This is the only enjoyable grind in the game. IMO the 4hr Nurburgring is the best event in the Endurance series, so do grind it and use different cars. Sadly I have nothing to add to the thread as the car I used, and the cars I plan to use have already been mentioned. But I will look into my garage for something different.

BTW: Nice thread.

Yeah i love it, and man 27 laps go by so quick doing this thing!

I loved this endurance event
Did it with m3 gtr race car, and i enjoyed every minute of it
After this event i love the track, and car i drove even more :)
I will do it again with some other car again for sure

I won by 3-4 mins, with pitting every 4 laps, on race soft tires, only car that was decent following me was amuse s2000, lap time 8.30-9.0 mins

I used this as a chance to get good with the FGT. I was having trouble with the FGT championship but after running one for 4 hours I won the FGT champ easily.

I won the 4 hours at Nurburgring by 4 laps in it. Plan on trying it again in a more enjoyable car. I really dont like the fgt but I am pretty good with it now.

I think I'm going to do it in a stock Enzo because I really enjoy driving it. If that doesn't work I'll hop in to my reserved Falken GT-R race car, which I bought after reading this thread.

Subaru Cusco Advan Impeza 03. Make sure you get the R8 LMS in the field for a real battle for all 28 laps (I did 28 - 5 lap stints) Keept the HP to less than 350 for a challenge and run Race mediums.

If the R8 isn't in the field go with the BMW M3 GTR and Race Mediums at around 350-380hp. (not the racecar the stocker) If the RUF CTR2 and Nismo Z-tuned 350 is in the field its great fun.

Right now I have built and tested a Spyker C8 to run on Race Hards at about 460hp to compete with the R8 LMS. As soon as I have some free time I'll be running it.

During the GT4 days I used to run this event every weekend I had available just about. With the race in GT5 now set to compete against tuned cars and not stock cars as with GT4, the challenge is more difficult to find a close race. I do wish there were more than only 1 or 2 real competitors in each race. Sometimes there is only 1 rabbit in the field.

Don't limit yourself with only premium cars as the UCD has alot of prospects to make this a good race everytime.

+👍

Yeah I love this one too
Ive done it at least 3 times with diferent cars and will probably do it a few more again. its just a shame that it gives us so few credits

My favorite race so far, by far.

Here are some lap times that should be of use to those choosing a car:

IF the Audi R8 LMS is in the field, you'll need to run laps in 8:30 to win.

IF the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo is in the field, you'll need 8:40s. The AI pit strategy for this car is awful. If they pitted every four laps instead of five, this car would be much tougher to beat. I used the Mercedes Touring Car and won this one...lapping the field.

The next fastest cars I've seen are the S2000 GT1 '04 and the HKS CT230R. These were the two fastest cars when I used the 370Z Tuned GT Academy '08 and ran 8:55s on average and beat the CT230R by 2 minutes. The CT230R passed the S2000 on the last lap to take 2nd. Second place was slowly gaining on me...and if I had pitted on the same schedule as them, if would have been much more interesting. But with the timing of the race and pit stops, I short pitted a couple of times...which built my lead.
It makes me wonder how it would have finished if CT230R had started first and taken off and not have to pass everyone. It takes the AI a long, long time to pass, so if you want a good/great race, make sure the fast cars start up front...otherwise you'll be up 5 minutes on the field before the 1st pit stop, if you aren't careful.

Pitting every 5 laps is what the AI does, regardless of time, btw.

did it just the other day in a Elise 111R RM, 27 laps, won by 4 minutes, got a Audi R8 LMS (sweat ride). I recently found out how easy the Veyron is to drive with the DFGT, so I think I'll do it next in that, I can stretch tire wear out for three, instead of two laps, using TCS 5 and ABS 8, and still keep it under the 9 minute times.

Now thats and interesting tip... So much concern with aids slowing me down I never thought about the benefits of conservation... And with the DFGT you can change this on the fly so you don't get slowed down in the sweepers...

Me too, just picked it up but yet to drive it... I got it because of reading this thread too...

Ive been monitoring and posting in this thread for a while but yet to see any cars that are legitimate killers for this race. What cars do you think will legitimately kill the race as in have you 1-2 laps ahead of the competition or even more.

any LM car,FGT,x1

on my next runs i plan to take Nissan GT-R Falken☆ Race Car '04, Subaru Cusco Advan Impeza 03, Autobacs Arta Garaiya '08

GinoLicious, I lapped the field once with the Mercedes 190 Touring Car. 2nd was the Premium S2000 GT1. It wouldn't take too much of a really fast rececar to do it.

Currently Im trying the race with the Nissan GTR LM Concept. I have a few questions... Is this a good car to win the race with? Also I noticed when using it the first time before restarting, after my 3rd lap i needed tires. Instead of pitting I kept driving which was a big mistake just spinning out everywhere.

In my competition was teh LFA at CTR2200 or what ever it is called. These guys seem to always stay with me for the majority of the race. Certain spots I get a nice lead on them and then other times I can see them on the map. I'm kinda scared to pit if these guys are right up behind me cause then this will give them the lead for sure and make it more difficult for me to catch up after the pit is complete.

Edit: I mean to say the Nismo 380RS Super Leggera and not the LFA

I'm torn between the McLaren F1 road car and the Zonda R. Oh well I guess I'll just do it twice and use both cars.

I just won this race last night, I used the car you get for golding the AMG test on the ring, seemed like a good pick and I never drove it since I won it. Washed it, oil change, rims, aero kit, and used the same tir as the AI which is racing mediums. The car was a lot better then the rest of the car but that dang R8 LMS Race car, I was kinga worried when I loaded the race and he was in the grid.
But that was the best race I ever had on this game so far, I have to pit every 4 laps and so did the R8. I never got more then 12 seconds ahead of him, and I had a bad crash and he got the lead for a bit but never got more then 10 seconds on me, ended up winning this race. I was ahead by 9 seconds before the finish, once I won it said the R8 was a lap down, but yea won by 9.xxx seconds, what a race, we both did 28 laps

The tip to use the Formula Gran Turismo for practice time is a good one.

The '66 Cobra 427 would be an amazing choice IF you have a good tune for it an can drive it.

Got it done with an A4. Almost had a heart attack coming across the finish line. Looked up for a second it said i was 3/12. Yet no body had passed me. As i crossed the line it went right back up to first. Almost **** myself.

Haven't done the 4 hour in gt5 yet, but I remembered enjoying it in gt4. I won the race in gt4 using the Audi a4 touring car (souped up a little bit if I can remember). It wasn't the fastest car, but was much kinder on it's tyres than others.

Of course, that was on the nordschleife... Dunno if it would have went the same way on the nurburgring spec v but it was a really enjoyable experience.

Yeah i love it, and man 27 laps go by so quick doing this thing!

Gonna have to try it this weekend. I'm thinking the McLaren F1, I love that car. Might be too fast to maybe the C63 AMG, or the BMW M5. Or the stock Enzo on Sport Hard if I want a workout. That car is fun but twitchy.

Race cars:
Alfa 155 V6TI, plenty of power, 4WD, history of Nurburgring races in DTM and kick ass livery. Style.

Most Rally cars perform exceptionally well on the Ring, its likea big tarmac rally really, i recommend Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 1(not the EvoII which eats tires like soggy oreos). Rally cars on the ring are underrated.

Most GT300 cars, notably the Garaiya, super lightweight and MR!

Street Cars:
NISMO R32, balanced powerful discreet.
NSX-R 3rd Gen. Lovely sound, looks killer, drives like a racer.

I did a few laps of the 4 hour a couple of days ago. I didnt have much time and just wanted to see what the competition was like. I broke out the modded Cusco, and at the end of the second lap, I was already 30 seconds ahead.

My choice was the Sauber due to not wanting to lose but not wanting to destroy the competition. Won by 4 laps which is crushing but not destroying

have it paused at 1,5 hours right now! You probably won't believe it but I am only 6 seconds behind the leader (Spoon S2000 GT1). I'm driving to my full capabilities non stop and now I really need a break lol. We both just did a pit stop and man I'm seriously having a blast, as I have took the PERFECT car and settings for my skill level.

I'm driving the F430 Scuderia, stock weight (1350 KG) and only minor upgrades (ECU, Air Filter, Exhaust) totalling at 540HP. I do have all the aero upgrades since I am driving on Sports Medium tires :scared:

Really have to give it my best to win this, as the opponent cars have less weight and much more power, they own me on the straights! The only difference is that I have balls of steel in the high speed corners, and the AI does not :trouble:

If I lose it in the end, I can always switch to racing softs in the last 30 minutes :P

I just won it using a stock Autobacs Garaiya with no aids on except ABS=1...fun car to drive...actually, REALLY fun car to drive, but it ended up smoking the competition--even the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo. I never lapped him, but I think I finished like, 4 minutes in front or something. At lap 4, I was in second place about 30 seconds behind him, but as soon as he started pitting I made off with the lead and never saw him again. I was doing pits every 6 or 7 laps on racing hards and ended up doing 28 laps total. Fastest lap was 8:24, averaging in the 8:30's.

Moral of the story: the AI just does not push the cars they're driving. Next time I do the race, I'm going to try a sub-300HP car to see if it's a little more competitive.

Watch out for the Audi LMS if it's in the race, you'll need times around 8:25-8:30.

In the sub 300 hp category, the Elise 96 works like a charm 👍
