That curvy backstretch was the best part of the circuit. Blasted chicanes!

When people run out of ideas for race tracks, MOAR CHICANES!!!!

Three weeks down, another two to go until Darwin.

Well hopefully some of these international races will fill these horrible gaps in the schedule.

Easy guys, the fellas behind the scenes need a break and family time,

And we have Le Mans this week!

For five weeks though?

Well the last round was Perth, by the time pack up and transport back to the eastern side of the country it would take 3 days minimum to get the cars back to Melbourne, maybe 5 to get them back to QLD, then unpack and dismantle process would take another 2-3 days depending on the size of the team, the cars and transporters will need to be ready to depart for their trips to Darwin from Melbourne this Saturday, to get the cars there for Tuesday morning, so realistically they are only getting roughly 10 days off...

Tell that to the NASCAR teams that make cross country races on a weekly basis. :p Just ignore the fact that NASCAR teams have more money and might have multiple cars & haulers.

I think they could have made the turnaround in 3 weeks no problem, but what do I know.

Well yeah, NASCAR from what we have been exposed to in documentary's on local TV basically show chassis factories pumping out new cars for every episode, whereas the big teams may have one spare chassis and that's because they have built one new car, if the personnel continually worked through then yeah they could have done it in 3 weeks,

And upon research the last round was Winton, 2 weeks after Perth, logistically easier on the teams given Winton I in Northern Victoria,

I wonder if the teams would save any traveling money by purchasing or leasing a small garage on the other side of the country to work on the cars for quick turnaround to races over there so they don't have to travel back and forth.

Hmmm probably not, they would have to ship any extra spares up there, and shipping a 30cm X 30cm X 30cm box weighing 20kg is expensive here, be cheaper to send the whole team back to Hq almost,

This why I mentioned races as the same venue. In 2004 they raced at Eastern Creek(SMP) twice. If, after Winton, the next race was Phillip Island or Eastern Creek(depending what's on because, heritage touring cars were at SMP this past weekend) there'd be a good turnaround.

Awesome Tim Edwards driving the Mazda truck heading for Le Mans, back in the day.

That reporter guy, has nothing whatsoever to report. Useless...

Hmm... apparently there could be a date change and a shortened teack for next years or the years after Sydney 500...

And James Warburton is in talks with up to 5 manufacturers with at least one seriously considering entering the series.

Sydney ran its course 2 seasons ago. Finishing at PI, the Creek or Bathurst would be better in my eyes.

My 2016 Calendar

Adelaide
AGP
Taz
Perth
Winton
Darwin
Townsville
(Break)
KL
SMP
PI(or end season)
Auckland
(2nd Asian circuit 2017)
Gold Coast
Sandown
Bathurst
Phillip Island

The Island is a great bike circuit. And while it occasionally produces some good V8 racing, for the most part it's pretty dull. I think the enduro race there proved as much.

Starting sooner in the year and/or moving Bathurst back in the year and making it the final race of the year - and running it as a non-championship race - would be better.

The last event of the season needs to be big. Homebush doesn't work. Shorten the circuit to what? I just don't get what the powers at be are doing. It's a bad layout in the first.

Homebush has been marked for a development boom. It's close to the city and right on the waterfront, but it's never really grown beyond its origins as a stadium precinct. The state government wants to change that, building a light rail network from Strathfield through to Parramatta, with the proposed route running through Homebush. Kind of like the one that was put in place through Surfers' Paradise. But doing so will potentially limit where the circuit can go, especially if they want to run it right up to Stadium Australia.

Bathurst as non championship race?

You insane??

Imo we should bring back the Eastern creek night race, have it as a Day/Night Enduro as the final round.

Not at all. Barhurst has the prestige to stand alone as its own event. So resolve the championship beforehand and just enjoy racing with no strings attached.

I don't like it, for instance LeMans 24hour contributes to the WEC championship just like the Indy 500 contributes to Indycar championship and both those events are bigger then the series they are in.

You don't want idiots driving like idiots because they can drive like idiots.

I'd still like the series ended with BAthurst. It is a bit tough having a co-driver crash out last race of the season. It could go either way as non-championship or for points. If it ran as a 300km race(and still have the 1000km as is) or at the new circuit they are constructing, that may do well as a season finisher.

Speaking of Bathurst, I've been informed the campgrounds people have screwed our paperwork for the 3rd year in a row, as a result instead of having our usual plots in the first 100 we have to start again from the rats nest, so the blokes I usually go with aren't happy as they have been going for years to get that privilege of being in the top 100, as a result of that, we aren't going, a bit gutted to be honest,

Can't say how much I want Nissan to succeed. How's his schedule August 7-9? :D
