What would you rate this game on a scale of 1-100?

50 out of 100.

Positives: lots of cars (1000+, although the selection could have been better, do we really need 100 different Skylines or Miata's), driving physics are good for the most part, Premium cars look excellent

Negatives: A-Spec way too short (need more events), AI still sucks, forget B-Spec (have no interest, like watching grass grow), have to grind to get exp and $ (do the same Indy race a million times), have to wait forever to get certain great cars to show up in the UCD, prices on some cars are stoopid (20 million r u kiddin?, forced most people to use bday trick to get those)

After 5-6 years in development, this is the best PD could do??? Fun sometimes, but very disappointing in many respects, too bad, I've been a big fan since GT3 (both GT3 & GT4 were better games, didn't look as pretty, but were more FUN.........)

i really don't care too much now on raising my level, as im a 22 apsec and 23 bpsec, i just enjoy adding to my collection and racing with my friends, but as well small bits of grinding in a spec for the cash, so for me 92, 96 though if it had more premium cars, and some more F1 tracks

It's hard to rate because DLC will make the game even better than it is.

In its current state, I still rate it highly. Somewhere in the high 80s maybe.

Various nitpicky things like the shadowing issues during repalys, the fact that damage isn't as extensive early-on as it should be, the fact that mechanical damage doesn't extend to A-spec races, etc. are detractors for me. Fix all this stuff and I'll award an even 100.

Perhaps 70. I haven't played it in about a week as I am getting bored with A-Spec. My one hope is that a future patch would enhance the on-line portion so that there can be more balanced racing setup in races (such as having an overall point system like GT5P) rather than the sort of random mess it is right now. The current method overemphasizes rewarding those with better cars and tuning options as opposed to just better racing skills. If they can greatly improve the on-line portion the game it would go a long way to getting more replay value back into the game.

GT5 reminds me of when I long awaited the next album by my favorite band as all their prior releases were awesome but when I finally got that album it wasn't very good. I would then listen to that album over and over trying to convince myself otherwise but at some point I would have to concede that it is what it is (and then probably put it on the shelf and never really listen to it again). I am kind of at this point with GT5 unless there are some great new patches that come out shortly.

I don't know that DLC should even be considered in an accurate evaluation of the game..? Just my thoughts...:indiff:

I mean, if we are going to have to wait and rely on DLC, they may as well have shipped empty cases....What's the point of buying a game that has none of what we want, on it....

Solid B - an 85.

I'm really enjoying it but am still eager for more by way of DLC. Can't wait to see what they have planned for it.

Also, I doubt that the DLC will give the game the boost it currently is in serious need of.

85. Regardless of anything else, it is still fun as hell to take your favorite car onto your favorite track, and hotlap until your heart's content.

If they gave us the content that GT4 had as DLC, I can guarantee that's the boost this release needed. DLC and patches is this games' only hope if it wants to continue bringing in money.

Both very valid.
IF, in fact, the DLC was equivalent to ALL that is missing from GT4, then it may stand a chance...Personally, I can not see that happening.
Better chance of seeing it implemented into GT6, but it will be too late by then. :(

DLC is not an option for rating a game. Sorry man but I shouldn't have to pay more than the initial cost of the game. Patches are a different story. I still wouldn't include it in an initial review but it can be noted. I can let patches slide if they hit the consoles immediately after release but if we're talking like 3-6 months later come on.

I dunno. Prologue got some pretty huge stuff done to it with the Spec updates.
That was Prologue, ``an introduction´´ nowhere near finished. We now have a ''final'' game, which most likely will bring us to a completely different outcome.

I can't remember one game I played for 7 weeks straight.. GT5 is the first :)

In terms of cost versus fun/hours of playing this can't be anything else than a 100 for me.

Only The premium Side Of gt5 i'll gave it a 95
overall 65 sorry to much gt4 and so little gt5 to go around
make that
15% GT5
85% GT4
That's a bad day :dopey:

90 for the physics, 40 for A-spec. There's enough more in the total game for me to give it a 78/100.

I'm really pissed off at how short and how bad A-spec is though. The best physics in any GT, and so many awesome premium cars being wasted in A-spec.

We need a "Spec-C" update that gives us an entirely new single player mode where there's about 500 races worth of A-spec type events we can play for a year or two.

I'm at lvl 27 A-spec and 21 B-Spec and I see that the end is near. We need more events. I'll still buy GT6, whatever- I just hope Kaz is hearing everyone's complaints about A-spec and is working on an update to fix it.

GT5 will would be a 90/100 if A-spec was better/longer, like in GT4 even.

I give it 50 as being a fan of racing games I couldn't play this game longer than level 21. It bore me to death with its lone and soulless driving. And when I encountered a couple of events like night Tuscan racing, which are pretty much impossible to gold I lost all desire to go for platinum.

I would give it 100 but the net code could be better,
So I give it 90.

Why?

I love driving, I don't care about getting xp or credits it just comes to me. (level30).

Being part of community GTPL I say possibilities are endless with this sim.
All it takes is organizing yourself and off you go for fame and glory.
I really hope the improve online because for me that's the most important aspect of GT5.

And I love old cars, no other game can satisfy me as GT5 does.
Honestly if you love driving you have to love it.

There is nothing as good on PS3 as GT5. Nothing else come even close.

As I said possibilities are endless

I'm at 28/21, and still having some fun, but not even close to the fun I had with "other" driving games.

I'd rate it 60-70 Overall. I started impressed, maybe an 85 at start, but reality hurts down the line.

Driving is mostly nice, along with phisics. Most are great, some are very bad.
Premium car interiors are great save for the shadows.
Graphics are great for the premium cars and premium circuits, plain bad for the rest.
Sound is OK, with some great things and some utterly dissapointing bits.
Events suck. Boring as hell unless you put the effort to make them fun. They are not balanced: insanely easy or insanely difficult. I can't remember more than 4 or 5 close racing events in all my gaming time. There are also too few of them.
Menus are the worst I have seen in a game in a long, long time. Please, fire the interface designer now.

Just for the record: Forza 3, I started rating it around 80. After some hours playing, it started raising. I can confidently rate it 95 now after all the DLCs with awesome "all premium" cars. Just plain fun with many hours on the road and no hassle, grinding and frustration.
