easy fix to the restarts...before the field got spread out which benefited the leader, now we have guys all on each other with no room for error. I think what happened was a freak deal that might not happen again period, I'm actually surprised that his car ended up looking so bad as the crash didn't look all that terrible to me.

Okay, fellow V8SC fans, let me introduce myself to you before I get to my actual post. I'm a new fan of the series, and live in the US. I support all manufacturers, including the newest addition in Volvo. I'm primarily a NASCAR fan, but love the action that V8 Supercars always seems to provide. I want to make this season my first season. Its nice to meet all of you here. Side note: buying the Ford Falcon XR8 in GT5 is one thing that got me interested.

Now for what I came here for: Is there any idea that anyone out there has about television coverage of any of the V8SC races this year in America, especially the Bathurst 1000? If not, then any ideas about a free live streaming service for the series?

Thanks in advance. :)

Read the last few pages. Been over it a million times already. ;)

You can find a streaming service for free if you look hard enough but for about $35 bucks US they offer a streaming service through their site. It's a decent stream either way, but the good thing about the V8SC stream is it plays across any device almost.

Go to TeamBOC TV YouTube channel to watch the build of Jason Bright's car before the AGP. check their FB page as well.

Thanks for the help guys! I look forward to seeing some great racing action this year now that I know where to find it.

Good news: V8 Supercars are looking to expand their roster to include more races at permanent venues, and they are willing to support projects to help them come to fruition, as Australia has not had a new permanent circuit open since QR in 1999. They have their eye on Tailem Bend in particular, which looks pretty neat.

Good news. V8 Supercars is becoming one of my favorite tin-top championships with the new manufacturers.

I like the idea of another permanent venue in South Australia, but I wish it could be a little closer to Adelaide itself. Tailem Bend is a bit of a drive, but I suppose it's not anywhere near as bad as the drive from Melbourne to Winton or Sydney to Wakefield Park. It would be great to camp out there, alongside the River Murray, for a race weekend.

Wildcard entry push from V8 Supercars.
V8 Supercars has acknowledged it is being "very active" in it's bid to encourage wildcard entries to bolster the reduced 2014 grid.

Three licenses were handed back to the series following the 2013 season, from Tony D'Alberto Racing, Dean Fiore's Triple F Racing and Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport, leaving the 2014 grid at 25 cars.
Though V8 Supercars has yet to officially confirm what it will do with the unused licenses, which are likely to go onto the market, it is working with teams and manufacturers to encourage wildcard entries, particularly at the endurance events.
Triple Eight ran the Xbox One wildcard entry at Bathurst last season, while the Shannons Insurance entry competed in the Great Race from 2010 to 2012.

Nissan Motorsport has already indicated it is interested in fielding a wildcard entry at Bathurst, with internationals from its Nismo Global Driver Exchange program the likely candidates to drive the entry.

Well, they have said that it won't happen until 2024. Which is odd, considering that it was an old Mitsubishi test track.

I had a look at the site on Google Earth. There's a long strip which can be used for drag races but it would obviously need a bit of refurbishing, along with the facilities needed. When construction begins, I'd imagine drag racing would be possible relatively soon afterwards.

As for circuit racing, there's no real circuit to speak off. There's a few corners and a skid pan attached to the strip and a lot of dirt roads but that's it. It makes Adelaide International Raceway look like a FIA Grade 1 circuit!

Be that as it may, it shouldn't take ten years to build everything up.

Haha, absolutely. I forgot about that part! I'd assume they would at first build the strip and leave the circuit until a bit later, unless they get some money/persuasion to fast track the circuit completion.

That's what V8 Supercars wants to do - invest in these projects to help get them off the ground.

And remember folks, if you're in Oz and unable to attend the AGP, V8s will be shown on Network Ten/ONE HD on Saturday and Sunday. Check your tv guide. They'll also broadcast the Mazda Celebrity Challenge in new Mazda 3's. Last year were the Mazda 6's.

Tailem Bend still held drift days up until recently though I'm not sure why they stopped, maybe to begin a refurb?

There's a Gymkhana coming up in a couple weekends at Tailem Bend and my understanding is that drift days will also be returning shortly.

Apparently the new owners are really trying to get on the good side of local enthusiasts by keeping it useable for as long as they possibly can. Talk around the last Gymkhana was of a 12-18 month complete stop of on track activities while they lay the new track and build the fuel station. Once both are operational, they'll continue building the other attractions. None of that has been achieved yet, and it's just what I heard from other competitors- but it seems plausible. I'm just hoping that the backing of V8 Supercars and the state government can speed things up a little.

An hour and a half more for you is an hour and a half less for me. :)
On the bigger scale, It's a shame nothing could be done closer to the city. I can't see many casual fans going to so much trouble when Clipsal will still exist.

I quite like the ads Mazda are running for their role in the Celebrity Challenge because they seem to think the Celebrity Challenge is the only reason why anyone watches the Grand Prix.

Caruso's one-off Beyond Blue livery was just unveiled on "Wake Up". By Jeff Kennett in racing overalls. Which is a sight we should reserve for our worst enemies.
