I think its all going to Hamiltons head. After saying Alonso is outspoke but Hamilton shouldn't have came public after the GP weekend and said 'Alonso isn't talking to me'. It may have been a quote that was taken out of context but it seems that hes trying to make out that Alonso's a villan.
Maybe a risk of fighting is the price you'll have to pay if you put two class drivers in one team.

I wouldn't want to see Hamilton 'sink' like Villeneuve, i really wouldn't want to hear Hamilton's album

Yeah and where did that get him? lol

Alonso's manager has apparently rubbished the talk that McLaren have said Alonso can leave at the end of the season...make of that what you will (from SkySports btw)

And I'd like to point out... arrogance comes with the territory. These guys are competitive and brash... you don't get to the top by saying "Thank you, please..." and rolling over for the other guy. I don't remember M.Schumacher ever being praised for his sportsmanship...

There are nice guys out there... but on the track, it's all "me.me.me.me..."... it's just out in public, some guys know how to put a better game face on than others.

theres never any reason to defend someones arrogance, look at federer. he dont have an arrogant bone in his body, the only person to defend arrogance of is ali, cos he done it with so much style, and he practically invented it.

There may be no reason to defend arrogance, but you must acknowledge it. F1 drivers thrive off thinking that they can do anything, as do any sporting professionals. To compete against others is pointless unless you think you can beat them.

Lewis has gone through his entire career winning. Now he steps into F1, starts winning straight away, is leading the championship against two drivers who are often noted as being among the quickest drivers ever, and is being consistently talked up by the media as being the best ever. Read a race-report and you’ll often find half of it talking about Lewis’s perfect driving, compared to Alonso’s ragged style, etc.

How can such a young person cope with all of that pressure and still behave like a humble boy? He will have to develop a bit of a hard edge to cope with this stuff, and IMO he is much better going with Kimi’s approach of not saying anything rather than Alonso’s approach of saying too much and looking like an idiot.

This whole qualifying incident has not made either of the McLaren drivers look good. In fact, both of them were behaving like selfish children. The best they can do for themselves now is to put it behind them and beat each other with fast lap-times, not with trying to gain an unfair advantage.

Lewis has yet to face any real pressure or adversity. He gets a free pass this year, because he is a rookie. The real test of his character will come next season, when he is the favorite to win the championship (which he will be, regardless of what happens this year). The pressure will be enormous, and every little thing will be under a microscope. Then we will see how much of a gentleman he really is (at least he doesn't use the F-word when yelling at his boss, right?).

^^^ i actually think he's been under pressure from day 1 being the world champion's teammate....if he's say 2, 3 secs of FA's pace his career would take a major step backwards, however i thought he cracked during his home race, he just didnt perform as well as he could..

I wasn't actually defending his arrogance... just pointing out the fact that most of the guys on the grid are arrogant. Nice guys (like me) just don't have enough of a will to win at this level of competition... ...you need to be cocky, to have that overwhelming self-confidence, to make it in F1.

But there's a way to do it with style... like the aforementioned Ali... or Michael Jordan (that nice-boy image? Ha! gone as soon as he hit the locker room and changed into his sweats...)...

Or, he could go the Kimi route, and just go totally silent every time he's under the microscope.

But then, that wouldn't be very entertaining. :D :D :D

i do beleive that arrogance, or maybe not arrogance, but a true beleif in your own ability, and the ability to find a reason why u didnt win a certain event, or race, or fight, or whatever, is what makes a winner. it gives u the beleife that u will win the next "event". but u just dont need to promote your own beleife in yourself to be succesfull, if u promote it, i just see it as being insecure, as alonso seems this year, and a bit of last year.
it says alot more about ur character if u can do a raikkonen, and just take it on the chin then go out and drive the balls off the car at the next race, after u have gotten blind drunk in a gorrilla suit, he just seems more human to me, maybe thats why i like him. even if it has taken half a year to get in the groove, but he didnt make farout excuses.

well u certainly showed me. but it doesnt mean i have to like him. and i stand by my humble pie comment.

Nope, you don't have to like him, I just think you're underestimating him.

Here's a thing though. While Scummy was without doubt exceptionally talented even compared to other F1 drivers, I could never stand the guy. Consequintly the last 10 years or so of F1 have been miserable for me. Even when he wasn't winning, I just wished he wasn't there. And if Hamilton's as good as I am starting to think he is....

From my point of view though, it would be nice to see a guy I like at the top for a change. I haven't really supported any F1 drivers since Hill :)

I never could stand Schumacher, but in that interview Niki Lauda gave him after they named that corner "Schumacher S", he was all humble, said what a great season this is, all the usual stuff, while Lauda was a pain in the arse: "They should've named the whole circuit after you!", etc.

That he wasn't as terrible as he used to be. A lot nicer than Lauda - but then again, Lauda's the reporter who criticizes just about any person on this green earth. "Hamilton shouldn't have done that, Alonso that, Raikkonen is foolish, Massa is slow, Heidfeld is not dedicated because he prefered visiting his son", so I reckon it's just a matter of proportions.

Yeah you're right. Schumacher could do great interview. Rarely blamed anyone, congratulated anyone who beat him, rarely lost his cool (though when he lost it, he properly lost it). He was probably the most complete driver I've seen in F1, unfortunately for me

i dont get what ur tryin to say, but since we seems to agree that everyone has flaws, and no-one is perfect, lets just say raikkonen is awesome, and webber is great so lets get him a good ride, agreed? good. :)

Schumi, like another famous Michael (#23?), had a knack of being a total arse-hole on the job, but a total gentleman in front of the cameras. :D

He's apparently dumped his girlfriend (whom he said he wouldn't move to another country without) and been spotted messing about with another girl in a pretty close fashion on some beach.

That girl, apparently, is the daughter of one of the Mclaren boss's Mansour Ojjeh.

Im suprised how badly hes doing in GP2, ok maybe i am only saying that because of his uncle, but hes not exactly setting that series on fire.

I dont think next year unless its with a back of grid team, but it seems you'll only get in there if you have loads of money or sponsorship.

but ayrton only pipped brundle to the title in their equivalent series,
