I think that the most activity that will possibly go around is that someone changing their desktop. But I forgot to mention that I changed the skin of Firefox to an Umbrella skin

Just moved to Italy and had my computer set up quite quickly when I arrived!! Went at it properly today and set up nice and neet, also installed a PSU that did not sound like a jet engine, still a little noisy as is only a cheap thing but allot better than before.

Will be installing windows 7 on the laptop when the G'friend has her hands off of it!!

Yesterday I sent my NES PC motherboard in for replacement since the bios went out. About a month ago I replaced the NES PC's hard drive since it was getting a lot of bad sectors and I just don't want to play around with the risk of the hard drive failing. Today I cleaned my laptop's monitor of dust and got rid of some nasty marks.

Reformatted pc. got a new 1tb western digital hdd. took sidefan off, but havent bothered w/ cleaning out dust yet.

Tried the vacuum cleaner?👍

I dropped my Mac-book Pro (over $2000 of machinery:crazy:) from about 4 feet (:scared:) and it still lives on. :sly:

My friend's friends spilled soda on his MBP. It cost them $1600 to get it fixed. Feel lucky, my friend.

I've installed Opera for Mac, it's way faster than Firefox and runs Flash/HTML5 video using much less power, therefore less heat than any other browser I've tried. I highly recommend it.

So how much did it cost (est.) in the end? Sounds awesome.

Whole thing cost ~$950 initially. Then I got a 70$ Fan controller, so just over a grand. Pretty good price for a machine that will almost play anything max specs. And like I said, I'll buy another 5770 but even then it's just over $1100. Thinking about monitors now, but will probably wait to see what ATI does on the 3D scene, even though it'll probably suck, at the very least it should bring the price of non-3D monitors down.

Yesterday I ran boot and nuke on a few IBM's in my IT class. Today I got the drivers installed and got Windows XP service pack 3 installed on one IBM. Tomorrow I will be installing programs on the IBM my class will need. After that we plan on ghosting the IBM and installing an exact copy on the other IBM's.

Waiting for server maintenance to finish on one of my games, gah! It's taking so long!!

This isn't really what I've done today, so much as what I've been trying to do. Does anyone know of a program which emulates a webcam feed?

This has to be recognizable in the Windows OS, and not a proprietary program or service which will broadcast for you. So far, I've had no luck.

Edit:

I downloaded "ManyCam", and now I'm pranking Chatroulette users.

My PC's cooling system was failing so I replaced all the fans with Enermax Cluster fans. They have white LED's in them but I just turned them off because I didn't want to deal with my PC looking like a flying saucer. I put in two 120mm fans an one 80mm one. I think I might put in one more 80mm fan too.

Really decreased the noise too. Hopefully now I won't have overheating issues.

Couple of recent purchases. (Next will be a better camera....)

Picked up an LG E2340 LED Monitor. It's pretty sweet. Awesome blacks and colours, heaps more vibrant then any other monitor I've had. Costs a little bit more than a standard equivalent LCD (Like 20%) but worth it in my opinion.

Got a Microsoft Sidewinder X4 as my old keyboard was getting some ghosting on Dragon Age. Again, great keyboard for the price. Backlit and Macro Keys/Profiles, ability to press 26 keys simultaneously, all for around a third of the price of the G19. Score.

Lastly I got some Zalman 5.1 Channel Headphones. I wanted some decent headphones so I can keep playing well into the night without girlfriend and neighbour complaints, but I didn't want a headset with a microphone as it's just something I don't need (I have a standalone somewhere anyway). The Zalman's are awesome, and they don't fully reproduce surround, they have enough direction to accurately hear things behind you. They also have a surprising amount of bass, and cause they are closed ear they're also pretty immersive. They're also a older model so you can find them for peanuts.

Right now I am in the process of reinstalling Windows and everything else on my desktop. It decided to get stuck in an infinite reboot loop yesterday and I couldn't fix it without having to wipe it. It's going to take weeks to get it back to how I had it. I don't even remember half the little add-ons and things I had installed and I forgot to back them up.

I disable system restore because it's just a waste of space and processing power. And I *JUST* deleted my drive image because I added new software and removed some old stuff. It's just a pain to redo everything, but at least it cleared up the tiny non-threatening problems I had been having. Going to make sure I create a backup as soon as I get everything back on it.

Really? It looks like it would come in handy for you right now... :sly:

In the XP era with P4 processors I used to disable system restore too. But now with multi-core processors, 4GB or more of RAM and terabytes of hard drive you hardly even notice any difference if it's enabled or not.

Well this comp is a P4 Prescott, 3gb of RAM, and it's XP Pro. 32bit FTW! I might have even found out what caused the error. I was getting hang-ups during Malwarebytes full scan so I ran a few system check utilities. I think they set my IDE system driver back to a Windows default and I lost AHCI ability. I get the same reboot cycle if I enable AHCI in BIOS even with this fresh install. A simple bios tweak would have probably saved me a ton of hassle. C'est la vie. I had a lot of older progs I didn't use and had contemplated doing a full cleaning.

I dropped my gaming computer off at Heathers brothers house. He does quite a bit of work on PCs and I just dont have any idea what is wrong with mine. When I turn it on sometimes it wont turn on. Some little red light just flashes in the back. BUt if I tap the side then it turns on. It also freezes sometimes and again, a tap on the side of it gets it going again. I am guessing something is ground out or isnt ground properly. :dunce:

To practice for when I get my new computer, and to tune my current computer up, I switched cases and PSU. Which technically meant I built a computer, after I removed the CPU and replaced it again to see how it works.. now I have one functional computer until I buy thermal Paste on Monday.

I cut myself on a prongy thing sticking out of this old motherboard I found. It's useless, nothing fits on it.
