what is this COP at 75 or 80mph online all about?

I've joined a few rooms and driven cars that I wouldn't have otherwise driven in my garage (3.2 Acura CL-S, Honda Accord Coupe, etc)

Or I'll whip out my GT-R Pace car and chase people around. It's fun because usually when I'm online, I just wanna find something to do with my cars that isn't necessarily racing (since racing can stress me out).

Me too, I sometimes just like cruising around trying out different cars to feel what they're like away from, close to and beyond the limit. Doing this online adds a new dimension, especially in one of those "cruise" type rooms (not been in a "COP" room before, though). Knowing that traffic can come the other way (and often does) on a Toscana custom course adds to the enjoyment at times.

You have to get them when the idiots aren't around, though, as it really does go downhill quickly, with people just doing drag races on the main straight and generally getting in the way. Saying that, I accidentally invoked the pit glitch once, and subsequently had Bob terrorise other drivers for a full lap. :ouch:

does anyone know a good host who's doing this kind of stuff. I'd like to try it out but don't like idea of mindless ramming.

What is this I dont even

Over-dramatization For the lose!

Basically, you go online and follow normal traffic rules like IRL, and follow a speed limit etc. You can run from the cops and if you get hit 3 times you pull over, and they give you a fake ticket. If you do it repeatedly, some rooms will kick you, others won't. Some rooms make up there own rules as they go.

Have these people ever heard of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit? I don't get why this is interesting at all in GT5.

I don't get it either, if you wanna abide by the law you can do that in the real world, and its better than ANY sim ^^, there are even police, if thats your thing ;).

All the cop rooms I've joined have been crap. And when I've started my own I just get a bunch of morons. If you do find a good lobby it can be really fun, but most of them are not "cops rooms," they're "crash the **** outta everybody" rooms. We need to start a cops league on GTP.

I like going on them and drifting in My Esprit Sport 350 and seeing how quick I get kicked.
My Record is 80 seconds.

Yeah, in real life you can chill out by following the rules, then get an adrenaline rush when you break them. Some rooms even have real gunshot noises, and the cops in there will flip your car if you break too many rules. Its so realistic! I think I'll go play right now.

the pace car is so slow in ssr7 compare with wangan cars/rs6 and so on,i can't catch!

If you want to keep up, put the lobby to >600pp - <570pp.

I've gotten ~ 330km/h - 205mph in my Pace car.

I thought cat and mouse sounded like a bunch of mickey-mouse voiced sixteen-year-olds smoking pot and slamming into each other.

And it was. It was exactly that.

But hell, it was fun.

I imagine this is something similar. Bored people doing things to divert their boredom.

If anyone on GTP makes one of theese servers they should put GTP in the tag line or room name so you know theres no stuffing around

How did that happen? I've had a drifter in my room before, and after wrecking him in my supercop Lambo he called me a bunch of names, then he felt my boot. My record is probably like 5 minutes for getting kicked. I guess I'm not that bad online. When I do get kicked and the screen pops saying "You were kicked" I get a forever alone feeling. Weird, right?

I don't see why people don't like this idea. It gives you the chance to drive in a car you wouldn't be able to in real life at regular speeds on a normal road (Toscana Tarmac works great) like you would in real life. Turn off the HUD, go into cockpit view, enjoy yourself.

Maybe speed a little for kicks :sly:

i like to drive a fully modified speed 12 and see how often i can break 200mph, and spin the tyres at 150mph without the cops noticing me.

great fun passing cars at 200mph+

can be alot of fun.

Well i drive my real car at the speed limits and i have a games console for doing the absolute opposite, to break away from reality. What a bizzare idea, personaly i just don't get it. Sounds nearly as ridiculous as grown men getting their kicks from My Little Pony.

Hahahaha (remembers childhood watching MLP). Wait. :grumpy:

Exactly this...I don't own 1000 cars in real life, so this works for me. (although apparently owning one or two cars and being able to drive in "real life" somehow nullifies the ability to test 1000 cars here....)

It's pretty difficult trying not to laugh at all of the people who think the game should be played to their standards. Using idiotic reasoning like, "I can do that in real life, so videogames are solely for what I think they should be for." ...Or the, "I don't do that, so it's stupid", arguments by what I can only assume to be grown people (since this type of thing is so beneath them).

Such a strange idea that people would use a driving simulator for various types of driving!

It's fun on tracks like Toscana where people can (and are able to without ramming each other) drive on both lanes in the opposite directions. It feels like real road cruising.
On SSR11 it would be better with more drivers (like 32 or more), due to the track length.

Yeah, but real life sucks!! I want to go fast!!

Tried it yesterday but got bored quick driving so slow. So I tried speeding to get a chase but the guys in the police cars weren't that good so that wasn't that fun too. So I gave it one more shot and picked the pace car. I don't really know the rules and it looked like everyone was driving slow so I just rammed someone into a wall and said his brake lights didn't work. Turns out it was the host and I got kicked. Seemed like real policework to me.

I think I'll just stay with normal racing :D

👍 for comedy bonus! :p

It's like a lot of things online, if you're not in the right room, it's not going to be fun. These cruise / cop things tend to be better "off-peak", if that makes sense. The idiots tend to stay away at certain times of the day - that probably applies to all rooms, though.

I was just in a 70 mph cop server. Figured i'd try it out. after about 10 minutes of crusing the speed limit 2 'cops' started ramming the **** out of me. I told them i wasnt speeding, went unanswered

yeah, **** this lol

That means run away from the cops, usually if they ram you out of no where they want a pursuit

Each to his own but I hope that I never get bored enough in my lifetime to try this... :yuck:

I'll stick to what Gran Turismo was made for. :)

I sometimes create a room like this and cruise. There are some good hosts out there and these rooms can be a lot of fun.

Yep, like I said, when you find good rooms with guys that know how to play this game "mode" it can be super fun. :dopey:
