How can you be an Xbox Forza fan, when Forza Motorsport isn't even out on shelves yet??? If not, is their a previous game? Like one just called, "Forza"? No offense, I'm actually kind of curious, since I have an XBOX, and DO plan on getting Forza Motorsport, but if Motorsport is a sequel to a Forza series, then I need to try the original one out.

After playing Forza Motosports demo that is.
 
While they did improve the physics and car amount, that's all they really improved since GT3.

-There's still no lockup, with cars from the '50s having ABS.
-Hardly ANY new tuning options and there's no realistic parts damage (I can go from 6th to 1st at 150mph and nothing will happen)
-The race championships are crap and aren't exciting
-The AI is still terrible
-There's hardly any iconic or interesting European/American cars/race cars - old and new.
-No option to have the AI wearing the realistic N class tyres.

All I can hope for is a radical change for GT5 and not just another update, it's getting old.
 
I don't know about you, but I locked up the front tires every freaking time I used the brakes. Grip is much reduced - I think the N class tires are not realistic; I think they're pointless.

I work third shift at a factory, and the night went SLOW thinking about GT4. Man oh man, I get my copy today, hopefully. I definately need to goto bed and have my mother wake me up when she gets back from getting it. Anyways, I have a quick question. I was always frustrated with Arcade mode, not the mode itself, just the fact that... if I wanted to drive a C or B class car, and pick a simple track that was in Section A, and on easy, it'd still put me up against high proformance race cars, does GT4 at all, match up the competition this time around?
 
I guess I will get my turn to have my first impression on GT4. I have to wait till Thursday (tomorrow) though.

But you guys have to understand, no game is perfect. There are many who hates GT4, and many who loves GT4. There is no need for arguements when one person is simply stating their opinions.
 
i know gt4 will not be as good as i think,its allways same thing with everything that you have been waiting for 3 years..its same thing with movies..but if its as good as gt3 thats fine with me i will still play it long and hard..to gt4 14 days and counting...............

edit:ou yes i had same thing with gt3 i hated it at first but now i think its best driving game out there ..(until i get gt4?)

What car did you get that on? Even setting the brake balance all the way up doesn't cause the wheels to truly lockup, although you do feel the ABS working harder then.
 
i dont care if gt4 was the same as gt3, but its not just, the extra cars and tracks are enough for me :). Waits for PAL
 
Here's MY GT4 impression:

Intro: Meh... whatever

graphics: much much much improved

real courses: are freakin' awesome

city courses: again - meh.... whatever

drag racing: LAME. The ET's are WAY off. I got the launch down as good as I could, and the prelude is 1.5 seconds slower then its real-life counterpart. (though the trap speed was pretty close). 1.5 seconds! Thats like 16 car lengths!

AI: HORRID! Worse then I could have possiby imagined

overall though, the game is very polished, and I LOVE the new physics.
 
I think the GT series really suits the people who want to DRIVE. I mean, I've always preferred driving the cars I like on an empty track, enjoying the way it feels, trying to optimize my line through turns and watching the replays after. Racing has always just been a way to make money to buy more cars and parts.

There is a lack of "competition" in the whole GT series. But as many have pointed out, the basis for the GT series is in its title: "The Real Driving Simulator."

In the end, whether you love it or hate it, you'll buy it. Why? Because if Gran Turismo never existed, most of us would never be able to enjoy the cars we dream about...

Couldn't say it any better than that rollazn, these days you can't have high hopes for games, I learned the hard way with Nightmare Creatures 2. With the original NC, it was kind of free roaming, around the levels that is. In 2, it was a straight path. I could careless if they didn't add B-Spec or PhotoMode, or really made any major adjustments, I just want to have the enjoyment of starting over. I would have w/ GT3, but my Brother and I had all the cars, and we only had one memory card, so I could never really start over. Fear of losing the cars ;p. I'm sure GT4 will be heaven for me.

One complaint is Midfield Raceway, my favorite track. Is it just me or did the loosen up some of the turns on backside of track that used to be quite tight?

Yeah, they did that for a few tracks. Deep Forest comes to mind. Seems a little bit more Beginner-friendly. I liked it the other way. They look prettier, but, particularly with DeepForest, I miss the darkness of its shadows. Still, the light cascading thru the tree tops is a nice addition.
 
I love the game, i just find it to be a bit twitchy. I was able to be more stable at speed in GT3, but its not enough to make me dislike the game.
 
If you don't like it nothing is making you keep it, trade it back in and you car get at least 40 bucks from EB or Gamestop.

I really don't think that that's a helpful assessment B.A. :lol:.

They're just overworked with having to deal with a torrent of nonsense and abrasive/abusive posting right now.

That means that occaisionally someone might get a slap they don't deserve because they've been misinterpreted but it is entirely understandable. I'm a moderator on forums elsewhere but I have to deal with a much more reasonable, level-headed and all-together less excitable crowd. That means that I still have some patience left in reserve for posters who step over the bounds.

Duke, Sage, DA et al I'm sure have had their patience long-ago exhausted and actually deserve a bit of understanding if they, on rare instances, get a little 'short' with people.

You do take this little attention-diverting entertainment very seriously, don't you? It is really hard for normal people to understand the thought processes of somebody who wraps so much of their life around an electronic game...
 
Just get the game. All right so people are complaining, but not everyone will like everything about it. Get over it, it will be fun once we all just get used to it and enjoy it. When we stop looking at how it didn't measure up to our perfect image of it in our minds in some areas, GT will once again become GT the ultimate driving expirience. So let's all just play and have fun, and if you still don't like the game, get off of the ride and play someother game. Let's not destroy GT by looking at problems on the outside. At the core it still is Gran Turismo 4 and creator Kazunori Yamauchi is still my hero

I got it in the 16 license tests for the B license. I've golded 11 of them and silvered 5, but it took a lot of effort. Understeer is a terrible problem, particularly under braking. If you don't get it modulated perfectly, you'll plow very wide. Full braking on the analog stick will guarantee you miss your apex by a mile.

This is my first post so take it easy on me. I played the game last night for a few hours and it is pretty good. Have played all the Gt games and this one looks great. The cars handle differently but that's ok. My only beef is that on some of the pre-race videos the screen is a bit fuzzy, especially on SS Rt5 in Sunday Cup. This may be because I have an older PS2. I like the new High Speed Ring. Haven't tried out a ton of stuff since I didn't import my GT3 info. Not sure what the point of Aspec points are. I was in a race with 120 Aspec points available and got absolutely creamed. I did win a race with 40 Aspec points and found it fairly challenging. BSpec mode is nice also. Building up your drivers skill is kind of neat. It will be interesting to see what is the maximum level of Bspec skill. Should be a lot of fun for many months to come.

Yeah I can sympathise - I'm a mod on a ladies forum and believe me, the b*tching that goes on there far outweighs anything here!

It's also extremely light touch regulation, so they really get out of hand before the warnings start!

A little behind, are we?
I've golded License B and A and am working on the next license. Done the 1st few tests and golded them.

However, its getting very very hard.
 
I always get the feeling of true speed when my eyes are around 50 centimeters of a 19 screen.

It hurts. But its nice :)

Hi guys,

Now to start off, I'd just like to say that I am as big of a GT fan as the next guy. I've lived, ate, and breathed GT ever since the days of GT1, so I was anxious as anyone else to get my hands on GT4. I've been around forums for years and know how it when a n00b comes on with 0 posts, but I'm going to speak the truth.

I got GT4 today at about 4:00 PM. And ya know what? I'm not impressed. I honestly don't like it.

For one, the gameplay/driving in GT4 is just...weird. I really can't describe it, but I hate it. I know it will take time to get used to it, just like the changes from 1 to 2 to 3, but the first time I popped in either one of the first three, I don't remember NOT liking the driving style. GT4, however, is just awkward. Even though I know I'll get used to it, it has left a bad taste in my mouth.

The gauges also suck harcore. In GT3, I liked to be very precise with my shift-points. In GT4, there aren't even hatches for every 100 RPM! 👎

But the one thing that REALLY pisses me off though is the autosave crap. I tried "normal" and "restricted" or whatever from the options menu, and its the same thing. The game automatically saves/overrites when you buy/sell a car. WTF is that?! I'd like to chose when I want the game info to be saved, thank you. This means you cant just mess around and buy cars and mod them for the hell of it when you have no intentions of keeping it. Or, if you just wanna sell a few cars to buy one nice car which you can't afford otherwise. With this, it will automatically save whenever you buy/sell anything. Lame.

I honestly thought I was going to be playing the game all night, but in all honesty, I popped GT3 back in after about an hour and a half.

Thanks for ruining the best racing series there was, Sony. :grumpy:

If there is one thing you guys can help me on, it is the saving issue. Maybe I'm just mistaken? But how do you get it back to the previous style, where it ONLY saves when you tell it to?
