@twitcher -- I think the roadcar tires and vintage cars like the Escort are among the better-simulated things in the game, and the rallycross tracks are one of the more valuable new additions for me. :) A fair chunk of my play time so far has been with similar combos. I once hotlapped the Hell circuit until I ran out of gas. :D

That's a good shout on the older racecars. Some of the old BMWs would probably be good fun.

Go try out the Lotus 51 and 25 Climax. Such a joy to drive and when you think you're understeering just turn in more, swing the back out and hold on! It will come back to you. It's not so much a long drift through the turn but after apex you can get some nice four wheel drifts when bringing it back together.

The Type 49 is also way more manageable now than in PCars1. I'm not afraid to put my foot down in 2nd gear. Take it to La Sarthe. That's what all the drivers in 1967 wanted to do instead of drive the Bugatti Circuit. The 1967 French GP that never was. The track actually hasn't changed much since then so you get a good idea of what they would have driven. The only major changes are the Turn 1 curve and added chicane at the top of the hill at the Dunlop tire bridge. Otherwise enjoy the long runs in the French countryside.

I'm not a big open-wheel fan, but I made a point of trying out all the vintage Lotus open-wheelers this time and found most of them to be reasonably tame. Not sure how accurate they are but they're more fun than expected. :)

I'm a huge open-wheel fan, and I'm glad they're better with the AI this time around. I find the older ones to be tougher and can handle a bit more side by side argy bargy without instant spins.

Watched a graham hill documentary yesterday and tried the lotus out inmediately afterwards, it was such a great drive. Monaco it was.

Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA) race track, I'm in love with this track, and it's refreshing to race in it, and, it's not a cliché circuit :D

Knockhill

It's crazy this track is left out of most racers.
Funny though, this track feels so UK-ish somehow (just like the other UK tracks) that if I didn't know where it was located, I could probably guess. Like it too.

California highway full in the Mercedes2.3 16v. I love the left right transitions, elevation changes, low and high speed corners, it has everything. This car seems to be one of the most sorted out ones in the game. The ffb is near perfect, sounds great too. The Green Hell is a close second with Bathurst rounding out my top 3 tracks.

I have been doing a few hour and a half long Le Mans, and I really love that - especially with accellerated time so we go through a complete day-night-day cycle.

Also I did a 20 minut races on the old Hockenheim in F40's, starting late afternoon, going into the night with rain, ending in the morning with clear skies - that was SO much fun, especially because people respected each other in that race!

Private testing at Portimao in the LMP3.

Really growing to love this track, it's a rollercoaster!

I've been chatting the last few days to one of the LMP3 drivers from last weekends ELMS round and comparing notes. It's good to know a lot of what is in there relates to the real world so well. Impressive stuff.

I'm really struggling with Portimao. I'm having trouble picking out the corners. This afternoon I watched the replay of that ELMS race and the commentators were saying how difficult it is to drive there because some of the corners are unsighted and I thought "yeah I know" :)

I've got all 3 configurations of Ruapuna down pat. In a TCR.
Trying different cars at that track, it's amazing how I have to switch up driving styles.

Now i'm starting to dabble in the road cars. Civic Type-R and the amazing little Audi S1. The CTR has the speed, but the S1 is too much fun! Tried it out at The Glen. Awesome little hatch.

TCR. Won 2/16 on my new account. Last race was from Pole at Leguna Seca. Won by 12 seconds(7 laps, mandatory pit stop). AI @100/100. The AI were down at Turns 1&2 and the final turn. Other than that, awesome to remain consistent with my lap times.
SMS have tuned up the tyre model for these cars. I can actually attack the corners and fight in the braking area and out of corners, without worrying about crazy oversteer. Even versus GT4 cars in a Multi-class race. Much more confidence.

Feels good to use the "slower" A45 SMS TCC now.

My favourite combinations so far are the 1959 Aston Martin DBR1/300 at Silverstone Classic and the 1963 Lotus 25 F1 at Bannochbrae in the Autumn - incredibly satisfing and immersive if you start from the back and get the AI level just right.

Anything with the R32...so sublime playing it with the h-shifter. Just feels so great.

Love the noise of boost building, the dump, the lumbering weight of it and how predictable it is.

I (also) like the combis of classic car on the classic tracks. Mustang66 ,Mercedes SL300, Lotus 25, DBR1.

Yes - SMS seem to have improved the feel of some of the classic cars - especially the Merc 300SL, the Lotus 25 and the Lotus 49 (non-winged). Try the Lotus 49 at Rouen Les Essarts - very exciting and shows that the 3 litre F1 cars were definitely too fast to race at that track in safety! The short version is very good with the Merc 300SL.

Sounds good - I will definitely dig out my H shifter and try that car!

I think the first proper race I did with it was a 9 lap race of Bathurst with weather cycle going from sunny to rain and then cloud again. Racing against other opponents in the same class. Just played really well!

Zolder is also a fun one!

Ferrari 365 gtb/4 which is one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen, in the wet @ Brands-Hatch was a lot of fun

Group c at night @ road america

Ginetta Jr @ Azure Circuit

BMW 2002 @ Nordschleife, Snowy weather at 8 in the morning was unreally romantic

My favorite thing about this game is beating cawing black birds from the Deep South while driving Gp. C cars. Even when that bird is in a Nissan GTP-X and I am in a Jag.

To tell the truth the hopping, dirty black bird beats me more often than not so the infrequent wins are very satisfying...:D

The IndyCar is a blast pretty much everywhere. We just did a LMP2 and GTE Multi Class at the glen yesterday. Was amazing, the patch has really made this game incredible.

Rediscovering night racing. 5 laps, all road courses, Time 60x, 12 noon to finish. I started with an 11lap/24H at Catalunya GP GT A/GT B. 4 weather Clear & Light Cloud, Spring. Just beautiful. My eyes started to bug out at full dark, with the stars off in the distance.
I wish all the GT A cars had lights, but it was all good using the 2002 Sw.

Edit: Another A+ race with AI. Classic Silverstone, 17 cars max, GT B only. Such a bumpy course and fast.

The AMG is always fast. However, I'm in the 2002 and racing 3 other AI in 2002s. Swapping places for 5 laps. One of the AMGs couldn't get by in "our" battle. So cool to outbrake and out corner the AMG. Then, through the final esses, nose to tail, for the last 3 of the 5 lap race. So pleased with the fum factor of this game.

So i found the Dirtfish Rally School last night...Started off in Road Cars and built my way up to the Rally Cross cars...Think i was at it for about 4 hours :D Too much fun! Think il need to grab that fun pack now.

Having fun to find challenging cars to drive and find one, easy to steer and brake but bit harder to accelerate. :)
