Same as most people; all premium, all the time. That means all cars and all tracks.

Leave the past behind PD, this number fixation you or Sony decided on has made you look sloppy.
If you were following the development of the game, you'd know the reason why there are only 200 Premium cars in the game is because a) Polyphony could only make that many in time for the game launch and b) they could only fit that many on the disc.

How many polys in each car? Between 250k-500k, right? They have 200 of them. FM3 has 400 cars at up to 170k on a 9gb DL DVD. I'm not buying the fact the game has filled a Blu-ray, unless there are actual figures and PD have used uncompressed data to willy wave.

Cars aren't the only thing in GT5. The Rome and Madrid circuits took Polyphony two years to build. Each. And how long do you think it took them to build Eiger and the Nurburgring and all the photomode locations? How big do you think those are?

Probably not the best part of 50gbs.

Probably not the best part of 50gbs.
Well, there is obviously a reason why Polyphony did not make all 1000 cars Premium. Yamauchi-san said he would have liked to, but there were certain constraints that prevented them from doing to. The available space on the disc was one of them; the time the development team had until the game's release was another factor. There is not some giant conspiracy to screw the little guy here.

Put it this way: one of the leading reasons where there are only 200 premium cars is because Polyphony realised they'd put so much into the game that there wasn't enough space left over to make all 1000 cars Premium. In fact, IIRC, 200 may have been as many as they could get with the amount of space left on the disc (and/or as many as they could get done in time for the game to be printed and released). Circuits like Madrid and Rome took them two years to develop, and neither is a particularly large circuit the way the likes of Cape Ring and Eiger are. So an open-plan city that would be large enough for the player to drive themselves to a) the player garage b) dealerships, c) used car lots, d) events, e) licence tests, f) photomode, g) the auto shop, h) online lobbies, i) arcade mode and j) the options menu (I'm assuming that the open-plan cityscape would replace the menu entirely; to have a menu system and a cityscape would be redundant), then you're talking about a fairly large city - at least as big as Tokyo R246, and probably bigger. And then you'd have to populate that city with other cars, unless you want the player to be driving around on their own. In the end, it will be a bloated mess that will take Polyphony years to code without actually adding anything to the gameplay experience. If you want that city to be populated by other players in an online capacity, then it gets even worse. They'd be better off streamlining the menu system - it's faster, more effective and user-friendly.

I don't think size is an issue. At all for any consideration. Just provide more Blu-ray discs in the box. Sony are quite happy to offer multi disc games, i seem to remember one version of Final Fantasy coming on 4 discs. That could be over 220GB of data on the Blu-ray format.

Even if you did that, I'm still failing to see what a free-roaming city would add to the game. A big complaint in some of the reviews is that the menu system is not user-friendly, and I'm not seeing what a free-roaming city would do to rectify that. I don't want to spend ten minutes driving across the city to a race; I just want to race. At most I'll spend two minutes sifting through menus before entering an event. And I think that should be a rule: if a player cannot get from the main menu screen to where they want to be in under two minutes, the system needs work. Driving across a city would just be a boring waste of time. The only solution I can think of would be to set the entire game in the paddock of a racing circuit, with the player able to move around between various parts to explore what they want to (ie the pit garage is the home garage; the events can be found by driving to the end of the pit lane; the paddock itself is the car lot, etc.). But Codemasers have already done that in F1 2010.

It was actually confirmed by someone on GAF that GT5 is on a 25gig BR and not a 50gig one.

What do you want out of GT6

  • To be released in 2011 :D
  • No delays

I think GT6 will be released for PS3... Two series per console? :) Correct. Every PlayStation platform would have two GT games. For istance GT1 and 2 were released on PS1, so PS2 got GT3 and 4. ;)

Well, my little wishlist:
- Less duplicates. Things like 3000GT SR and 3000GT VR4 is acceptable, but EU S2000, JP S2000 and US S2000? 👎 Agreed, too many domestic market versions are annoying. :yuck:
- More premium cars. If the number of Premium:Standard reach 50:50 or more, just get rid the Standards. Problem is that take would take longer to make it.
- New awesome, complex tracks but also bring back the good old ones. El Capitan, Pike's Peak Long, Test Course, blah blah blah and a touge track. Even an American developers can do it, why Japanese can't? Sign me up. :dopey:
- New Astons, RUFs, Bentleys, Shelbys, Fords etc. Make a deal with Koenigsegg, Vector, Kia, Ultima etc. I may neutral here...
- Tweak those awful shadows. And slightly better trees. :dunce: There is a petition for a patch against bad shadow. 💡
- Hood view! Agreed. 👍
- World map interface. That make the GT feels huge, massive. GT4 almost did this. :sly:

Just my two cents.

The replies are in quote ;).

Less Drama.

What you mean by drama?

What you mean by drama?
Probably the whole six year development cycle with multiple delays, lawsuits from disgruntled locals who don't like their town featuring in the game, the kafuffle (yes, it's a word) over Premium vs. Standard, the Forza Wars, etc., etc., etc.

Full 1080p and a solid 60fps with V-sync, so when is PS4 coming out:drool:

More stuff:
World map menu and "traditional" main menu (with list of options and "GT6" written on top with the translucent background)
ALL THE FICTIONAL CARS SHOULD BE PRIZE-ONLY CARS
Also missions.

1: More detailed tuning, such as using turbos and roots or centrifugal superchargers or cams to alter the shape of your powerband to your liking.

2: Paint changes at any time for free(or a modest price at GT Auto). PD is already on the right track with offering matte finish paints when you do choose to use a paint item.

3: Basic livery editor, so that after performing race modification on your car, you can make it look like a professional race machine too.

4: Using the more relevant versions of a car and cutting down on duplicates. It's true that the R34 GT-R is a cool car, but maybe two or three versions are enough. A base model, the V-Spec Nur and perhaps the NISMO Z-Tune ought to be enough. This frees up space that can be devoted to entirely new models.

5: Look at the big picture when it comes to choosing cars to be included. KY said that by including some of the older Le Mans racers, players could have 'what if?' race scenarios. Great idea, but it needs to be applied in other areas of racing too.
After selecting a car, especially one famous in motorsport, consider its competition and how players would most likely want to recreate their battles in Gran Turismo. For example, GT4/5 has the MB 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution, but its chief rival, the M3 Sport Evolution, is still missing. :guilty:

I hope pd will scrap the standard car list and start up a new car list featuring the current set of premium cars, plus much more new ones, hoping they end up with around 500-700 premium cars.

Bring back all the tracks from prior Gt games, give us some more real world tracks, like spa too.

It was actually confirmed by someone on GAF that GT5 is on a 25gig BR and not a 50gig one.

They didn't need the 50gig anyway, the game barely topped 20gig on disc, which make me wonder why the install size is essentially half of the game.

I'm sick of these type of threads. PD never listens to us. But you guys have your fun.

I'd be happy with GT6 being GT5 where every car was premium with load times that didn't make you question if you even really did do an enormous install.

- Between 16-20 cars on track at the same time. PD should really be aiming for 20.

- UPDATED car lists, not just recycled GUFF from GT4

- Better segregation of categories (ie. GT500, GT300, WRC, DTM, GT1, etc.)

- Licenses of championships that not just on part of the world gives a t*** about (NASCAR = Southern US, WRC = Europe) ...give more variety of properly represented series, you don't even need the licenses, you just need the cars from category.

- Have an option of which categories to include in a race (see above for example of categories) for example, you choose a GT500/SuperGT GTR 08 but you don't JUST want to race against SuperGT cars, you want to race against GT1s, GT2s, DTM cars, etc. , but do it so that cars that are REALISTICALLY competitive against each other.

- This may sound silly but if you think of it, it makes a whole lot of sense and would free up disc space for more content: splitting the game into separate discs for Road Cars and Race Cars ... sounds stupid, but it makes sense, what you do then is you put Arcade Mode, Multiplayer, Time Trial, Online, etc. (basically anything outside of GT Mode) on to a third disc so the game would be as followed:

Disc 1 : Arcade

Disc 2 : Gt Mode (Road Cars Only)

Disc 3 : Gt Mode (Race Cars Only)

You do this so that the Race Car side is naturally unlocked via the Road Cars disc (but players will still be able to view the cars or preview the events), but you unlock it upon completing International and/or Super Licenses, what you then do is that you set the start of the Race Car side so that you can only start once you have either won or bought a race car, cars from the Road Car section will be unuseable on the Race Car Disc unless race modified, this way the Race Car section will be accessible, but has to be earned via logical progression.... and ofcourse, in Arcade you can use whatever the hell you want!

dude you want motorbikes this is a car game not a bike game

the first thing i want out of GT6 is:

not to take another 6 years!

There can be race cars in road car races (ie Lupo Cup Car) and vice-versa, so splitting the 2 types of cars between 2 disks isn't a very good idea.

Well for GT6 I want GT5 to work properly as advertised first, to get G2x to be fully supported, let us change gears up and down at will when drifting with clutch instead of the useless current function, to regulate tire pressure, rim sizes and widths (All which can impact on car performance), and they need to make some very important cars Premium as well.

So without further addo heres my ranty wishlist:
For GT6 (If I even buy it, as PD really lost my trust with GT5) I want the above abilities as well (I`m not buying GT6 to get the stuff I shoulda gotten in GT5 thats for sure, if they try to milk GT by fixing obvious functionality flaws from GT5 and just rewrap in a new package, I`m out.)
GT6 features I`d like to see is:
Full artistic freedom on paintjobs (Like Forza 3 I`m afraid)
More specific engine tuning, not just Stage 1 or Stage 2 stuff, I want bore-up, pistons, oil cooler, cams, crankshaft, crankshaft balancing rpm, choice between carbs and single body to individual body throttle injection with or without turbo with our without intercooler, anti lagg, turbo sizes, interior parts like gauges, steeringwheel, adjustable pedal box, etc, the whole lot!
The ability to put on fender arches and A LOT of rim offset to compensate for it, it`s called stance.
Tuning specific engine sounds, if I put carbs on a RB26 or L28E or 4A-GE I wanna hear that engine surkle and scream respectively, theres plenty of sound material to go through and they sure got enough money to do it obviously. If I put ITB`s on a 4age 16v I wanna hear that specific sound, not some made-up sound as if a 10 year old is trying to mimick F1 please.

--We need the quality of each car to be consistent, as the Premium/Standard divide just provides too much harmful contrast between the looks of cars. I'll be happy with 500 to a thousand Premiums if possible...just make sure that every car is modeled like a premium.

--Much the same applies to older tracks as well. In fact, I would rather prefer that PD transfer, upscale, and tailor all of the older tracks from GT4 that didn't make it into GT5 for the graphical quality we'll be seeing in GT5, which will probably be slightly more enhanced. And then, I would adore the game if it has SSR11 with both the GT1 and GT3 layouts, Complex String for practice and testing set-ups, and that would be it for older tracks. New tracks would need to be a good focus on real-life tracks, as I think we have just the right amount of fictional tracks. Spa Francorchamps, Pikes Peak, Silverstone, and Hockenheim would be good choices--I'm not too happy with most of the Tilke tracks, though.

--Weather and day/night options need to be available for all tracks and their variations. An added feature to help customize races a bit is to have a slider for how fast or slow the effects of weather and the change from day to night and vice versa would be. This would be great for shorter races of 3 and 5 laps et al.

--The menus should looks as smart and beautiful as ever, but they need to be streamlined and made easier to use.

--The used car dealerships, of course, need to be improved greatly from how they are now. And while we're on cars, I'll just say that duplicates and numerous models of the same brand, like the legion of Skylines that Kaz adores so dearly, aren't too cool with me. More diversity in region of make, power, and uniqueness needs to be apparent, and I want a good balance of slower and faster cars. I don't think that karts really need any further additions in terms of kart models, as the PD Kart works just fine and looks great. We don't need bikes either--they can wait for their own TT2, which will be a whiles off unfortunately for me. And finally, around 200 RMs would be sufficient for me, as they could use their time more wisely for other features.

--Leaderboards and greater online features out of the box, thank you. Leaderboards are already recognized as an essential part of the Time Trial experience, and being able to upload ghosts of other players' runs through a course, and observing what they did to get that time would be very rewarding in the long run.

--We need more of this godly jazz music, dang it. I already love to listen to jazz while I'm driving, as it doesn't get too much in the way of the experience, and the stuff I've heard in GT5 is the real deal. Less popular, licensed music if not none at all, PD!

And most importantly PD, when you make a promise to us all, deliver on it. This game was a PR nightmare and has devalued all of my respect for Sony in general, and I've become more wary of what PD does when developing. Find a clear set of goals to satisfy with GT6, nothing too broad like with GT5, and stay with the competition.

I hope they don't make the same mistake as with GT5 and try to put more in the game than the console can handle. Perfect 60 FPS and sharp graphics should be priority.

Problem is that take would take longer to make it.

Let's say, 5 years = 230 premium cars? I'd be happy if GT6 only have 460 cars, but all in premium quality and without duplicates. I know they'll lose the awesome 1000 cars mark, but Quality > Quantity. Remember bad reviews and disappointments of GT5 mainly caused by Standard cars.

I may neutral here...

I know it's very subjective. But why we don't get any new Bentleys or Astons (only a remade) since GT4? Where is the newer RUF, GT's substitution of lack of Porsche?

There is a petition for a patch against bad shadow.

I bet PD is handling this issue. But how about PD's trademark 2D trees? Just add 2-3 more cross polygons and they will looks 10 times better. Is that memory hogger?

/sarcasm People, just enjoy your GT5. ;)
