I really don't care what people put on facebook, I just ignore the bitching whiners. What grinds my gears? Headaches and being tired.

What grinds my gears......... #287

China Telecom. I am going to slap those plebs into next Sunday when I get home and pay a visit to their shop.

My PS3 keeps dropping the connection while in server mode which means my RR championship is making slow progress. It's been happening for weeks!

What if, for example, I'm away from home working using a remote desktop app on my phone and need some important files? I'd be screwed because of their shoddy service.

It's a good job TB made me laugh about a dog or I'd be in a really bad mood.

First project assignment due in just over 2 weeks, presentation in less than 2 weeks. My project idea got rejected again yesterday (as I told them it would be 3 weeks ago), so I'm in deep water with this one. Try to set up a meeting, and apparently the first chance is Monday so there goes the first of my weeks trying to pull the rabbit from the hat!

Everyone else has made some real progress already, and all I want to do is be given the chance to do the same. Instead I'm going from pillar to post with no progress being made at all. 1 step forwards results in 2 steps back and a kick in the teeth.

The fact that I have been given 11 pieces of homework to do this week, all of which I'm going to rush, and not learn anything at all.

If you have time to post here, you have time to do a better job on your homework.

Homework isn't about learning really. It's about getting used to taking your work home with you. If you do your homework and get a good grade, you may get a good job that requires you do work after office hours.

That's my theory at least.

Supposedly, homework isn't about learning as you've already covered the learning within class time. The problem is that an hour - an hour and a half of learning something doesn't always work. Longest average attention span is 55 minutes apparently. So you do homework to make sure you are repeating the learnt topics again and catching things missed before or just embedding to memory via repetition.

In reality, it doesn't follow this at all. Its either:
  1. Evil teacher
  2. Lazy teacher, doesn't have to teach homework
  3. An extension of class time, teach for entire lesson and let students practice themselves via homework (see Item 1)
  4. Homework for fun (see Item 1)
  5. Practice of time management - no one standing over you telling you to work so you must self discipline

Our college course is based around the last point and the fact that most people on it are employed. We do have 1 person who will bust our balls for 90 minutes, struggling to take in the amount of information fired our way and then gives us 3 times the homework as well having run 10 minutes over lesson time AND the assignment itself to complete. I don't attend any of his classes anymore as a result, complete slave driver.

That be me. It's the only reason I give homework. I'd rather my students slave away doing random crosswords than playing CS and coming into class the next day proclaiming "HEAD SHOT!" and "TRIPLE KILL!"

Car companies are grinding my gears. Specifically, the ones that claim records without beating the car that holds the record so far.

When I'm walking behind someone who's on their phone. As they begin reading a text they just received, they gradually start walking slower and slower, until I just have to get around them.

I unfortunately have to walk slower when texting...It's like I can't walk and text at the same time...

Anyway, people who stand by the doors in public transit vehicles and aren't getting off in the next 5 stops or whatnot....

My mum. She's become unreliable on her old age.
Good example was today: everyone in our house has come down with a really bad cold and the baby has bronchiolitis. So we aren't well.My mum text me this morning and said "How are all you lot doing, if you two need some time to get some sleep or anything, we can drop everything and look after the baby. So I text back and said "actually, <mrs. ScouserInExile> needs to go the dentist tonight and I'm probably going to be stuck in a meeting until late. Can you spare ten minute at 5ish to look after the baby?"

The reply?

"Sorry, we're going shopping today, so probably won't be back in time"

What happened to "we'll drop everything"?

Teachers who can't keep a track of time. Missed 5 minutes of lunch and almost missed my school bus due to teachers that hear the bell ring and go ' Oh blimey, I better set you homework. Right, let's see... Page... __ question... Hmm, actually, page __ and question... 2,3 and 4.'

I failed the first 3 quarters of math in 7th grade because of a mean teacher. Switched to another math teacher, got a 90 ;) This teacher was crazy and I had to switch out of her class, and she eventually left

+1. Same thing happened to me. Everybody and I mean everybody in the 7th grade including me failed math because my math teacher never teached us anything and never collected homework. She was really fat and lazy :P Even my smart friends failed too.

This teacher would yell at us, and be nice to the good grade kids, and like only pay attention to them and pamper them sort of :(

If I was in your situation, I would of cursed her out. I onced out-smarted my art teacher and written me up for being "disruptive". But I won the case.

OMFG.

It's the GT5 section that grinds my gears. The stupidity is strong over on that side.

Sony. I STILL can't sign in to PSN despite having all of the correct settings. Nobody at their tech support can help me, nobody from my ISP tech support can help me, and nothing seems to fix it.

I'm not letting this drop though. This is a brilliant age of communication we're living in, with plenty of ways to get a message out.

I'm sure Watchdog would appreciate a word with them since I'm not the only person experiencing this issue.

No really, I can act stupid sometimes but sjeez, it's just wrong.

What really is grinding my gears right now? People.
People who have no respect, people who judge others without spending time to actually know them, arrogant people, people who take enjoyment out of other people's misfortune, people who have lack of manners, people who are not willing to help or support people in need...
And the Most disturbing part of all? We all do it, and it's getting more and more acceptable.

Again... Apple

My iPod that could always play podcasts now can't. Nothing has changed, no new firmware, same podcast, etc...

So basically me, me, me, me, me, me, and me.

And yes we all do it.

Reality TV. And people who watch Reality TV, so the network gets hyped by the quote and puts out even more Reality TV. Come on! It's ruining society.

And spam mails. And the fact that companies can buy and rename property. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca? AOL Arena? Really?

And advertising! Everywhere you go, buy this, get that, now completely new with even more of something you don't really need and you know what? If you buy two you get the third for free!

I want the 80s back!!!

The fact that this will never be made.
