Should've added a mix as an option.

I use interior for most racing, but if I'm doing a time trial or hot lap, I usually pop onto the roof/hood cam, as that gives me a better view and feeling for distances.

I like to simulate what I see when driving at the limit, the closest to this is Hood.

A better view (with a G25, G27 etc.) would be internal but without the wheel, higher and further forward than in GT5P.

When driving quickly you do not "see" any of the interior of the car it is registering in your peripheral vision only, in a rhd car you "see" the top of the steering wheel and the right hand pillar, but that's it. To "see" anything else you have to move your eyes/head, with my perfect view head tracking would take care of this.

In my opinion, Chase is only faster if you don't know the circuit, as it gives you a much wider and longer angle. Bumper, like Hood gives you the advantage of feeling the cars subtle movements, but does not let you see where you are positioning your wheels.

I'm planning to get a wheel when GT5 comes out, so probably 'bumper' or 'hood'. I imagine 'cockpit' would be very weird with two steering wheels, or is it?

Chase view makes me feel weird, like not exactly sick but kind of disoriented. Funny thing is tho in GTA chase view doesn't do this to me.

Cockpit view with G25 has the same kind of effect for me - doesn't "feel" like I'm actually driving but not as bad as chase view.

I am definately am a bumper cam guy. I will give GT5 a run with all of them though just to take the time to appreciate all of PD/KY's hard work.

Third person/chase cam, it's how I started playing racing games so I'm just used to it by now. I'll dabble with the interior view occasionally but it just never feels right in any game.

I prefer cockpit view because it is the simulation of driving, not directing a car from 3rd person view!

But for seeing more of the track and quicker time trials it seems hood/bumper (lack of better word) cam is better, but I seldom use it.

In games with replay I like to watch in 3rd person view as a specatator of the race might; or a viewer watching the 'televised' race.

Race ya later!

I'm Cockpit view all the way for an enjoyable experience 👍:sly:

but for some reason, like others I'm faster with the Bumper view:indiff::(

I'm faster with internal veiw and you can tell the time on the dashboards with clocks. It's seems sill for pd to go to all that trouble just to model it for people to just disable it.
It's like going to extreme lenghts to model damage only to find people turn it.........

Nevermind.

I usually use roof cam because its feels better in a way
Same here. It gives me peripheral vision, it gives me a great view of the road, and it centers me on the car's center of gravity which gives me an excellent sense of being connected to the car. Cockpit view would be good if it didn't seem like I was driving in the back seat of just about every game it's in.

Sometimes I'll use chase cam if I'm still having trouble nailing a turn properly or hitting the apex early, but roof cam is just fantastic.

I'd have thought that too but judging by the poll results it's very popular. Not sure if that's because this board is full of Car-geeks who want to see the inside of the Veyron and imagine they're in it, tho, or if the majority of joe public will go for it too.

Lets face it, hood/bumper cam is the easiest to play

That depends. I can see the chase cam having advantages for the people who are used to it. Can't help feeling they must be having a different game experience than us bumpercam and cockpit junkies, tho. Having your head roughly where it would be seems more visceral and immersive to me. Chase cam makes me think of an RC racer but with that said your peripheral fov is miles better.

Both i guess, it is that good. ;)

I always prefer to use bonnet (hood) view where available, but having never had this option in a GT game, I have used the bumper view.

I voted hood view.

I, like most people, started out with Chase View and ran with that for some years (GT2->GT3 and some of GT4) but I switched to Bumper View after a while in GT4 and since then I have never looked back. Lap Times and overall driving experience was improved. Interior View is probably something I will use quite alot also, somewhat of a tradeoff though. Better experience vs worse lap times is what I get from GT5:P.

Head tracking will probably make the Interior View hugely improved over the current one though, so I might end up playing mostly interior thanks to that.

I'll switch between outside and interior views to get a full appreciation of Polyphony's work. But if I'm driving a piece of crap car, I'll use the bumper view. Sorry, Kaz, but I wouldn't bring myself to look at some dull-as-rice (the food, not this) Toyota or Hyundai.

Most of the time I shall use the interior view but sometimes when races are really difficult I'll use bumper cam because I know I can get faster like that being more to see on my screen so I can concentrate more but I just love the interior view and that's why I use it.

Rarely in some races I'll use third person just because I love looking at the car and admiring the graphics and it would be a shame not to but I'll use my Dualshock for that.

What do you need for head tracking? W

Will that be available in GT5 when its released in the future this century?

I agree chase view is like driving a remote controlled car, but fun to watch at times.

Really depends what i'm doing, if i'm just cruising then interior, racing then bumper and drifting bumper since the wheel only turning 90 is very off putting XD.

It almost feels as it though the understeer effect is taken away with cockpit camera. Don't know how to explain it.

Yeah I fully understand what you mean, it just seems like I can judge speeds so much better with cockpit and therefore, rarely enter corners too fast.
