Really, it amazes me how many people have disagreed with eachother concerning the Speed Twelve.
It's an acquired taste. Either you love it or hate it. I guess I learned to love it after my first WRS when it was the car of the week...

Eagle Talon:
-Front wheel drive that makes you want to put a dynamite stick in the engine compartment,
-Absolutely no torque.
-upgrade it with a stage 2 turbo and still can't climb a hill decently.
-Awful looking car.
-Only new car. Can't buy it used.
-Transmision that can't shift decently... You'll get stuck in 3rd gear wondering where is the torque???.

I buyed this car at first because I thought it would be a good contender in those rally races. Although I didn't see it was not the AWD version of the talon. Some people over here in Canada used this car a lot in rally and it was a great car but the front wheel drive version is a big disaster.

Um...its the non-turbo ESi, the comparasion to the TSi AWD should basically stop there. Not that I don't like the N/A DSMers, but 4G63>>420A, there's you're lack of torque. And awful looking?? I love the look of my car (red), I think the talon/eclipse have some of the cleanest lines of any "affordable" car. But hey to each their own.

B-spec is great for tuning and evaluating cars.

By watching your car race you can easily see/identify problems and then apply basic tuning meathods to correct them. I have refined my tuning enough to win the Sauber in B-spec using the F-1...even match ...

Your B-spec driver is a good "control" for experimenting with different cars and set-ups. Before you say something is no good- let B-spec try it out...it is multi-talented.

More strictly on topic, don't waste your money on the used SL600, bite the bullet and get the AMG SL65- it is twice the money- but it is at least twice the car...

I also really like the M-5 and all the old muscle cars...add downforce and they are awesome!

Okay, I'll put my two cents into this.
RUF CTR love it But you need R4 or R5 tires. does want to go it's own way sometimes
RUF CTR2 waste of 750+ K
Ford GT not good period.
Saleen S7 you need to want this car, needs to be loved or admired at least. the price alone will keep some away.
Mustang GT (I like this car) but does not know how to get out of it's own way. Begineers DON'T buy this car to drive, buy it only if you like it.

Nevermind on the G4, as far as beating the AC - I just looked it up at the dealer and it has 450+ horsepower stuck! Not worth my time to try and beat it with a 145 horse car, especially when it gives me a whole 2 a-spec points. Blech.

This thread will likely be more harm than good... but carrry on. It would really help if the descriptions were more specific than, say:

That really doesn't get the point across.

I know in GT3 I listened to the popular opinion that the SVT Mustang 'sucked and didn't handle for crap'. So I avoided one of the more fun and definitely the most cost-effective cheap car in the game until I was nearly finished. If I had tried it for myself I wouldn't have missed out on it for so long.

So just a warning to readers of this thread, don't take it as gospel. Try things for yourself anyway - sometimes somebody just can't learn how to work with a car. For another example, I hate understeer but I like the Ruf CTR-2. That's because the understeer is 100% predictable and controllable, and the car is astonishingly fast in between. So adapting to the car means the car doesn't suck; it just requires understanding.

The Mustang SVT Cobra R of GT3 wasnt bad. People just dont try to learn to drive it. I had that car for years in GT3 and this is one of the best cars I ever had. Just try to learn the basics of the car, and practice. :)

As Ev0 said, it's definitely an aquired taste, I pretty much forced myself to master that car in every GT since it first appeared in GT2. I read things like what SFC_200SX said, it's a waste of 250,000cr and it annoys me because I know how capable this car is. But then I have to remeber how much effort I've taken to unleash that potential. If you can drive it, you love it, if you can't then you won't because not controlling the Speed 12 has a much worse effect than not controlling a fully modded R34, S7, Cien or anything else I've driven so far.

That's pretty rich, considering the Yellowbird held the street car lap record at Nurburgring for quite some time.

I love the yellowbird 👍 , the RUF BTR on the other hand has some very unpredictable handling.....on tight tracks no matter how much you slow for a tight corners it'll understeer BADLY im guessing its to do with the engine being above the back wheels? strange that the yellowbird doesnt seem to suffer from this nasty little handling trait, although it can get very edgy at top end its still fun to tame it :sly:

I know this thread is for the cars not to buy but as we're talking handling; theres nothing better for city-courses than an '04 Lotus Elise. I have it fully modded, put racing tires on and the thing absoloutly flies in and out of corners.

Did EXACTLY that, and well, IT'S SOOOO MUCH FUN!!:D:D It oversteers sometimes, making a spectaculair replay!!:D:D It's like a LM race car ONLY MUCH LIGHTER!!:D:tup:

Have you guys noticed that Pagani....eermg......the most expensive one(can't get on the name) If you put an extra stage 3 weight reduction on it, it's like an Elise with Ferrari power!! Now imagine THAT (or even better TRY it) it's VERY fun, but I've also updated the brakes, so it can brake harder, maybe medium racing tyres would be a good idea also?? Or a spoiler for downforce if it's allowed?? I've gotta go now but I certaintly try it:tup::D

Versatile too. I bought the 111R and used it for the Roadster, MR, and British Lightweight races. With few upgrades this car is incredibly quick. 👍

I think you can take almost any corner with full throttle except for the ones after a long straight, if it can't get thrue the corner, it OVERSTEERS A BIT in my case and it just drifts thrue that corner:D!!!

Edit: And for the Pagani, it's more of a struggle to keep this thing from taking of and fly thrue corners, the worse part is actually a whole circuit: El Capitan. Especially when coming down after that uphill corner, if you know what I mean:tup:

whaa, are you insane? it's best bang for the bucks for SL-series race! tune it up and it beats SLR McLaren with stock suspension and wheels, with equal weight and power! you just can't drive it correctly.. in my hands, it basically killed the competition. and irl, you can purchase one SL600'93 for less than 10.000€ in germany. 400 bhp for 10.000 €, compared for example to 350Z:s 280 bhp and 60.000€...... :odd:

I am now going to get all those cars on that list.....lol. It's a great challenge taking a "difficult" car and taming it so to speak. That is what I enjoy most in the GT series....making even the worst cars great to drive.

IF you want bad cars try driving the Mercedes-Benz Benz Patent Motor-Wagen around Le Sarthe or anywhere for that matter...he he he..now that is an experience that I will not be repeating soon. I fell asleep.

I went for the AMG E55 for the Silver Arrowrace(hehe it goes like hell)black with a wing and BBSrims topspeed is for now 386Km/h handles great to.Only thing that is crap about it is the sound, sounds like a hairdryer(Sorry bad English).Just bought myself a MB SL600 1998(In the colour Bornit)redbrownish look. 👍

-Peugeot 905 Race Car '92
Slow upshifting= loss of power/speed/performance

I don't understand what PD does with the 905's gearbox. It doesn't shift as fast as the other LM cars (and as fast as most of the cars too). It's nothing like a race gearbox :yuck: It's very annoying because the pug is a real dream trough the corners. :grumpy:

A lot of people are not taking into account the fact that this game is trying to simulate! A TVR or a RUF IS hard to handle and wheelspins like mad, any car with that sort of power is going to do that! I put all Over/Understeer to 0 as I want to KNOW what it's like to drive these cars. My car is in the game and does feel similair to the real thing!!

Like wise my m8 has an Elise and even playing the game I can see how it feels like his car - nimble, great accelleration and it even feeels light in the game - just as the big mercs etc feel big and lumbering!!

:) I think the DFP makes a difference tho as you can regulate your throttle and brakes a lot more - even tho the analog sticks are a close second they are not the same....

The cars in gt4 do seem to handle very much like there real life counter parts this has impressed me no end

my mothers renault clio drives alot like the one in gt4 only with less power she owns a standard 1.2

I havent played many racing titles were cars actually FEEL similar there is normally something that makes them seem computerized, hell even the great Grand prix legends lacks that special something ! cant really explain what it is though

BMW M Coupe '98

- slow acceleration
- pricey once you have all the mods on it
- poor braking ability

I disagree. This car is a lot of fun to drive. Very lightly modded, of course. Don't expect to have it be a supercar or anything, its a different class (This car is in reality a special editon Z3 IIRC, not really an M class at all) I have two of them, and I absolutely love this car.

I also would like to disagree with the 'master list' up there, the Tuscan is right now one of my favorite cars. Though I'm not sure if its referring to the Tuscan or the Speed12. Both are a lot of fun to drive, I suppose they just fit my driving style, but I have no problems with them, you just have to be easy on the gas. I especially love the Tuscan in stock config, the only mods I have done to it is the clutch/flywheel.

My Vote for worst car, and I know everyone will hate me for this, is the Skyline. EVERY Skyline. Its like driving a brick on wheels, it brakes are horrid, and it really isn't that fast unless you dump a ton of money into mods, which I hate doing. My opinions of cars start with their stock config, if they can't be fun that way then there is something wrong with them. I loathed every license test with a skyline.

SLR mc laren is awful it has only one purpose in GT4 win the silver arrow championship that's all
brakes are lame and you can't even get the feeling of having 600hp,no wheelspin no oversteer (stock) juste a lame linear acceleration with no feeling of power  maybe it's the way to simulate the automatic transmission ??? lamest car ever anyway... a Toyota MR2 1600 G-Limited supercharger '86 is million times funnier to drive than this thing...
AVOID if not to win the silver arrow challenege.

Try switching off the driving aids, that's when you get wheelspins, more wheelspin than you'd want to see.

Well, apparently, that's just what the real car is like. I watched a segment on Top Gear and Jeremey Clarkson described it as a really accessible supercar. Accessible because it was easy to drive fast for the average person (vs. something like the Carrera GT).

He used this analogy: he had two plates of food--one had shrimp and avocado and lettuce loosely piled on it. That was your "typical" supercar. Then he showed the second plate. It had all the same ingredients, but this time assembled in a neat and tidy sandwich. That, was the SLR :D.

In the road test, he could easily manouever it with one hand and it accelerated so effortlessly he couldn't tell how quickly he had launched other than the fact that some of his innards were plastered to the back of his throat :)..

That "linear acceleration with no feeling of power" that you feel comes from the fact that, in reality, you are sitting in a chair in your living room ;).

the ford GT isnt that bad to drive expecially when you stick a wing on it and slap on some racin tires the GT feels like a whole diffrent car.

Also i dont know if any one else bought this car but the ASL galliriar(i dunno how to spell its name) seems like a slow car and has oversteer promblems and makes you wish you never bought it, but if you have the money once you fully tune it and set the weight balance about 15-22 back into the rear it becomes a very fun car to drive.

wow i read the first post on which cars are crappy and when i saw the S7, i was SHOCKED!
sUn must not know how to drive, when i bought the S7 not knowing if it would be good or bad, i fell in love with it! its one of the best handling non-racecars in the GAME.
i also love the shift through the first and second gears.
& i remember someone mentioning that is has one of the best power/weight ratios around.

Ok i had the same problem with them in GT3 and I have the same problem with them in GT4. In GT3 i bought every model Merc just making sure it wasn;t a particular model issue but it wasn't and again in GT4 it's the same thing. I've never drivin one in real life but my god these are the worse handling cars i have ever drvin. Drove the SLK in the National A license i think and your whole attitude to driving it has to change just to keep it on the track. I find this car the hardest to drive out of all the cars I've ever drivin in either 3 or 4. The cars inclination to always be on the edge of its grip no matter almost what speed is totally unaccepted in a brand which is supposed to be one of the best in the world. Yes i know there heavy but i personally hate driving them and i'm into heavy cars, for god sakes i own an Australian Ford Falcon - but to be honest both Falcons in Gt4 handle a million times better than that SLK. Is it just me or does anyone else find them extremely hard to drive ?

I'm wondering if some or all of the people saying certain cars suck ever drive the car unmodded, or just jump right in and max it out with a stage 4/5/whatever turbo ... Maxing the car out with mods can completely alter the handling characteristics of the car, and in some cases make the car very unforgiving and difficult to drive. This is especially the case when you mod a car to have double the HP of what it originally came with, and try to compete with cars that have the same ammount of HP stock. Most of the time, the stock cars will be much better ballanced cars, and your tuner-special car will have a hard time cornering and breaking against them.
