You said you didn't understand why people didn't use cockpit view. My post was to try and explain why.

Yes, i know, and i know why you don't like to use it ( and i sort of understand ;) ).
I just wanted to clarify my own argument in my previous post, to avoid confusion, not to cause it.....:scared:

I use the bumper view, because the FOV, the arms and steering wheel put me off in cockpit view, especially the way the wheel does not turn the same as what i do. I use a wheel for GT and I think it's wierd having another wheel and arms driving the car in the game. I always use cockpit view in LFS though, because all these things can be adjusted to suit my preferences.

If GT5 has a virtual mirror on the hood view, I will be using that instead. If not, I use the bumper view for a better point of view.

Interior for me!

I will occasionally use the bumper cam if necessary, but I've never needed to with GT5p. Supercar Challenge I have moved from interior to hood/bumper cam, mainly because of the weather. Looking through a water swepped windscreen, that takes up less than half of my 20" screen makes driving at speed rather tricky! :nervous:

When interior view was available for GT, I never really looked back. It really brings another dynamic to GT 👍

You can adjust field of vision right?

I am going to try adjusting mine to see if I can see more of the mirrors from interior/cockpit view

Guess I'm part of the minority who use the Chase cam, oh well. I use it for the fact it is familiar to me, as I've been using that view since the first game. That and I get to gawk at my pretty car without wasting an extra 10-15 minutes of my time to do it during a replay :P.

Sure, the realistic way is faster, and well... More real. Gran Turismo, while being a simulator (and a very good one), is still a game. Thus, I play it the way I'm best at. I'm fine to not experience the most realistic experience it offers, as long as I'm enjoying myself.

I love interior. I love being immersed. I use it for casual use and races, but when I'm doing serious time trials, I use bumper. Somehow, my lap times are significantly better when using bumper

Just out of interest, do you drive in real life?

The names are confusing, what we regard as bumper cam is windshield view, and hood view is roof cam.

Or that's what I concluded. I do admire you guys who use interior view.

I have heard a lot of people talking about camera angles in GT5, and I was wondering what one people will use in the game.

I did not know what the last two choices are like so I picked Hood view. I really want a dashboard view in the game! I do not like seeing my hands on my wheel and then seeing computer hands on teh computer wheel on the screen.

While I love the beauty of the rendered car and extra track scene in the third person view, it just feels odd for driving. Cockpit is great, and while it is what I mostly use, its peripheral view should be extended somewhat.

I am always switching between the interior view (my fav) and the bumper view. I can't get a feel for the racing line when I drive in the 3rd person view and I end up weaving all over the place! :dopey: And that hood cam (the one were you can see part of the hood/bonnet) doesn't feel right to me either. The reflections coming off the top of the car totally distract me sometimes.

Each to their own. I would never want anybody to play the GT in a way that they don't find enjoyable. Let me tell you a story: years ago, i only used to play racing games from the chase cam. Then something called Daytona USA came along, so it was the bumper cam for me. Loved it so much I even bought a saturn so i could play it at home. Then I saw the light and got a playstation, so when the original TOCA came out, it was a revelation. And from then on it was cockpit view for everything. Personally I hate it when the cockpit view is not available in a racing game, but I swear by the GT series because it is exceptional in every other way. My point is: try the cockpit view for GT. Get used to it, and you'll never go back. It completes the experience.

No, so that probably contributes to my use of the chase cam.

I have given it a try on Prologue, and couldn't really get a feel for it. I will give it a try again in GT5, and give it a lengthier trial, but no guarrantees.

I really should stick to bumper or cockpit cam, but I just can't be bothered relearning it. It's hard to relearn something which you've been doing differently since you were a young child.

That's just it: when you were a young child you probably played stuff like Chase HQ or Outrun. As I have said elsewhere, racing games have grown up in recent years, and so should the way you play them. Not being a driver myself(working on it though!) I appreciate stuff like the GT series where you can experience the real thing more than any other game. The cockpit view just completes the experience. Everybody should get used to it.

There's no such thing as should where menu options are concerned. Someone who's never driven a car IRL choosing chasecam doesn't surprise me as much as someone who has, tho. A lot of youngsters (too young to drive anyway) I've seen seem to prefer chase view.

For me, the biggest leap forward for the new GT5 will be the cockpit view. Couldn't care less about damage.

Agree with this personally, as i too look forward to driving all those cars in cockpit view, nevertheless people should be free to choose and express their own preferences, without someone else claiming they should get used to it purely because it's your and my personal favourite or our obvious choice.

Agree 100%. Racing games have grown up over the years, and so should the way people play them.

Racing games have grown up and a lot of us too, or at least grown with them as they've become more representative of real life experience both visually as in gameplay.
Not everyone is a veteran though, as GT is designed for a wide audience some of those players will be young and not familiar with previous GT-games, so to ask them to play in a grown up manner is like asking a toddler only to build realistic looking environments out of LEGO.....

If i play with the controller, i would tend to play with the Third "STationary" Point of View, (View from the back of the car, Chase View).

If i play with the DFGT, i would play with the interior cockpit view, which would then feel much more natural.

I just love the fact that we have all those choices... each person with his/her favorite view. 👍
