Entered a race, Im in it but no car and what looks like panoramic view of the race between 2 cars at Daytona Oval, tried to leave and came up with the usual not aloud during a race. Wonder if update this morning as done this

Had a similar problem on Fuji 700pp, i loaded up the race and instead of loading me onto the grid, it dropped me on the back straight facing the chicane. No HUD or anything, i could also press start to bring up the 'pause' menu but couldn't quit as i was in an Online race. I could watch from that position and for a few laps i watched the opponents drive through me. I PS buttoned out of the game, loaded up again with no problem.

I am having this exact same problem also. Six attempts at starting a race at Suzuka and only one success.

I've had this problem in the past but it was very rare, now it is happening all the time.

Ok, so that's what happened, thought I saw you in the grid a few times. It's been acting quirky most of the morning. Three times the grid showed 12 slots and only myself and another would actually be in the race, plus it seemed to match other races very slow and a lot of disconnects. :ouch:

It's probably connection. I've encountered something similar in the Beginners HSR race, it seemed to just show a replay of the previous race.

This happened to me a long time ago (actually a whole year ago) so its nothing new, but sounds like connection problems on the server(s) have made it more likely to happen.

You are not on your own guys, it happens to me on a number of occasions.

Just tried 4 times at Fuji, all failures and now I am stuck looking at the GT logo and can't even PS button my way out of it.

I think the server maintenance was actually a downgrading of the servers.

This is getting worse now, I'm freezing on the matching complete screen now.

No the two races i managed to enter when you was there, i started from the back and by the beginning of lap 2 doppi1 and gundralini took me out of the races both times, maybe being in the GTLM spooked them

I understand. I know you guys frown on it a bit, but taking a tick or two off your pp at least cuts this down a bit, how can it be fun when you have to run a gauntlet of bashers just to survive the race let alone have a chance of being in contention. I run at 798 and usually start in the top 6 or 7 still some fools but still less of them to contend with. To me it's very frustrating to have a hack just for the fun of it take me out... grrrrrrrr.... :grumpy:

I've had other connection problems, but never this one. Wish I did though, it would be cool to have a birds eye view of the race once in a while. lol. I've a feeling that it is a feature to watch races, which has never been turned on in prologue.

As for dropping your pp to start at the front. Yes it is frowned upon. There is nothing to stop people doing it, but likewise, there is nothing stopping the guys that don't do it from hating you, calling you rotten for doing it, and losing all respect for you.

Matt.

This is a bit off topic but is the PSN network down? I get a failed message when i try connect

ok forget i asked. after many attempts i got on. sorry

That's happened to me too. THe first time, i was doing the 800pp race at daytona and the game froze. I started back up and no problem. Today, I did the same race again and I got the panoramic view thing that u get when you're in the menu before the start of a race around The speedway and I could see evryone else racing but i couldn't see my car and I couldn't quit

I got a couple of "Failed to connect to host" messages today at DS 800pp expert. Right at the end of matching, too.

One race had a strange grid, several 'pairs' of cars near each other with large gaps elsewhere instead of the usual spacing.

Did you guys read the news section that said they were doing maintenance last night?

That is most likely the problem.

I wish i was having trouble loading up! that would mean that i was not at work:tdown:

I was on last night and didn't see a "New" graphic on the news section. Haven't tried any races yet though. Probably just doing maintenance and it's a bit buggy until they are done.

They're doing more prep-work in anticipation of GT5.💡

3.5 hours online and only manages to start in 2 races, trust me - you're having more fun at work

I got the news at least a week ago. It said it would be shut down from 11pm to 5am US eastern time. I did a race that ran just over 11pm and when we went to start a new race, around 11:05 or so, it gave me the "connection to server could not be established" screen. So, it should be fixed by now, and if its not then they F'ed up. lol.

It seems to be taking ages to get on any online race & most of the time when it does finally say joining race it cancels & restarts. I'm loosing the will to live.

Matt.

I would rather be hated for dropping pp than being bashed (hated anyways) by unscrupulous idiots purposely trying to wreck you as you pass them cleanly, which by the way are mostly European. I'm not looking for respect, I'm looking for a clean competitive race.

Monday evening I had 7 "Failed to Connect to Host" in a row, then made it into a race only to be disconnected on the first lap. Then after rematching again, the PS3 locked up completey on the matching screen. After re-booting the unit, I had 3 successive "Failed to Connect to Host" again. Bottom line ..... 1 hour in the Playseat and not a single lap turned :nervous:

Don't have a clue what's up with PD's servers !!

You have it exactly right FLF... exactly.

In my case apart from the odd lemons from IT/DE most people i have come across who drive with intent to kill anyone else are the US with some CA thrown in. Now thats not to say all do it, I have had some good races with US guys from here and total strangers from the US. I think each country supplies a good quota of undesirables who drive to disrupt those trying to race clean

Damn straight, today I was on Suzuka and 2 [JP] racers both in red 599's were going out of their way to block, break test, ram & nudge everyone, they weren't even trying to race, I've never seen anyone so determined to ruin the race for every one, and [JP] racers are usually fairly clean. Anyway I agree Monkey, on the whole Canadians are the worst for deliberately crashing, but followed by Spanish.

Fair enough. I agree each country has their share of boneheads who's only purpose is to disrupt the race anyway they can. Being a pussy is not country specific.

I was only responding to the quoted poster's comments from the UK about being "hated" for starting with a few less PP's. Like I said before, if I have to knock off a few points to have a clean run then so be it. You can "hate" me all you want but you're not going to catch me. :sly:

Please don't take this reply to be inflammatory or disrespectful, but I'm just letting you know precisely the state of play.

There are hundreds of members here from all countries who drive with a GTP tag (and many that do not) who do not bow to the temptation of a front row start by lowering PP and manage to win races, have superb races and generally enjoy themselves by running the max PP and race on a level playing field without that "if I have to knock off a few points to have a clean run then so be it. You can "hate" me all you want but you're not going to catch me." attitude, which truthfully will keep you from being admitted to the GTP registry should you ever wish to participate in that way.

All the best
Maz

So you are that fast that nobody can catch you, but you still need to knock off PP? 👍

Lowering PP to get to the first corner ahead is cheating in my eyes. If your ability is really that high why do you feel the need to lower PP? Why not just enjoy racing for the fun side, and not focus on winning so much? Something to prove?

As Maz says, it's looked down on here at GTP and is disrespectful to other racers.

Wanna bet? Where's the fun and challenge of racing if you start at the front all the time.

By lowering pp you'll just end up in I vicious circle. Guys will just run with lower pp than you. Then you'll drop your pp more, then they will drop theirs more and eventually you'll all berunning at minimum pp.
