You guys were saying the Top Five rule was too complicated... Now this? Asides from the 33% of ballast removed, in your case, I fail to see the difference in how it runs, it's still slowing down the faster drivers...

Well jp was fastest at Madrid. He gets slowed down the most. I was slower than jp, so if I get slowed down as much as him then he is still faster than me in theory. The same goes for 3rd 4th and 5th under your system. They get penalized and still be slower than the cars who were ahead of them who were penalized the same.

Why do you guys have to make things so complicated?
If the top three get ballast then it will open up the field ...

@CND In theory that would not be correct. JP was fastest so he will get the most weight. Dependent on what his car specs are going to be defined at, he should technically be heavier than you. There or there about. I would love to have an opportunity to win without having you or JP in the mix. If I do win and get extra weight and you lose your weight then the race is back in your favor. It will give everyone an equal opportunity to win ...

Right. For now, everyone will at least try the success ballast FOR THIS ROUND, and give me feedback. If you're dead-set against it, after Race 1, reduce the ballast to what you think is reasonable, and post it on the thread AFTER THE ROUND IS OVER. Until then, I will not be hearing anyone's case about a new success ballast system. I want to try it, because I think it's the only fair way to properly continue to promote a new winner each round, or every race.

I have nothing against Johnny, but I want to see everyone being as competitive as possible, and I don't want to see Johnny win every race. We know he's fast, and that he can do good tuning setups (for wheel users only, it seems, because I use a DS3 and don't really like his tuning setups,) which is why I'd like to ensure that his success is limited, to ensure that other drivers, like Nizmo and Prodigy have a chance at winning, too. Everyone's close, and I believe everyone's capable, but it takes luck, speed, talent, and control. It's a steep learning curve, and I'd like to help knock down that mountain.

im for round by round success ballast, not culmative because come the last race of the season, some cars will be over 2000kg gross weight, and 1 car will surely be under 1500kg, then they could sweep,

That's the idea. I don't know how to explain it in its simplest form, but, the Top Five in the overall points standings will get their points from the previous round added to their cars:

Let's say, Dave, you were in the Top Five (as you would be, if the power workers in Australia did their jobs):

Madrid: 90 points
Deep Forest: 45 kg., 86 points
Clubman Stage Route 5: 43 kg. 100 points
...: 50 kg.,

etc.

That's what I'm lobbying for ... round by round ... and lose the weight if you finish outside the Top3/5 in the next round ... It worked many a time IRL so why change the thesis for the game?

yeah sorta, but i think if you continually finish in the top 3, it should be culmative, to ensure equality, then once finished out top 5 have it round by round,

Again, we'll see how it runs... TODAY. :) :D IT'S RACE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't you mean race night for me? ... :dopey:

It's a choice I made hey ... nobody put a gun to my head and a bottle of rum to my mouth and forced me to join ... :D (though I wish they did with the rum):lol::lol::lol::lol:

I don't drink... ever... :nervous: it ruins the careers of many other racing drivers.

Lol ... they said the same thing about smoking and sportsmen, but many top athletes from different forms of sport has been spotted with a ciggy in their lips ...

Still, I don't plan on it. I don't want to deal with any problems. I'm willing to do anything to become a racing driver... Which is why I'm going to college, to be a mechanic, and work in my own racing shop. Once I have enough money, that should be somewhat simple.

How do we always tend to go off topic in the threads? ... but it does make for good conversation ...
I don't normally drink, but I been feeling for a drink lately ...

BTW, thanks for updating the Team Banners ...

You're welcome for the off-topic discussion.

You gave me no choice BUT to update the Team Banners!

Is that a bit backwards?

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my team mate for the idea. Without him, it would not be possible and I could not accept this award ...

Thank you guys ... I love you ...

That's a lot of people laughing at your joke. I must be the only person who doesn't understand. :grumpy:

Anyways, about 9 minutes until my future co-worker friend with the RX-7 and R32 Skyline comes back on Skype... :)

Um I was trying to give an acceptance speech to keep things off topic ...

Anyway back on topic ... you should state the race distance and race info for those who don't know ...

K Raikkonen seems to do ok on the drink, as for the smokers, no evidence... the oldest person in australia is 112 years old, she smoked from the age of 14, quit at the age of 104, here reason for quitting is because its deemed socially unacceptable lmao

I'm fine with success ballast. I'm fine with Seth being given a chance to reduce his penalty. The thing I don't like the idea of is if Seth's penalty is completely reducible, without him running a success ballast in agents place. After all, if he completely gets his penalty back, then he's 3rd/4th after Madrid and he gets no success ballast this weekend. However, I couldn't find the post about how reducible Seth's penalty is, Polar doesn't know how reducible it is (asked him on Skype) and considering my earlier post was seemingly completely ignored, I suppose no one is going to enlighten me?

btw, is jp racing today???

Seth got his penalty given to him during the week so he should keep it was... He is currently sitting behind me in the championship ... That's enough to warrant that he doesn't get a weight penalty .... He done the crime, served the time now just let him be ...

The point is that there has been a mention of reducing the penalty, given that Seth doesn't get into anymore trouble. Like I said, if he ends up having the points wiped completely, then he'll get his points back, effectively be 3rd out of Madrid and have these races with no success ballast. If he's not allowed a complete wipe off on the points penalty, then how much is he capable of wiping off? Will it enable him to get ahead of agent after Madrid? Why not just let him keep the points, which can be returned via good behaviour, on reprimand? That way he has to behave to keep the reprimand points, and he doesn't gain an unfair advantage with a lighter car.

IMO, he should have to keep the point penalty and make sure that he keeps his nose clean for the rest of the season so that no further points will be deducted ... What's done is done so it should stay that way ... No chance of leniancy should be given to any driver ...

yeah i agree, his ballast should go off his points at the end of the three races, then the points penalty shouldve come into play, thats how this works in real series,

btw, speaking of ken block, i think he should be in F1 at silverstone lmao, its polar duck wether

However, it has been mentioned that the points penalty isn't guaranteed to be remaining. He works off all his penalty, then he has 101 points from Madrid. But at the moment, he won't have a success ballast that goes with having that many points. Like I said earlier, if you're going to punish someone, punish them properly. Don't offer a possible advantage, that would come from regaining the points AND having no success ballast.

At this point not likely.

Sounds like we have completely mucked this up big time. I wonder what jp will say about this since he is leading the points. I would like to hear more opinions. Not just his. What about some of the slower drivers? Post up guys. Voice your opinion.

On the whole, no I don't like success ballast. We had a discussion in ORCA about equalizing things between the faster and slower drivers recently and it was shot down by the drivers and surprisingly, not just by the fastest drivers, but by the slower guys. If I could paraphrase, their basic reaction was, "I want to win or do well in this series without a handicap otherwise it'll be a hollow victory. If I podium I want to do it on my own merits not because the faster drivers had slower cars".

Had I known there was success ballast I would not have entered the series to be honest. On the other hand, I look at this as a beginner's series that isn't really about all out racing, it's more like a fun way for guys that sort of know each other to get together and race on Saturdays. Rules are more lax than I'm used to, organization leaves a lot to be desired, things are sort of made up as you go along. What I'm used to is 99% of the series laid out beforehand and only minor tweaks here and there before the series starts. I'm doing my best here on GTPlanet and behind the scenes to put a coat of primer and some paint on some things but I'm not having much success it seems. I also know I'm probably going to miss a few races so I'm not really a contender for the title and so a lot of stuff I would normally object to or not enter a series because of, I just let go.

Someone mentioned before about Communism/Socialism. If you're going to hand out penalties and they're just going to be erased later, why bother handing out the penalties at all? What about the people who are negatively affected by the actions of the person penalized? Are you going to give them back the places they lost when they got taken into the guardrail from behind?
It's basically a green light to drive like a 🤬 every couple of races with no lasting consequence. That does not make for good racing.
