Athlon II X2 250
2gb RAM
HD4650 (for some hot tf2 actions on a big screen)

going to use one of my many unused hard drives for storage, and stream over the network.

does anyone know how well 720P/1080P content streams over wireless? am I pretty much forced into wiring this rental duplex if I want to do that?

You can do it with a decent N connection (1080P). G depends on the Bitrate of the stream.

I do 720P over G and through a wall and it's fine.

Just spent the whole of the evening so far clearing out my hardrive of my redundant programs and files. I tent to download a program (Blender for example) and be intrested in it for a little while then sort of forget and not bother anymore. So I have now cleared them all out and have a full 450gb free. :)

Just found out what thermal paste feels like the naive way.

Yeah I kinda accidentally took out my fan, heat sink, and CPU from my laptop. Still it was nice to see I really did have an intel and nvidia chips. (Not sure what the third one was though?)

Just fixed my NES-PC blu-ray drive problems(bad sata cable) and installed Windows 7 and all of the drivers I needed. The new SSD drive is just wonderful! Shutdowns only take 10 seconds and programs only take a minute or under that to install.

^^^^^^^^^^^^
I hate gimp. I got it on my mac and its just like ...... AWFUL!.
Does it work for you?? 'Cause it sure doesn't for me.

I finally got Fraps :dopey: Been tinkering around with it and seeing how to use it, now my NR2003 series will be broadcasted :D

Also, I was fiddling around the house when I found a Roxio Video Capture USB. What I'd like to know is if anyone has this and if they do, is it possible to do direct video captures from the PS3? I've been looking for instructions on how to do it and some of the ones I found have shown me some expensive equipment I must get but if I'm able to do video capturing with this, then I can finally start capturing gameplay footage without spending a penny :)

I have disabled ie8 as it just get on my nerves. I have also got rid of some viruses that were lurking on my computers. All in the name of good security.

Something I haven't actually done yet, but am seriously considering - giving my i5 750 a mild OC to around 3GHz (2.72 under XMP, default 2.66). Stock cooling, so I'm not going to try and push it much beyond that (3.2 max, most likely - I'm aware the CPU is good for 4).

Just need to work out the BCLK etc so that I don't end up adjusting my RAM settings, because with the RAM I have (2x Corsair XMS3 1600C7s) if you don't have 8-7-8-20 (or something) at 800MHz under XMP, it blows up in your face

Cleaned my keyboard, 2 hours it took...was disgusting, not even the airgun got rid of everything!

You may remember a couple weeks ago when I had to reinstall Windows after an unexpected problem. Today I took a step in saving myself should it happen again: I created a backup!

Blew dust out of my case, and tried to lower various voltages while still being stabled @ 3.8ghz w/ my i7 920 :)

Gave my i5 750 the mild OC that I was considering just up there ^

Did it the cheap way by just changing the CPU multiplier from 17x to 19x  End result an increase from 2.72 under XMP to 3.04 :)

Seems like a chip on the family computer motherboard has fried after it froze up. Now you can't left-click with the mouse. It would be a very compilited matter to just do normal use of the computer so I'm waiting for my parent's derision. We might just replace the parts, build an entire new computer, or buy a new one.

Changed my laptop RAM from 2x 512 to 2x 1GB. One of the settings went from 1T to 2T, but the performance hit shouldn't be too bad.

Woke up to notice the PC had rebooted into an old installation of Ubuntu, spent some time updating it, it seems much easier to use that the last time I used it

Ubuntu 10.04* just spent some time messing with widgets and docks mainly.

Chris.

Are sure that it's 4.10? If so then that OS about six years old. The latest is 10.04 if you did not know.

Whoops, got the numbers mixed around backwards then, I did have 4.10 at one point (I think that's the one my video drivers stopped working so I had to install them without a monitor), it is 10.04.

I've installed rFactor :D Now I'm trying to figure out how to maximize my computer's graphics for good detail, but at the same time maintain 30 frames per second.

Just built my parent's new computer today and it works great compared to the old Compaq. Now I have to figure what OS to use it with. I think I might just keep Windows 7 on it since it supports all of the software you would want.

I ended up using Ubuntu Linux on it. It's good for my parents since they won't have to worry about viruses. They are also used to using Linux after 1 to 2 years of experance. It's all my father wants, a computer that will last for years on and on. All I need to do now is get a good usb mouse and an adapter for the card reader(case has no 2.5" external bay).
