What Attracts you to GT5?

What drives me to love this flawed yet beautiful game? The beauty of the automobile and this game, also the fact that this series introduced me to my love of the mechanical beasts we drive everyday.

I've loved this game series since I was young and considered it the only serious console racing game in a realm plagued by arcade racers where nitrous is the dominating element. This makes me an oddball amongst my paisans (Venezuelans) who instead of the joy of seeing how a car more or less really machinates they see boredom. They prefer nitrous over apexes and rice over actual useful aero.

I feel odd just writing this.
 
I like this game because its based on skill. There is no luck involved, and after whooping someone. They know it.
 
What attracts me to GT5 is the car selection, and the ability to get the cars to drive as closely as the real life counterpart 👍.
 
I like the experience of driving different kinds of cars, experiencing different kind of noises from different parts of the car.
 
- Beautiful graphics
- Realism, as in : car handling and steering wheel feel
- Awesome premium cars
 
Pretty much nothing anymore,because hybrids are gone.. but drifting and drifting community here are the things that has kept me with gt5 since the launch

Lol its cool man because I don't like arcade race games that much anyway. I love more realistic racing games because it brings out our skills than just drifting for boost *cough* ridge racer *cough*). This series will never die, and If it does, then the world will end. No doubt about it.

At first it was the 1000+ cars in the game, then I found out about drag racing 2 months after I had gt5
 
Drifting and hanging out with people with same interests is what keeps me coming back. Knowing that every online experience will be different from day to day as I meet people from around the globe. If you have a mic and drift...join a L2D tandem room when you see us.

I'll keep that in mind when I race again tomorrow. :) yea the community is like no other. Even though some fighting can occur, it doesn't take away from the experience. I love meeting new people because it opens up so much of the GT world because some players of this game, really know their cars. I absolutely love it :D
 
It's always the game case itself, the feel of the plastic, the smell, that rush when you hear the case open with that... "click" ... I always have to make sure no one's around when I slide my... disk into the PS3 :sly: :lol:

Let's be honest, the only way GT5 would be perfect for each of us is if it had a version made especially for each of us, to our own particular taste. GT5 does a very good job of catering for so many tastes! Yes it's not perfect but it does have a very broad target audience.

I particularly love modifying and improving cars and GT5 keeps me happy most of the time due to the large amount of cars it offers. If it had less cars, it would have to have more parts to modify them with, in my opinion. I often spend at least 2 hours preparing every car I own to see which is best for a particular race series, then spent 30 minutes racing it.

Yea it caters to everyone's tastes and to me, this series is the life source of playstation. PD has been dedicated to playstation for so long, it feels like it can be the grandfather of playstation. They made a game with only 5+ in the first title and now they have came all this way and made so much money that they can literally take money showers and roll in fat stacks of cash. They've worked so hard for us and it's only right to show them the respect and love they deserve.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has made my thread the most popular one I've made so far. I know I couldn't have done this without you guys and it means a lot to me. Even tough I caused some trouble in the past, I've learned from it and I'm trying my best to come up with ideas. So thanks once again for everything :D :)

Lol no, just having a little fun. Gotta take a break from all the arguments and flaming that happens on most threads now a days.

In a serious response to the OP, what attracts me to GT5 is the ability to drive a lot of cars and have them perform really close to the real world. I don't have the money to race in real life, so GT5 is my vice. I love being able to drive different cars and push them to their limits and just enjoy pushing for fast lap times. Getting a really good group of core guys together and having really intense clean battles is what puts the cherry on top.

Used to play the likes of Lotus Challenge on my old Amiga 500, along with Test Drive 2 etc. Those were the days! GT5 just allows me to test such a huge number of cars, plus I love driving in real life so I never get bored of racing games, to be honest.

Yea I used to play those kinds of games when I was young like Driver and Test Drive. Then I got into the GT series from my father when I was about 4, and I loved it. After that, my love for automobiles has sky rocketed and I love to be able to point out what make, model, and year that certain cars are. And it's all thanks to GT and every single joy it gave me over the years. I have my own 02' Mazda Protege 5, and I'm just surprised that I just don't go out for a drive lol But I'm just glad I'm car smart. Now I can help fix cars without spending an arm and a leg for a dealer to repair a simple problem when I can do it myself. :D

What attracts me to GT5? Why do I keep coming back after dealing with its "major" flaws and shortcomings? I know for a fact that almost every time I pop the disc in I'm going to deal with the same artificial exhaust note, the same unorganized used car dealership, the same subpar standard cars, and the constant loop of The Entertainer melting my brain slowly. Yet after almost two and a half years, I still come back. Why?

To me, GT5 has a certain soul, a certain essence, that draws me into it. Maybe it is because of that overall feeling when you examine your garage, personalizing and setting up every car with the limited tools available while that smooth jazz and bossanova plays in the background. Maybe it is that satisfaction you feel when you barely inch your way through the finish line in an online race, or hit the perfect line in a hotlap. Or better yet, maybe it is just simply cruising the Ring at dawn with your favorite car, feeling the feedback through the wheel in each and every turn and bump.

Whatever it may be, GT5 somehow captures me under its spell and leaves me wanting more after each session. I honestly thought I would have shelved it a month after release due to all its flaws, but I always try to find some personal time to play it almost every day. Once you look beneath its ugly shell, GT5 shows its true self and just simply shines. :)
