What happened at the end of the Matrix?

The theory about The One being a machine is quite possible, but it still give us the opposite theory:

MAYBE Agent Smith is a human.



If he is this would explain why he is a blip, a mistake in a similar way that Neo is.

But then again, how does the young woman that Neo loves (forgotten her name) fit into this.
How is it that she battled alongside Neo and helped him beat the machines in The Matrix?

HELP?

PS when is the Matrix reloaded two out?

Remember towards the beggining, where the 2 guys were in the room, and only one went through the phone. Than, the agents broke in, killed the one guy left, the phone rang, and he went through it.

He's the guy that cut his hand, and say "bye" to Neo or whatever.

He's also the guy at the end, the guy lieing next to Neo. The one that caused the "explosion"

Actually, SiGNAL, if you had played the "Enter The Matrix" you would have seen that wasn't what happened.

I highly suggest renting that game over the weekend, download the cheat codes and zip through it to watch the additional footage not included in the movies.

I've only seen Matrix reloaded once and at the end of the movie I was under the impression that the machines had reached Zion, destroyed it, and all that was left was that one ship and those few people. Am I completely wrong? should I go watch it again?

Man, all this talk is making want to go out and buy the DVDs. I think I'll do that tomorrow.

Anyway, here's what I initially thought until someone kind of went against the theory:
There have been more than one matrix made. Maybe we can say that this current one is Matrix 5.0beta (is it 4th 5th? whatever). One theory could place all the matrices on top of each other, like patches that needs a restart of the system (think of getting upgrades on AIM or DivX). When exiting the current matrix, you are still in the last beta model. You can exit all the way to the real REAL WORLD by exiting the same number of times as the number of matrices. Since Zion is the only city left that is inhabitable, you can find no hard lines connecting to the more real world. As Zion is restarted, the patch is used and the "game" is reset. New players, new ONE (because the ONE is the founder of the new beta matrix model and it looks like Zion has been up and running for a while--very advanced).

I hate that theory, but it seems plausible. I have a few questions of my own, maybe someone can quickly answer:

• Is Neo always the One (notice they are anagrams of each other)? I mean, is he the One in every matrix? (I doubt this because of what he has to do at the end.)
• For those who have seen the Animatrix, can you explain what happened to the guy that was running track?
• When Persephone kisses _____ in Enter the Matrix, who else here thought that was hot?

There is so much to say about this dang movie. Keep this thread alive.

I think it showed that the matrix isn't perfect and that you don't need to know the the world is fake in order to do the imposible.

Hey thats a good point! maybee the runner and neo both did the impossible by sheer will. What make me think this is possible is that at the end of the race the runner collapsed, similarly to the way neo collapsed after stopping the machines. Later the runner reawakened and was in a wheelchair but defyed the matrix once again. Maybe in a similar way neo will "awake" to find that his adventures in the matrix and zion were some kind of hallucination but then defy the matrix by once again by refusing to accept that fact and resume his duties as the one.

That makes total sense skylineGTR_guy, especially with the collapsing thing. I almost didn't see that parallel. Finally that part of the Animatrix plays a bigger part in the whole plot. Unless we're totally off, but I doubt it. Now about those other Animatrix shorts...?

Well, I rewatched all of Animatrix and the special part of the DVD where they talk about the making of it. The cat one, "Beyond" I think it was called, was just about a girl experiencing how rules are bent in the real world, but she's not as curious as Neo or anyone unplugged from the Matrix. She just plays around with the messed up things. So basically it was just a different point of view about the weirdness of bending/breaking rules.

I also rewatched the first Matrix. I wonder if there is any connection or if it's just coincidence, but when Neo first started training, Tank commented to Morpheus:

Ten hours straight. He's a machine.

Anyone think this could have something to do with the end of Reloaded?

Oh. I finally remember why I came back to this thread for. I wanted to see if anyone has tried connecting the end of the first Matrix to the rest of the trilogy.

Neo was talking on the phone to somebody at the end of the Matrix. Maybe this person could be Smith, or maybe not. I just wanted to know if anybody knew who it could be.

I think he was talking to the matrix in general kinda like a warning telling them that he is gonna free everyone and destroy the matrix.

Hahaha I never thought of that ten hours straight thing......it could be an inference into the matrix or we could just be looking too deeply now.

That's kind of what I thought. The first time I saw it, I thought he was just talking to the audience as a narrator, but watching it for a 3rd and 4th time, he did connect to someone or something based on that black/green screen thingy. Then the matrix stopped with "System Failure" on the screen, as if the "tracing" program was halted. I guess it could be just anything. I'll watch it again to see if he mentions any clues.
