What games are you playing now?

I've decided to give Final Fantasy XIII another try, after almost 3 years of cooling down from my initial disappointment.

It's not bad. I kinda like it. Not the best Final Fantasy ever, but it's at least 5x better than VIII. :p

I like the premise, I like the setting and enviromnents. I like the combat, even though it's the source of some of my disappointment on account of it being, in some ways, a dumbed-down version of XII's combat, which I loved.

The main problems with the game are the fact that most of the main characters are annoying as hell, and how slowly the game's mechanics open up... especially painful when coupled with how linear it is. Also annoying is how frequently you jump between different characters in the game, at least the early chapters. Especially since that means you're constantly jumping from characters that you find tolerable to characters that you can't stand, often after only getting to play as the characters you like for maybe a handful of minutes.

The combat, as I said, is basically a watered down version of XII with a few so-so elements thrown into the mix. Which means it's good, but not great. Combat no longer takes place on the field (disappointing, but understandable given the corridor-like design of most of the environments), and fully customizable gambits and fully commandable party members gets droped in favor of 6 basic paradigm roles and only the leader being directly commandable.

So overall, meh. I moderately enjoy it, but it is rather disappointing as the final main entry in the series before it jumps ship from turn-based altogether in favor of an action-oriented approach with XV.

I don't hate FFXiiI, but You are so right. After watching FFXV E3trailer and playing FFXIV Beta. I start again FFXIII, and I'm feel what you wrote. The main problem for me is that, FFXIII is so linear and I dislike the others characters besides Lightning, special Snow. If you manage to finish FFXIII, and if you want, try get the XIII-2, the story is better, is not linear and the main character - Noel is not annoying.

I am playing either Skyrim, Grid 2, saints row the third, or you will find me on battlefield 3 I am sadly not playing GT 5 as I have lost interest again nd am sick of having to start dead last on the grid :(

Played some gunpoint en megadrive classics yesterday evening when everything in the man-computer-cave practically stopped melting, during the day the sun is heating it up quite a lot.:ouch:
Temps are just too high.

Syndicate. I don't care if it flopped. I don't care if it sucked. It's a cyberpunk game with an awesome soundtrack. The neon. The dubstep. The future is cyberpunk.

I'm currently getting back into Forza 4 a bit. A nice wheel sure helps to get some more shelf life out of it ;) Aside from that, Dark Souls on the PC and I'd like to get back into Dota II a bit. I suck so damn hard after not playing it for months, though.

Mousesports winning against Fnatic in an incredibly drawn-out match with a rather wacky selection of heroes yesterday kindare-ignited the Dota spark

Tried Ferrari The Race Experience - loved it so far, better than V8 Superstars ( needs to complete the champ on hardest again ) that I also have. Will play NASCAR The Game 2011 and FIFA 13 soon, while still playing Mass Effect Trilogy, Gundam Battle Operation F2P, Gundam Senki 0093, Spartacus Legend F2P, GT5, Fallout 3 GOTY, Battlefield BC2, Mortal Kombat Komplete, SEGA RALLY Online, Daytona USA, Wipeout Fury, Hustle King, Dead Nation ... and so many other games I that I have to complete again :( Might have to manage my free time everyday, 1 hour each for the next few months

With mah new PS3 in mah house, been playing some Grid 2. Also having to start over on F1 2012 but considering I didn't get far to begin with, it won't be that hard.

I've been on a Pokemon kick recently...I've been playing fan-made games like Pokemon Fusion Generations (great) and PokeMMO (awful, but it looks nice and it is indeed an actual MMO). In fact, I've been playing them less and less as I begin to design my own Pokemon-style game (one of many game designs I have floating around) that I hope to actually make eventually.

Before the Pokemon kick I was playing the new GT Academy for a bit, Victory: Age of Racing, Minecraft (with mods), and Need for Speed Most Wanted (PS3). Infamous came on the hard drive of the PS3 and I had never played it but I finally decided to try it (while waiting for GT Academy to download) and I spent a few days basically doing nothing but playing that. Fun game.

^I actually tried PokeMMO. I was so accustomed to the solo journey in classic Pokemon, I didn't know what to do with all the other real people around.

Continued GT2 again and man is it hard to drive! :ouch:

I lost/restarted a couple of races and finally resorted to a Skyline for the win. :sly:

Grinded 2 million and bought the OP Escudo so I'm all good now. Time to whoop some ass! ;)

Started on GT Academy. Having difficulty trying to get the wheel to work with it.

Will be starting on Tekken Tag Tournament 2 as well as likely check out this F2P Tekken that's out and see what that's all about.

Hopefully, my wheel will work with that Winged Sprint Cars game. With far better throttle control, I could actually play that game without crashing so much

Playing Dark Souls, w/ the Prepare to Die DLC (360). I bought this game the day it came out, but never really touched it until yesterday...

Now I regret all the time I wasted not playing it. Seriously.

I'm playing GT5 for PS3 right now while I play Fate/EXTRA CCC for PSP. I hope some of you guys know that game (Fate/EXTRA CCC) because I might appreciate talking about it here or elsewhere.

I've been on a Pokemon kick recently...

Absolutely the same here too.

I actually went and worked through Black 2, for my first time ever. Had only ever played up to 2nd gym at best, so I went through the whole game this time. Have since done next to all I could do on one cartridge in post-game (sans stuff like Black Tower), that is to say without extras from White 2.

Planning on starting Touhou Puppet Play today. Because I will never beat an actual Touhou game. Uguu...

Before this I had gone and gotten back into the Tecmo Super Bowl series, which incidentally is the best sports game series in history.

On a GTA crawl at the moment, getting through IV, and will go for III, Vice City or San Andreas next.

I decided the other day (Thursday) to pick up Dead Space 2 after a friend of mine showed me DS3, I finished it about five minutes ago. It's not the best game ever but I think it's nicely produced, technically solid (no crashes, glitches or weird issues beyond v-sync not fixing screen tearing) and quite fun so I'm glad I got round to playing it. I'm not sure I'll bother with a second round but I'll definitely pick up DS3 when I find it at a reasonable price.

I've been playing GT5 single player, just trying out my cars and getting tunes from this site then racing them round tracks. 👍

Also, been playing GTA IV online with one of my friends also playing the story. Just to finish my day I have been playing COD MW3, I don't use my mic for obvious reasons.

Right now, I have been playing Bayonetta. It's pretty underrated if you ask me.
Very underrated indeed.

I'm not sure if it's the approach of the PS4 but I've been going back and playing through a few favourite old games lately: FC2; Killzone; Fuel; DiRT; The Last Guy plus the Ratchet & Clank HD games. I have started up on Infamous now, but keep getting distracted back to the older games.
