Where do you shop?

I paid $100 for a pair of Docs and I've been wearing them for eleven years. If I'm paying for superior quality I don't mind spending some cash. But I can't pay extra for a name only.

All of my old clothes are higher end; Structure, Eddie Bauer, Gap, etc. The key word is "old". I haven't shopped in stores like that for a long time, unless it's like the Gap outlet or something. Most of my clothes come from Target. They seem to have some pretty stylish stuff for good prices. None of it will last ten years but it lasts long enough. Old Navy is pretty good, too, but they can get a little to ghetto for me.

Yeah, same here. Well, at least those are some of the places where my Mommy & Daddy buy me clothes. I'm too busy(lazy) to shop for myself.

Well, sort of true, but you can even get such shoes on sale too... for example, for Cross Country I normally buy the Asics shoes that would normally cost $50-100, but I wait until they're on sale at BIG 5 for 20 or 30 bucks. Also, with the amount of miles we put in them, even the best and most expensive pair won't last longer than one season, so yeah...

I buy my clothes in Next and Gap. I buy ties everywhere though. I'm actually a compulsive tie-shopper - it's the only way to show any individual style in the office without looking like an idiot.

And yet some people still manage it. My favorites are Warner Brothers cartoon ties, Tobasco ties, ties with underwear printed on them, and those ridiculous fish ties. Sorry if you have any of those.

So this is what I can expect from my Doc Martens? I've had the same pair for almost 5 years, polish the leather once a year, and the tread has held together nicely. I got them from a shoe store that was "going out of business", so I paid $85 for them, whereas they are usually over $120. They're great for work, play, and for nearly every occassion in which I "dress up".

However, I've never had sneakers that lasted over 2 years, so I can't justify spending over $30-50 for a pair. Any more than that, and I feel you're paying for an athlete's child support payment, his new Porsche, or his contract arbitration hearing. I can understand if you're an athlete in your own right, but for the 98% of the Nike, Adidas, et al buyers, they are just mall-walkers.

I for got to mention TJ Maxx and Marshall's. I usually buy the off-season stuff because it's cheaper and there's a varying selection of clothing.

my wife buys me stuff from catalogues....dont ask which ones though....shirts, jeans, boxers and such like...

i shop in glasgow @ the levi store, matalan and tk-max...i hate spending too much money on clothes...

I've never ever had a pair of Nike "sneakers" that lasted less than 2 years, except the ones that went in the washing machine. I still wear some Nike Waffle Runners which I bought 5 years ago. My Kookaburra astroturf boots - which get bi-weekly astroturf punishment are well over that age too. Last pair of adidas "sneakers" I had lasted 9 months.

I couldn't ever let my folks shop for me. I don't really think they'd shop for stuff I liked. They'd shop for the stuff they think I'd look better in or something. I'm a girl when it comes to shopping, I love it. I'm going to the mall with a group of friends after I take finals tomorrow. Heh.

I buy most of my clothing, and it usually comes from either The Torque Center or Phase II. These are local skateshops. I love skate-style clothing. It's so much nicer than the other stuff, IMO.

No, I completely agree, and do not have any of those. Further, I actually won't let my staff go onto client sites wearing ties like that, because I do not want my staff wearing clothes that say "Hello, I am an idiot" when in client-facing situations.

Didn't think about that. I think I'm going to stop my whole online shopping deal too. I got ripped off last time and I'm still pissed about it. Damn pair of A&F jeans were messed up. The seams were wrong on one leg. They garuntee their clothing to be free of defects too. Bah humbug.
