what is this COP at 75 or 80mph online all about?

I've been in some rooms that have been good and fun, and then others that are awful (most likely poorly organized).

It can be fun.

Heh, I've just finished reading a blog post about "de-gamification", and the viewpoints in this thread are analogous to those that might arise in a discussion about the game used as an example in that article: "lines and squares". (That is, avoiding the cracks in the pavement.)

Do that in public as an adult and you get the same reaction as some of those in this thread.
However, it's more about the freedom for players to create their own rules (or throw them away completely) and play the game they want; it's about creativity.

Creativity is a very personal thing, so I'm not surprised at the responses.
Pretty much every online league (etc.) falls into the same category of user-enforced rules, though. I know I'm rambling now, but having read the article, I immediately thought of this thread. Just sharing. :)

EDIT: @ Tibbz, look out for speed limits in the room description (e.g. 120 km/h)

Yeah yeah, thats all about creativity... the thing is, Gran Turismo always was more than a racing game or a simulator, the whole concept of buying, selling cars, looking for the rare ones @ the used dealers, etc... makes us want to act a bit like in real life. And when some purists are scared about such things as free roam on GT games, some people would love that because of the possibility to replicate situations that we would like to experience in real life, into the game.

And as GT was always more then a simple car game, that would happen... and, what is so bad in just cruising around and developing our own personal experiences in GT? It has space for this kind of thing. Just look at some tracks, the course generator with mountain/road themes, its all there to be used.

I think, when we do a cop/cruise room, its not about acting as GTA or Need For Speed kind of gaming, its just to replicate a real world road and then we cruise around, from time to time we stretch our car legs a little bit, just like some of us would do in a real car... or you would have an Audi RS4 to go @ 60kmh all the time? Sometimes, everybody need to relax, and stretch the legs (and the car ones too)

That's just my 2 cents about "alternative" and creative game modes... just think about it, its a good example of adaptation in a big game environment such as GT5.

I hope PD keeps adding more and more elements that can be used in different ways. For me, GT always was "The Car Nut Life Simulator", and I'm happy to have it as it is.

And Griffith500, thanks for sharing the article, really interesting stuff 👍

That article was really interesting! Thanks for sharing! :) It really is a shame when you find a room thats good and then people change in to Super GT cars and Toyota Minoltas and it all goes down hill from there as much as i love these rooms i just leave when it all becomes stupid...

So true.

We gotta create the GTPGCA.

GT Planet Good Cruisers Association. :sly:

Maybe create a weekly league, with a point system, like 1 for posting fastest lap, for being the one didn't have a single pursuit, to the one who didn't got busted, who stayed the most time being pursued (during the whole day and in one try). Something like that

Well... we can talk about cruise lobbies running, who prefer to be a cop/cruiser/racer/ambulance (lol), etc... share cruise tracks (made in course generatior) and talk about some hints and basic information for those interested in join.

Also: one thing GT6 needs is available police lighting in a variety of era-appropriate styles for each car (I saw a video of someone drag racing a Crown Vic P71 with a lightbar so they can use that to legitimatize it). That + free roam = instant cool. There are a ton of games out there with car chases (NFS for example) but so far none has really had realistic physics the way GT has realsitic physics.

Also, as to a cruise lounge club: What say we adopt an anti-brony policy?

Count me in! As I stated previously, I cruise with friends, so I know some good rules, and have a couple of ideas. And yeah, I agree, no bronies, they're creepy.

Cool, it would be nice if we start making a list of the modes/rules/ideas for these kind of rooms, like I said, in the room I played some other night we even had ambulances... it was funny.

Instead of cruising around a race track at 60 km/h I think it would be great if there was either as DLC or as a separate disc to add on with an entire open city to cruise around in, but no AI traffic.. just all online players.

That said it would be really weird with 16 cars driving around an entire city.

As long as we're on the subject, some of them can be pretty smug too. And other things, depending on the particular brony. I'm not naming any names because at least two moderators are bronies.

Also, 1,137th post is bashing bronies. That obviously means I'm right.
