How I do it in 90s LeMans is give ballast to the top 3 until they fail to podium. It's harder here thanks to the reverse grids though.

I believe we could just apply it to the top 3 for a race weekend. If we go for each race, another one of those mass dc's could mean we forget. It also means that more controversy isn't applied to the results at Madrid. Maybe change to each race next season.

I would also prefer a limited time qualifying session: say 15 minutes, then everyone pits. Then in the next 5 minutes, if you want to change tyres, go round once and only once, whilst also sorting out the grid in this period.

I say if we add anything else it will make it the race more time consuming and confusing.

Okay. The Top Five in points will divide their points by two and add the accompanying ballast to their cars. After this weekend, the next Top Five will do it.

Example:
90 points from Madrid=45 kg.
90 points from Deep Forest Raceway =45 kg.

Will it go away if you finish outside of the top 5? Will this include Seth who would have been 3rd in points before his penalty? Why so sudden? I think this should be a vote.

We've been discussing it all week. :scared: Also, it applies only to those in the Top Five in points, as the points appear after a round.

I took the week to make my decision, but it's almost Race Day. I need to ensure that it's run this week, to slow the quick guys (1:17s] down a bit.

I might be that fast for 1 lap, but I can't come anywhere close to sustaining that pace. I have the tire wear for lap 5/6 on softs as it is.

Exactly. So, anyone who can run 1:17s for like two laps should have a little ballast. Most of those guys are the guys who are higher up in the championship... Like, Johnny, who gets 54 kg. added.

Yes.

Your maths say 52.5 kg, which brings me to the one thing I forgot to mention: Round UP, and not down! :) Now that that is clarified:

Johnny: 54 kg
cnd:53 kg
T-n-T-2000: 48 kg
Damu:47 kg
Agent:46 kg

Yes.

What about Seth?

I'm outside the top 5 it seems. After this round though that will probably change.

Well, you would have been in the Top Five, except the 30 points. You went from 101 points to 71 points.

🤬 If you're going to punish someone, punish them properly. Especially when I heard a mention of a good behavioural penalty deduction. Seth keeps clean for a couple of races, that deduction could have him ahead of agent after Madrid AND gives Seth extra races without a ballast. If you had Seth at 101 points but given a reprimand for a certain period this could work. That way, he still has the success ballast, and it's up to Seth to keep it clean to keep his points.

I say we forget about success ballast. That was one of the major pros of the series when I considered joining it. I will give the current system a shot. If I find in unacceptable, I might just steward.

I'm with cnd... The cars are so even, 10 kg will make a world of difference. I say that those who aren't up there should ask someone for a tune. People are REALLY nice here, i'm sure someone would help you out! Johnny gave me a tune for the civic after I asked because I couldn't really break the 1:19 barrier... now I get low 1:19's all the time! So I say no to ballast penalties and if someone is struggling to just help them out!

That's right. If you are struggling let me know so that we can tune together. I will be more than happy to help. I have probably spent 12-24 hours working on setup just for Deep Forest. I don't mind helping someone else out. I know some people cannot tune as much as I can due to employment or other reasons. That is why I hate being penalized because I spend more time setting up my car than someone else. I work harder, so I am naturally better. Some people don't have the time to put into this series like I do. I understand that. I will help those people catch up. The success ballast system is like communism. We Mericans don't like Communism lol.

:) 💡 :sly: :dopey: :scared:

The success ballast system is like communism.

Please explain how it's similar to communism? Is the success ballast the eternal brotherhood of man? Is it an idea, for which many Soviet dictators would be willing to kill?

I'm not sure how it's like communism either... But I still don't like it. It will take time... Plenty of time.... And Rolex starts snugly right after this...

It is the idea that the harder working and faster drivers get penalized for being better than the drivers who don't put in the effort or just aren't as fast.

The better word is probably socialism. As you know July 4th was Wednesday. A little too much American pride there. Sorry for ranting :banghead: :crazy::guilty::dopey:

Actually some would argue that's what happening in America... Higher taxes for the wealthier people, and the government helping poor people out, who generally don't work as hard....

But back on topic... I'm hoping I'll be at the race tomorrow... Dad has a project lined up (I'm hoping his back hurts too much from golfing tonight) but I may miss qualifying, I'll keep ya posted.

And when is division 2's race? If I could, I'd love to watch!

I will be there. I have work in the morning, but after that I will be good to go. Can you send a d2 friend request to me.

Still doesn't seem accurate. Socialists, like Canada, reward people for not working, in terms of welfare, (which is given out WAY TOO EASILY.)

In terms of communists, it's not that the hard working aren't rewarded, it's that the hard working get the same pay, but a more enjoyable job. If you refused to support the Soviet ideology, for example, you became a miner. However, if you were a good Soviet, you became a spage-age rocket scientist, and had a much more enjoyable job.

In terms of ballast, if you kick someone's 🤬, I penalize you. It's rewarding good behaviour (not getting penalties, racing clean,) and punishing for being WAY TOO FAST. The fact is, Johnny ran the Civic and got 1:17s, so I know it's not the car, and Johnny gave me his tuning setup (which made me slower  ) so it's not the tuning setup. I have no answer for Johnny. How do I get a chance to be competitive? Prodigy...? LOST_PLAYER_1?

That is why we went to 2 divisions. So the slower drivers wouldn't be discouraged from competing. I will consider not trying as hard when I know I am slower because of a massive ballast penalty.

I propose if we keep the success ballast system that we broaden it.

1st in points after the round keep the 1 kg for every 2 points.
2nd and 3rd go 1 kg for every 3 points
4th and 5th go 1 kg for every 4 points
6th and 7th go 1 kg for every 5 points

I think we could use division 2 better than we have. Who said we have to have 16 people racing if only 7 have a shot? We should use division 2 more than we have...

You guys were saying the Top Five rule was too complicated... Now this? Asides from the 33% of ballast removed, in your case, I fail to see the difference in how it runs, it's still slowing down the faster drivers...

But, who wants to be put into Division 2?

Sounds like we have completely mucked this up big time. I wonder what jp will say about this since he is leading the points. I would like to hear more opinions. Not just his. What about some of the slower drivers? Post up guys. Voice your opinion.

Who wants to be put in division 2? Probably no one because of the mentality of "I'm not good enough for the best division, so I'm not going to show up"

I think that division 2 should be used to toss people that don't have a shot at winning in division 1, into a position that they have a chance at winning.

Personally, I have more fun winning than I do losing. And if someone isn't having fun in division 1, I think they should ask to be moved down. Or we could have a rule like "X amount finishes under X position will result in a move to division 2" and we could have a rule for Division 2 "X amount of finishes above position X will result in a move to Division 1"
