70/100

Gameplay: 20/25
Physics: 20/25
Graphics: 15/25
Longevity: 15/25

I'm only lvl 26 A-Spec and working o b-spec lvl 10, but I've had a blast getting there. But now its at the point where the game is more of a chore then a form of entertainment. Graphics are great, but only to some extent. Minimal damage models are very dissapointing. I want to see my bumper fall off cause I hit the guard rail too hard not a scratch or a dent. Also, the mixed quality of cars is a huge let down. Physics are great but I feel like theres still something missing. Also, I find this game to be almost too long at times, I don't mind the fact that there are up to 24 hr long races, but how about a save and finish later option? Overall I'd give it a B (even tho 70/10 is more like a C+). It has brought some spice to the racing sim market but, for 5+ years in development it definitely needs a tune up. If I was to use an example of poor industry standards in the gaming market, I would use this game. The quality of it is all over the place. As a gamer and a car enthusiast I'd prefer FM3 over GT5, they deliver a balanced gaming experience and achieve to satisfy my enthusiastic needs. I'd also like to note that I haven't played pre 1.05.

I'm still playing it pretty regularly. that's gotta say something. It really is a lot of fun to play. It just lacks the style and groove that we have come to expect from PD. but its still by far the most comprehensive driving experience on the PS3..... once you get past the muck. I give it 95 for physics, but 80 overall.

I could find dozens of criticisms for this game but yet I play it tirelessly everyday, guess if I way to break it down like this:

Driving Experience: 17/20
Track/Car Diversity: 11/20
A-Spec Challenge/Replay: 9/20
B-Spec Challenge/Replay: 4/20
Enjoyment Factor: 15/20

I'd give it a 56/100... but then again I enjoy it, but I feel I could be enjoying it A LOT more than I am...

I'll give 85.
Only if those 1000+ cars is fully premium and some missing new cars are there like Zonda Cinque, Aston Martin Rapide, Merc. SLR SM, Lamborghini Reventon, or Citroen DS3.

I would give it fully 100.
But all and all, i'm glad that this game out before 2011. :)

For what it is and what it claims to be I would give it a 97/100 I have never played a racing game on any console that has been this good. Not once did I ever pick this game up thinking the "game" aspect of it better be as good as final fantasy. This is a driving sim and that's what it says on the damn box!! I really don't think it's fair to judge a game on your false hopes and expectations.

I honestly hope they just take the damn a and b spec out just so people would stop complaining.

I'd agree with you if this was the first GT, but it's not. If they nailed the game design so well in the previous four games in a row, then there's no reason why it should be worse than before. Some of the basic things aren't even right. Not having the ability to save during championships is a glaring example.

50 if not less.
I'm still playing it from time to time tho and trading, but that's a bit not what i've expected after GT2/3/4.
Main complain: there's nothing to do in GT Life mode after maybe 50 - 60 hours of gameplay. Less than 150 a-spec mode races, most of those had 3 - 5 laps.
Absolutely pointless leveling system. I don't really see at least 1 good reason for that. To restrict you from buying overpowered cars for sunday cup?
B-spec mode... ugh, i don't even want to start talking about that again.

And i don't really know, if it were my 1st GT game... maybe i just wouldn't bought a next one.
But because i'm an old fan of GT series, i'll get GT6 anyway, but if it'll be not much different from GT5... i don't know if i'll want to get GT7 after that.

It depends on how I'm playing. When I'm goofing off/racing online with friends, 95%! But, if I'm trying to progress in a-spec or b-spec, it's more like a 50%...The single player is so frustrating anymore...

Exactly. Not to mention that the game design actually detracts from the driving experience.

What GT "claims" to be is becoming a smaller and smaller element of the overall game

I agree, along with your previous post. I don't see how people, especially some of those who claim to be playing since the series began, can defend the absurd design flaws with this game.

It's funny you know, because leading up to release I was defending it like there was no tomorrow. But even as a die hard fan of the series, I cannot defend GT5 as a game.

Yes the driving model is still brilliant but imagine what GT5 could have been with a descent game designed around it. Think full practice and qualifying sessions, proper race series', realistic AI and damage. It could have been amazing.

As it is, im not sure that any amount of DLC can save it. I just hope PD realise this and head in the right direction with GT6

Same here. But now that it's out, I don't blame anyone one bit for not liking it.

But the 1.05 update has shown PD is aware of the design flaws. The Online Dealership, for example, always has cars needed to compete in certain events, and that was a pretty big problem before. Let's just hope we see more updates like this.

Yeah i think there is definitely room for some big improvements. I've said it a million times but an AI patch would improve things dramatically, especially if it included a fix for the ridiculous collision sounds.

That way you could at least enjoy A-spec and arcade races. Then they ccan worry about gradually patching other graphical bugs etc but surely AI has to be a priority. It frustrates me to think that Gran Turismo Anywhere takes precedence over this...

At this point, its a 70. All I play is online (done the A-spec/B-spec except the endurance races) and the occasional seasonal events when they get updated. The game has a lot of content, but its poorly utilized which is a shame. The online needs fixing, I mean the game freezes for so many reasons.

With the Updates they made so far its a "typical" 93 for me ... maybe even 94.

great for fans, but not exelent enough to be praised by all.

50ish, some stuff looks great, majority looks appalling compared to what I was expecting, physics feel silly, all contact feels bouncy n rubbish. Was bored in 3 days!

BUT maybe it will get fun again when I get tired of the pressure of running an iRacing season again!

Overall I'd say 70/100 and that's being generous.

Complaints: Sounds are wonky, interface looks like it was designed by people who make mazes for mice. The grinding is annoying although seasonals help. B-Spec is still not fast forward-able(endurance races?). B-Spec is mandatory. Licenses aren't mandatory(good and bad). Most cars aren't buyable. There aren't enough races. You can't save mid championship (FGT). STILL no replays for 2 player. Unpolished. Personal BGM and racing BGM still don't work properly. The AI has the intelligence of a mildly idiotic pig. Some challenges are either extremely hard or impossible with the Sixaxis/DS3. The AI is incredibly dumb. No expandable arcade (GT3 or GT4 style). Lack of events. Still no mid-race save. No Hybrid A+B/Spec races. Pointless premium cars. Weird prices. Small award amounts. Paint chip concept. Horns exist. Interface is pointless. GT Auto functions cost stupid amounts of money. B-Spec is like watching a horse race...except your horse is drunk. Strange Tyre physics. LOOOOONG Load times. Did I say there wasn't enough events and the AI is still moronic? Why is personal BGM not persistent (GT Auto and Tuning)?

Good: The racing is great when it's challenging (present in all GTs). The physics are quite good. B-Spec is more fully fledged. Seasonal Challenges keeps things fresh(as long as you don't overtune). Online mode is fun once you get past the shoddy interface. Premium cars are geniunely beautiful. The little details are captured excellently (F40's atrocious turbo lag is memorable). Strikingly accurate to RL sometimes. Driving experience is excellent in itself. Inclusion of personal BGM is welcome. More obscure cars. More LMPs. Special Events are quite fun from time to time. Top Gear track(although it was ruined, online it's great). Levelling system gives it a sense of progress, although it limits UCD purchases early on. Weather system and day/night system is amazing. Wet driving is fun.

70/100 overall.

The issue really lays in the design aspect. They have the driving down to a science, that's for sure. Handling models are thus far quite nice, there are still inconsistencies but that's not too glaring. The interface is frustrating to say the least making navigating the game terrible and the races once entered are far too short (especially since load times are atrocious). To make matters worse, there aren't even that many races to start with, making things more of a slap to the face. It's sad though because the where the game has polish, it's blindingly good. But everywhere else seems like a tacked on idea at the last minute, so many ideas that some of the more basic ones were forgotten.

While I admit that the online function is outright fun, it's the sheer fact that the execution was so botched up it grates. The driving by all means is the best I've ever played in a while outside of the hardcore sim. But many things just don't make any logical sense, and that's where GT5 falls on it's face into mediocrity, it simply isn't well designed and lacking in content.

7.5 x 10

The disc has rarely come out of the 'family' PS3.
Wish I could drive some of my old irl cars and see the dash rather than have them as the standard models.

It's still growing on me. It's in the low 90s for me at the moment. I'm still discovering new things to do, and I find myself really looking forward to updates of the seasonal events every week.

75. Awful screen tearing and dodgy framerates, low resolution and low detail on many cars and tracks, Pop up, Rubberbanding and very sterile. Despite the flaws i'm still enjoying the experience. I can't see Gt6 for PS3 being any better if it can't handle GT5.

The day it came out: 80
Today: 90ish

and i hope it keep on getting better with new updates they promised, or hoping to get(b-spec on mobile/pc, new premium cars, event creator)

The thing I have always like about the GT series is that it is tailored to the driving enthusiast, not the gaming enthusiast. Sadly, this is changing.

Odd...considering the majority feels like it is a good driving sim, but a horrible game package.

No crap, considering most of GT5 is high res GT4 (PS2) assets.

Viewpoint excluding previous GT Series or comparison to Forza:
90/100

Viewpoint within GT Series only, current patch version:
65/100
Massive failure with online user interface, hosting options mainly...
Various bugs that are critical, tire wear, screen tearing, sub 30 fps issues, A-spec game balance is an Epic Fail...

What's with the people that lower their scores?
"90, but now 80 because I'm stuck"

I'll give it a 90 all together. Minus 10 because some of the standard cars look terrible and because the game requires a lot of grinding.

High 80's. Which is pretty good for a unfinished game, with updates come pouring in it will eventually be in the 90's. Im happy with that.

played it a lot (i'm 28 a spec, all special event done, all licence done, all seasonal done) the first day i was thinking like 80/100 not it's 55/ 100 really poor game in everything from the graphic to how the career is bad and how the Ai i stupid. In fact this is my last post here, i won't play it anymore.

bye everybody hoping in a decent game next time.
