What is the latest version of Gran Turismo? And how can we tell?

Can we tell by looking at the box? Does it specifically say 'version x.x'? Or do we need to look at the unique game numbers?

As far as i'm aware, nothing will tell you what version you have unless they specifically made a new boxart for it. The SCxA is the same and such. The only way I know how to tell them apart is by looking at the dates of the files that are on the disc.

I believe that all Greatest Hits copies are v1.1, but not all previous copies are v1.0. The change was introduced before the GH switchover.

There's also a second PAL version - some of the Platinum discs have EDC error-checking enabled. The game data is identical though.

What are the differences between the USA V1.0 and V1.1? And the PAL EDC and non-EDC?

I don't know exactly, but from comparing the files I can see the following:
The del Sol LM Edition logo has the CR-X part removed.
Some car stats are tweaked.
Some suspension settings are tweaked.
Two menu pages are modified.
Seven tracks are modified.
The executables are modified.
SYSTEM.DAT is modified.

For the PAL EDC version, just Google PS1 EDC.

The EDC involving only PAL games? I've never seen a non-PAL game with EDC or noEDC
