What view do you race in?

Roof (aka hood/bonnet view) cam pretty much always, it just feels like it has the best all around view for me. I've tried bumper cam too, but for some reason it feels weird for me to be so close to the ground on that one, it also tends to shake a lot more than the roof cam, having a mirror is definitely a plus though.

In the older GT games where I still used a controller, I used the chase cam. I still use this view to watch TT replays to check if they're valid or not, and for some reason everything seems much slower when using the chase cam.

And as a sidenote 95% of my GT playing is doing time trials, so that's one reason why I don't feel, for example, the cockpit view being very optimal.

Cockpit. I want to see I'm driving a different car instead of seeing the same screen all the time
Bumper only if I need to find the last fraction of time I need doing mission/license.
Roof top for Redbull Goodwood. Can't see the narrow road inside the cockpit, and bumper is just too fast
Forget about the chase cam, you'll lose the sense of direction change of your car. When you "see" oversteering it's actually already too late.

Depends upon the car. If its something that doesnt have an interior or is hard to see out of, I use roof cam but I prefer to use cockpit cam because I like to see the shifting and watch the gauges move around.

Cockpit view only - most immersive; unless the spray from other cars makes it impossible to see-then roof cam (sparingly).

Chase cam with DS3, but if I ever do get a wheel then I would probably force myself to slowly try and convert to cockpit view for the realism.

At the moment for me, the external view is the only option that makes any logical sense to use with the sticks because of the similarity it has with an RC car controller, the only difference in this concept is that you don't run around behind your RC car but view it and the whole area you are racing it on from a high vantage point.

Cockpit of course because that's how I drive real cars. I have yet to drive a car sitting on the roof, hovering behind or strapped to the front bumper. Hahaha.

My friends and I walked to the opposite side of the restaurant parking lot and watched as this 57 Chevy pulled into the lot.

He built the motor to about 2,000 HP and used the car for drag racing. Wasn't really street legal, but who was going to stop him? Wasn't painted in anything but the primer grey.

Now back on subject

I used to drive from the outside view in Grand Prix Legends back in 1998 or so until I learned that I could do better if I learned to drive from in the cockpit. Back then I didn't know any of the tracks. But today I could probably draw a map of the Ring so in-cockpit view is where I have spent 95% of my time.

GT Legends here. Heehee. As for the avatar, it's the car from Two Lane Blacktop, also later used in American Graffiti and recently restored.

Yes, you need a wheel. You can build very simple rig for $20.

I try to use the cockpit as it feels the most realistic, but I'm way faster with the roof cam. So when I'm fighting for a fast lap I switch to roof.

Cockpit view with a DS3. I only use bumper cam when I am a a few tenths off of a gold in seasonals.

I use the cockpit in offline races, for realism. I use the roof for the licenses, for better visibility. I use 3rd person for online races, for better visibility.

There are few things worst in an online room than having someone obliviously run you off the track because they don't see you overtaking them.

I insist that people in my online lobby use the bumper cam view.

I almost always use chase cam. I like to see the car and hear the exhaust sound. Sometimes I'll use cockpit view in offline mode for the lawls. (DS3 user)

Cockpit cam all the way. And for those cars with tinted windscreens - I turn off the lights in the room & draw the curtains.👍 (Except for trying to bag the 0.01 trophy, then the chase cam was king!!!)

Cockpit offline. Online races I use bumper since not all cockpits shows rear/side mirror.

You could always just tap L1.

Roof cam because there is no 900° interior wheel rotation...., but I play cockpit view in other games that have 900° interior wheel rotation....

Cockpit because it's what I've used for years with rFactor and iRacing, it's just the most intuitive and easiest for me now even when I use the DS3.

I don't understand how people use chase cam, looks far too arcady for my tastes (reminds me of an old arcade game called Cruisin USA), and it feels like you're a giant pushing one of these around:
