I really hate it when in a series you find out your car uses 3 out of 6 gears when u couldve used all 6. let us qualify for a lap or two to get it close

You can guess very easily. If you're really struggling that badly, you can go to free run.

ya but not in the middle of a race series and what downforce do you use? i know i am being picky, but i dont want to chart every track for all the cars. i just want to make them competitive and then race was all. but i do get your point.

Pretty much the only time I've had a problem with it was the karting stuff. The other career stuff, the AI are so useless and the PP and other restrictions generous enough that you don't need a machine fine tuned to each track to completely blow the field away.

It would take a few minutes of planning to see the races in championships and then find the settings you are looking for on those tracks for when you go through the series. Are you trying to do the races at a more competitive level? (Lower pp, tires, etc.) Otherwise, I agree with @DNW that the career is designed too easy for the restrictions to the good drivers of the game. I did find that there are spots I am struggling with tho.

I haven't had trouble being over-geared against AI; the gearing might not be ideal, but I can still win. My problem has been the opposite a few times, when I'm bouncing off the rev limiter and everyone blows by. So now I glance at the outline of the tracks and look for the longest straight, and guesstimate my final ratio or top speed.

yes, i usually try and make it competitive. i do know you can up the PP and HP and then get an easy win. its more just the gears sometimes are SOOOOO off it gets annoying. i do agree though, when your car is on the limiter and everyone just goes past is the most frustrating.

I really miss qualifying. not for the same reasons as the OP, but just because it was more sim-like. GT should be called THE REAL ARCADE SIMULATOR rather than the real driving simulator.

"The Real Take Your Money and Deliver No Content Simulator". Oh..... hang on, it does actually do that, doesn't it :-(

I miss it because its not real-life-like to always start last ....

Yeah, basically this. I just look at which track I'm going to and if it's something like Monza I'll gear it for long straights, if it's something that's more cornery, I might bring it down a bit. But I'm never aiming to get it so spot on that I'm just reaching the limiter at the end of the longest straight. It's entirely unnecessary for the career racing, and if you do get it wrong and you're bouncing off the limiter half way down the straights then you might have a problem. You can be a bit conservative with it you can still destroy the AI.

Sure I'd like for the game to require fine tuning for each track, and then qualifying, and then some proper hard racing... but there's a lot of changes required to the game before it's like that, and they'd basically need to do all of them at once for it to work.

About this situation, I have, in the cars I use the most, the 3 setup pages with a shorter to longer transmission and using my experience with GT and the knowledge of the tracks, I choose the one that suits better.

But if I'm struggling with a setup, I practice before entering the series. Not very often, though.

Good racing every1 :-D
