Iv reached the extreme events and so far haven't been given 1 penalty, despite cutting corners and causing some big smashes. Have I been very lucky or is that something else they didn't get round to doing??

I have only noticed penalties in license tests (instant fails, not time penalties), and there are 5-second penalties in the special rally events. I have noticed this in the snow levels, where hitting a wall too hard results in a 5-second penalty (the penalty where the accelerator doesn't work for a few secs).
Never seen a single penalty in A-spec though, not even in endurance events as it seems that other users are killing time by ramming the artificial stupidities from the road for fun (after gaining a lead of several laps)...
Its a shame, cause no penalties mean people can cheat by cutting corners. This will make online really bad, but I know you can set penalties for online races.
Whats in this game is excellent, but what's not in it ruins it for me, makes it a half decent arcade racer. Real driving simulator I think not. Glad I got f1 2010!!!
The online penalties exist and for some tracks (Trial Mountain, Monza, TopGear) are deterrents. Other tracks however don't really have the same issues with cutting corners.

If there were penalties in A-Spec I would quit. I hated the penalties in prologue. All you had to do was get pushed off course or hit by the A.I. and that was it you were done. Keep the penalties out I say.
