Can anyone recommend a good FTP program that I can d/l somewhere? I just want somewhere to be able to host some videos, and pictures, of mine every once in a while. Thanks

I'm confused... are you just looking for an FTP prog, or a host too? I can't help since I'm using a Mac, and have "connections" for my host, but I just want to clarify for whoever can help. :)

[edit]: BTW, VersionTracker.com is always a good place to look for freeware.

Hell, I'm confused too.:odd:

I want to be able to host my own crap. I want to be able to take pictures with my digital camera, and upload them to an FTP, or something, and link them to forums I visit. Am I an idiot, or does that sound about right?

It sounds like you want a client FTP prog.

If you mean have a remote host, then you want a client. Somewhere you have to upload...

Anyways, I have been messing with FTP trash lately and have found Core FTP Lite to be more than I need. It's certainly not pretty, but it's free and it works.

Now, if you really do want to be your own host, which means people will be visiting your hard drive to see your pictures, then you'd have to open your own FTP server on your computer, using your bandwidth. I don't think many people want to do that, so I'm not going to go into detail on how you would do that...Mostly because I have no clue...

By the way, if you don't already have some webspace, Tripod.co.uk gives you 50megs of storage and some huge bandwidth limit, plus it supports FTP. If you do use them, after signing up put "ftp.members.lycos.co.uk" as the Host / IP / URL in Core FTP. Put in your username as your...Username...and your password as your password(...), and name the connection. That is all you have to fill in. Press connect and you should be off! Core FTP is mainly drag and drop. Just drag into the lower compartment and click the transfer button. Your URL for the image will be whatever tripod gives you plus the file name. Hey, I know I'm talking like you know nothing, I'm just trying to be clear though.

Yeah. You need to get a webhost first that will allow FTP acess. You can then upload your files to your website via FTP. ;) I recommend SmartFTP.

Well If You Have A High Speed Connection You Could Use Bullit Proof FTP Server And Host It Off Your Own Pc For Free.

Or You COuld Find A Host And Use CuteFTP to upload it to a remote Web Server.

yeah.....

CuteFTP is about the best FTP program I reckon. But yeah, Josh, you need a web host also. Check out the Web Hosts thread at the top here.

I also use smartftp - It's light and it's free. Plus it's got the most user-friendly interface for an ftp program I've seen so far.

If you wanna host, I use Remotely Anywhere or Bulletproof FTP Server. I like remotely anywhere more because It allows remote administration of the entire machine in addition to the ftp server, remote control access, and it allows for TONS of customization. Plus it's very secure.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier.

Thanks to every one of you who replied. I appreciate all of the suggestions/advice/help. Once I find some time I'm going to look a little more into it all, and set something up. Thanks once again, guys. I knew I could count on you all for help.;)👍
