I will keep using the Roof view as it gives a better/earlier view of the corners as you approach them. I'm really really hoping they have added some type of rear view mirror for it though. Something like what the bumper cam has would be great!

Since only a 5th of the cars in the game have interiors, ill go with the old trusty bumper cam. Just easiest to play racing games that way.

Besides playing in the interior, you cant see anything. Its not realistic at all. You feel like you're sitting in the backseat.

Interior always. It gives me the most realistic experience... and I like to see speedometers get buried. For standard cars I guess I'll use the hood view... yuck.

Oh and chase cam for right after I get exhaust on the vette ;)

Cockpit view for sure, but I've always been a 'bumper cam' fan (though it's at driver's eye height, but slightly forward from the cockpit view, basically windshield distance with the car not visible, NOT at bumper level :p)

Having recently, finally, bought myself a wheel I find cockpit view by far the most immersive experience and much easier with a wheel for some reason than I found it when using a Dual Shock. I'm glad I've adapted to the cockpit view since of course it's the most realistic view really, plus with all the fancy weather effects and detailed interior it's where I'll be to enjoy everything this game has to offer, where it's available.

If I am already fast enough to win the race and just want to have the best experience, then I will use the cockpit view.

If I'm trying to go fast, then I'll use bumper cam.

None of the other views come into play for me.

Premium cars - cockpit view.
Standard cars - bumper cam, or hood cam if there is a proper one.

I'll switch to chase cam every once in a while to see the exhaust backfire and when I purchase an upgraded exhaust system to hear the sound. Also to see the sexy race mods applied to the cars.

Bumperview, interior view takes up too much screen real estate space and you don't get the best view of the on coming apexes. Its much different from real life. However I will admit the camera is higher up so you have a better oncoming view. A trade off I guess.

I still can't believe more people voted "Hood View Stationary" then "Hood view dynamic"

Uh... you mean 3rd person? It is sort of surprising, yeah.

Meh, every car has some sort of blind spots, so that's realistic. Though I'll admit there are some small details about cockpit view that aren't quite right.

...

Cockpit view for me as often as I possibly can. Probably hood view if I'm stuck with a Standard just because I need some idea of the car's extremities, and bumper cam doesn't provide that. If I'm gonna fiddle with drifting in a Standard, chase cam (always needed an idea of the car's angle for some reason).

I've never seen 3rd person dynamic, how different is it from normal 3rd person driving?

I'll be using the bumper view for racing, but of course I'll take the time to check out the cockpits of the Premiums.

I'd like to use interior view but I think the way they have set it up it is blocking too much of the road and surrounds, and is not realistic. Check out 0.12 in the Rain montage video...

So I think I will stick to bumper cam as I have always done.

I think rain/snow should hit the camera or windshield no matter what view you use. If not anybody not using interior view will have the advantage of clear sight while the windshield of the interior will be distorted.

I agree it should be zoomed in a little bit on some cars, but I don't think it's that bad, I think polyphony is just trying to show more of their work, I think we can all live with it.

This reminds me of a point I'd been wondering about. What will GT5 do with the bumper cam in the rain & snow?

I'd very much like to be party to seeing that wet windshield effect in bumper cam view, but what about wipers? Surely, without wipers it should rapidly become impossible to see, especially with spray kicking up off the tarmac!

It'll be a real shame if people are forced to use the interior view to benefit from the latest additions to the franchise (head tracking will only be available in interior view as well by the looks of things). :ouch:

Thank you for your help but when the video loads it cancels and goes to the main youtube page.

EDIT:

Is it just 3rd person that zooms in or out depending on your speed?
So it allows your car to turn without staying directly behind it like most racing games do nowadays.
