I like how the thread has nothing to do with the OP.

Dear Frozen North,
I'm sorry you did not get a chance to compete in the GT Academy.... NOW GET OVER IT

Sincerely,
The World

Alright, this isn't the place to discuss geography, or start some sort of debate over which is better. So all of that ends now.

As for the topic on hand, a GT Academy up here in the Great White North - one of the GT Academy finalists asked just that question to one of the Sony folk during the whole semi-final event a few months back (before they were flown over to Silverstone). They said they were definitely looking into it, and that with any luck, Canada will be included in the next one.

Unfortunately, I can't provide a quote on that one, as it was our eventual winner Bryan, and the board we did discuss this has been down for months :(

Actually I heard that PD tried very hard to include Canada in the NA GT Academy. I don't know what the case was with South America but up north I believe the problem was Quebec. Being a french province means they have all these language regulations and stipulations on imported products, sweepstakes, etc. For example everything has to be bilingual but all french type must be larger than the english type - and more red tape the Quebec government has come up with to "make a stand" against the english infestation. Having been refused entry or participation in various "national" sweepstakes or other events in the past, it wouldn't surprise me if this was the case.

So... don't blame Canada. Blame Quebec. There are still some old separatists kicking around and muddying the water for the rest of us trying to live in the present!

Economies of Scale.

Usually, Quebec get's its own contest and the rest of Canada has its contest, because of the above, c'est lavie en Quebec eh :)

A winter GT Academy with only northern Nations - Finns vs. Canuckleheads

No, it's because Quebec law states that contest holders must post a bond to guarantee winnings for the players. The law was enacted after some fraudulent sweepstakes, as well as to ensure a government monopoly on lotteries.

That's probably it exactly, why Canada wasn't included in the GT Academy for North America. The GT Academy folks didn't want to deal with the annoying Quebec government and all their BS!

shouldn't that old separatist generation be retiring soon? lets cross our fingers

North, central, and south are just subdivisions not continents.

For us spanish speakers you are "estadounidenses" as in "united statens" or whatever, not "americanos" as in "americans". Only you call yourselves americans.

Did you learn your geography from a bus driver in new york?

^Jeez lay off him he's from Portugal. I am from Canada and I don't know everything about Europe.
