Hello i´m from sweden and i work for volvo..

About that 240GLT Would be a turbo is wrong. Grand Lux Touring Is what GLT Means.. But how ever my friend has a GLT With An Turbo Engine And 3" Exaust, Open Air and a bit more things, It´s going to be a fun car i guess, But the other project he is working with will be even nicer! 16V, Every thing in the engine is tuned, DTA Fast Computer, Garret GT40 turbo (Large) We hope to reach around 500-600hp in the engine, the engine will live in a volvo 740.

Sorry for my bad english!

:)

PS! Any other thoughts about volvo cars you can ask me.

Heh I've often thought how cool a 740 would be with the exhaust madly popping like a drag car  & shaking with the power...

....Anyway.... so the GLT is by sound of it them merely a trim level & doesn't automatically mean it has a turbo. Hmm well great in one way, I've always thought the GLT models look best! But didn't want the hassle of LRP/unleaded conversion that came with an older turbo. Was previously looking @ the 16V 740/940s, which seem pretty good if a little rare. I've seen some sites with the 16V turbo conversion, sounds pretty good!

is there a 2dr Volvo 240?
I saw one today in gold with dark gold trim ...
very classic looking and maintained quite well
not sure it is a 240 or other volvo model

I saw an immaculate one of these when I visited southern England (namely Paignton/Torquay) last year in metallic light blue.

I remember seeing that one with the title "bertone coupe" next to it.

Was it a special edition or something? It's very classy looking.

Ah. So what would it best run on?

if you're running a turbo car, it's best to go with higher octane fuel, common sense. more oxygen, bigger explosions (the good kind), less fretting about the knock sensor.

Supreme, premium, or whatever they call it where you live.

Unleaded is also safer than the alternative.

240Z
Ok, so premium (or whatever, the expensive unleaded) would prevent fuel-related damage?

...yeah.

but I wouldn't go crazy and buy race gas or the most expensive stuff at the pump.

Old volvo turbos should run fine on regular unleaded, they're not fire-breathing monsters that chew through engine blocks on a regular basis. If you start uggrading your turbo system, you should invest in the fuel management department, and higher quality gas will get you better performance as well.

I'm no expert on the subject, and there are people here that know a lot more than me, so you'll get a more consise reply sooner or later.

Yes ... the colour is very similar too ....
but the one I saw today had different headlight
it got 2 headlights each side instead of a big fat one

very rare car in Canada i think

One thing I don't understand, why Volvo put their logo at the right top in some models, while most of the model has their logo placed in the middle?

I actually know a guy (who lives in the same city as me) who droped a ford 5L v8 in a late 80s 740 sedan, it ran high 11s with drag tires on...very cool 👍

me, I am a very big vovlo fan, my first car was a 91 740 wagon, then sold it and got a 95 850 turbo, and currently it is for sale because I just bought a 99 S80 T6...and I absolutly love it! 👍 👍

Well, yeah, but what are the consequences?

As well as what kinigitt has already said I always remember a report into LRP (Lead Replacement Petrol which replaced 4 star in the UK as well as other countries) where they tested an Audi Quattro Turbo for 2 years or so & using the LRP did as much damage in those 2 years as 10 years+ with normal use with standard 4 star. I think the LRP corrodes the various parts of the engine aswell as ruining the Turbo since the engine just wasn't designed for it.

Hence thats why I wouldn't like to run one on LRP! Although I've heard of a simple conversion which costs about £250 but it seems a bit too good to be true, apart from the price ;)

And yes kinigitt, Bertone designed it I believe.

Yeah alot of Volvo models in the US & I'd presume Canada too, had different front lights, often have the 'dual' light arrangement opposed to the normal Euro single light. Particually on the 740. When looking for that pic I also found a pic of a 262C with the newer style 240 front lights (Still single though).

As for the grill, no idea, althought personally I think it looks better in the centre :)

Still hoping for a SAAB to show up in GT4 ._.

hmmm... maybe theyre holding back on info of their inclusion to surprise everyone and alleviate all troubles caused by the lack of ferrari and porsche. :dopey:

haha. If they are gonna have a pile of crap like that 240, my hopes are pretty good for the 90-93 Integra.
Work harder on your flamebait next time.
