ANY JAPANESE CAR THAT CAME OUT BEFORE THE YEAR 1999 - God, there are 40 Skylines. I don't even have to explain this one. Unless there's a particular model with a body style that you hold near and dear (like the first car you ever bought or something, sentimental and such), DO NOT buy it.
Quite the generalization, eh..Mr. ****? So I should ignore the
lighter versions of these
less expensive models? And although nearly everyone agrees with your Skyline comment, it's out of context with your agument.
ANY CIVIC OTHER THAN THE SPOON MODEL - Ok, the majority of the Civics (i.e. all except the spoon one) suck, and even the Spoon model isn't that great...
You need a Civic to pass the game, and get that nice little '87 Motul Civic race car. In any case, you don't have to dig too deep to get a decent Civic for the One-Make events. The Spoon's always been over-rated (usually gets less power when fully upgraded, and still understeers despite the fact it weighs less than other Civics).

Alpina whatever it's name is.... the one you can buy. It drives like crap in my opinion, I wouldn't buy it for anything other than the Alpina challenge to win the other Alpina car.
Actually, this series was so much fun, I ran it twice...once with the VE (the butt-engined "wagonoid") and again with the curvy one you win as a prize car. It just takes some getting used to driving an RR car (hint, start with no tuning upgrades or Driving Aids).
If you want to talk about cars you shouldn't buy, that will depend on whether you're in it to buy as few cars as possible, or collect as many of the same type of car, or wind up with one of each of the 700+ cars in the game. Take the lower list with a grain of salt...For example:
MGF '97
Shouldn't be bought because if you buy the '03 model, you can race it in the One-Make MGF series and win a '97 for sweeping the 5 races.
Isuzu 117 Coupe
Hard to find in the used historic pile, because it's a prize for the Isuzu Sports Classics.
Jaguar XJR-9
You win it for 50% completion. (Yours truly was still determined to buy it at the first possible chance, because it was the first consistent Porsche-962-slayer. Besides, 50% will take me another 6 months or so.)
Motul Civic Race Car '87
Prize car for the Civic races.
This list could go on...basically, consult the proze list if you want, or avoid it and have fun with the game.
